Sen. Jeanne Shaheen says "we need to put the shutdown behind us, end the circular firing squad"

Ugh, can you believe how hard it is to get anything done in this Senate ? Shaheen's trying to be all buddy-buddy with Republicans, but honestly, I think she's getting played by them on purpose . On one hand, her willingness to work together is a good thing, and I guess it's kinda cool that they were able to reopen some stuff without too much drama. But on the other hand, I'm so tired of seeing Democrats compromise all the time... like, can't we just stick to our guns for once? And don't even get me started on how frustrating it is to watch someone's own party turn on them over a disagreement . It's like, come on, Shaheen, you're trying to do the right thing here... can we just support you for once?

so like Jeanne Shaheen is trying to keep the peace and stuff but I don't get why other dems are being so harsh on her they're all about defending their agenda and she's just trying to find common ground? doesn't that sound kinda reasonable? i mean, i know it can be hard to work with reps but shouldn't we at least try to be civil about it? also what's this "circular firing squad" thingy anyway? sounds like some kind of idk politics buzzword

I'm not sure about this whole bipartisan thing . I mean, Jeanne Shaheen is trying to be all nice and collaborative with Republicans, but isn't that just gonna let them dictate the agenda? I get that sometimes it's good to work together, but when are we gonna stand up for our own party interests? And what about all those Dems who are getting salty about her deal with the GOP? They're right to be concerned. We can't have our own people undermining our priorities just to make a point about working together. I'm not saying it's a bad thing entirely, but we need to be careful not to lose sight of what's really important here.

I don't get why Democrats are so salty about Jeanne Shaheen's approach . She's trying to find common ground and get stuff done, which sounds like a pretty good strategy to me . I mean, we're not gonna win everything we want just by shouting at each other and refusing to compromise . We need people like Shaheen who are willing to listen to the other side and work together to find solutions . And honestly, if she can get some Republicans on board with us, that's a major win in my book . I'm not saying it's gonna be easy, but I think she's taking the right approach .

I'm not surprised to see Shaheen taking the blame for her party's infighting . Like, what did she expect? She did just help Republicans get their way and now her own party is turning on her . I mean, can't they see that working together isn't all it's cracked up to be? It's just a way for them to look good in the short term while their constituents suffer in the long run .

And yeah, Shaheen's "circular firing squad" comment is on point . I mean, who hasn't seen that before? It's like they're all just trying to one-up each other and distract from the fact that they're not actually getting anything done .

But honestly, can we expect anything different from a party that's so divided? They'll keep fighting and backstabbing each other until they realize it's all just a joke . And who knows, maybe Shaheen will emerge from this whole mess looking like the adult in the room . But I wouldn't count on it .
