Rode has finally caught up with the feature that its main competitor, DJI, offered from the start: a transmitter with both a cold shoe mount and a 3.5mm jack for connecting to digital cameras.

For $149, you can buy Rode's Wireless Micro Camera Kit, which includes two microphones, a wireless transmitter, a portable charging case, and even a furry wind screen to help you film in less than ideal weather conditions. The receiver also comes with an AMOLED 1.1-inch touchscreen display that allows you to configure the audio setup on the fly.

But what really sets Rode's kit apart from its main competitor is that it includes Bluetooth Direct Connect, which lets you connect your microphones directly to your iOS device using the Rode Capture App. This was a notable omission from DJI's Mic Mini, which required a third-party adapter for this functionality.

The Wireless Micro Camera Kit uses USB-C or 3.5mm line-in output, making it compatible with most digital cameras and smartphones. And if you're worried about running out of battery power, Rode claims that the kit can last up to 21 hours before needing to be recharged.
