Sean Combs' Mother Denies Abusive Parent Claims in Netflix Docuserie, Calls Them 'Untrue'
Janice Combs, the mother of rapper Sean Combs, has pushed back against claims made in Netflix's docuserie "Sean Combs: The Reckoning" that she was an abusive parent. In a statement provided to Rolling Stone, Combs denied the allegations, calling them "untrue" and claiming they were intentionally done to mislead viewers and further harm her reputation.
Combs, who has been a single mother raising her son since he was a child, disputes claims about their relationship and Sean's treatment of her. She described herself as a devoted parent who raised Sean with love and hard work, not abuse. According to Combs, she wrote the statement to "correct some of the lies" in the docuserie, which includes comments from Tim Patterson, an alleged childhood friend of Sean's, that portray her relationship with him as untruthful and salacious.
Combs also lambasted another claim made by Kirk Burrowes, who co-founded Bad Boy Entertainment with Sean. Burrowes claimed that Sean once slapped his mother during a conversation after the tragic City College events in 1991. Combs denied this, calling it "inaccurate and patently false." She also disputed Burrowes' claims about Combs charging the funeral of the late Notorious B.I.G. back to his estate.
In her statement, Combs praised Sean as a "dutiful son" who helped her with her medical care and provided financial support. She closed by requesting that the distortions, falsehoods, and misleading statements in the docuserie be publicly retracted.
