Seven teams outside of the preseason Super 25 to keep an eye on

The preseason rankings often overlook teams that fly under the radar, but these seven squads are poised to surprise and climb into the top 25 this season.

First up is Crane, a Class 2A powerhouse on the rise. With an impressive roster of experienced players and talented newcomers, Coach Mekiel Posey's team is ready to make some noise in the city and state tournaments. Junior guard Jamier Montgomery is a smooth scorer, while senior Brad Blackmon brings size and length to the table.

Other sleeper teams to watch include Lockport, which boasts a potent junior trio of playmaking point guard Nathan Munson and twin brothers Nedas Venckus and Nojus Venckus. The Porters are looking to surpass last year's win total and creep into the Super 25 rankings.

Lyons is another team that should take advantage of a slight dip from perennially strong West Suburban Silver. Coach Tom Sloan's squad has a talented roster, with returning guard Owen Carroll and junior Timmy Sloan taking big steps forward.

In the North Suburban Conference, Stevenson won a share of the title last season and returns a productive backcourt in seniors Rocco Pagliocca and Donny Williams. The Patriots have a good chance to make some noise this year, despite limited experience returning.

St. Patrick is another team that's primed for success. Coach Mike Bailey has an impressive 1-2 punch inside with 6-7 seniors RJ McPartlin and Omar Ajanovic, who are both significantly improved from last season. The team will need to adapt to new roles for perimeter players like point guard Steven Quach and shooters Jimmy Czeslawski and Joe Costanzo.

Palatine is another team that's looking strong this year, with coach Eric Millstone returning five of his top seven players. The Pirates have a talented roster, including 6-4 behemoth Tony Balanganayi, who returns as an all-conference performer.

Finally, Hersey is looking to make a push in the stacked Mid-Suburban League West under veteran coach Bob Widlowski. The team boasts a versatile starting lineup led by senior guard Charlie Pomis and returning starter Logan Luxem.

Crane's got some serious depth this season ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ€. Those twins Nedas and Nojus are like a dynamic duo on the court - they should be interesting to watch ๐Ÿ”. I'm not sure about Lockport though, their junior trio is cool and all but I don't think they've got what it takes to take down the big boys ๐Ÿค”.

idk how much stock i put into these preseason rankings lol they always gotta include some "sleepers" that are supposed to be good but we've seen this before where teams get hyped up only to fall flat ๐Ÿค”

i'm a bit skeptical about crane, lockport and lyons too - they all have talented players but there's not much depth or cohesion shown in these writeups. what about the rest of the league? how are other teams looking? need some actual stats or player profiles before i start believing in these sleeper teams ๐Ÿ“Š

I'm low-key hyped for this season! ๐Ÿคฉ There are some hidden gems on that list, you know? Like, have you seen the Lockport trio of Venckus brothers? ๐Ÿคฏ They're like a force to be reckoned with! And I love how Stevenson's got that solid backcourt going, it'll definitely make them a contender. The thing is, every team has that one game where they can take down the big dogs... and then you see who rises to the top. I'm thinking Palatine's got some serious shot (pun intended), those guys have been consistent for years now ๐Ÿคž

I'm so stoked for these teams that are flying under the radar, you know? Like, people think they're just gonna cruise through their league without making any noise, but I'm here to tell you, they've got talent pouring out of every pore ๐Ÿคฉ. Crane is definitely one to watch, with all those seasoned players and fresh blood coming in - it's like a wellness retreat for basketball โšก๏ธ. And have you seen Lockport's junior trio? That's some Next Level stuff right there ๐Ÿ”ฅ. I'm also loving the vibe from St. Patrick, that 1-2 punch inside is straight fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ!

I'm tellin' ya, these teams are gonna be big this year ๐Ÿคฏ! I was at that Lockport game last season where they took down the top seed, and man, it was like a whole different team out there ๐Ÿ”ฅ! Those twin brothers Nedas and Nojus Venckus are straight fire ๐Ÿ”ซ. And don't sleep on Crane, they got that Coach Posey know-how ๐Ÿค‘. I remember when I used to watch Crane play back in the day, they were always the underdogs but would come out swingin' ๐Ÿ’ฅ! The key is those sleeper teams gotta step up and show 'em what they're made of ๐Ÿ’ช... can't wait to see how it all plays out this year ๐ŸŽ‰

Come on... are you kiddin' me? These teams are gonna take over the league? I mean, Lockport's got a good trio, but is that really enough to overcome all those other teams? And what about Stevenson? They won last year, they're not just some underdog team. And don't even get me started on Palatine... those guys have been a top contender for years.

I think the preseason rankings are way off base if you ask me ๐Ÿ˜’. There's gotta be some other teams that should be in the top 25 instead of these sleepers. I mean, Hersey's got a solid lineup, but are they gonna take down all those stronger teams? It's gonna be an interesting season to watch ๐Ÿค”.

๐Ÿค” I'm loving these sleeper teams getting some love! Crane is definitely a dark horse, with their roster looking stacked and Coach Posey's experience will surely pay off ๐Ÿ™Œ. And I gotta say, the Lockport trio of Munson, Venckus, and Venckus is fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ! Their playmaking abilities will take them far this season. What do you guys think about Lysons chances with West Suburban Silver weakened? Are they gonna be a contender in the North Suburban Conference ๐Ÿค”

๐Ÿค” just saw some interesting preseason rankings ๐Ÿ“Š and I'm curious - do you think these sleeper teams will really make some noise in the city and state tournaments this year? ๐Ÿ† or are they just getting a little too much hype from me? ๐Ÿ˜‚

I mean, teams like Lockport and Stevenson have some talented rosters, but can they stay healthy and put it all together? And what about St. Patrick - those big two inside are looking fierce ๐Ÿ”ฅ, but will their perimeter players be able to step up?

And I'm thinking Palatine has a good shot too, especially with that huge 6-4 forward on the team ๐Ÿคฏ, but how's the coaching going to factor in? Do you guys think these teams have what it takes to climb into the top 25 this season? ๐Ÿ“Š

Umm, have you guys noticed how these rankings are super conveniently released right before the season starts? Like, what's the real motive here? ๐Ÿค” And I'm like, totally not buying that Lockport is just going to "surpass last year's win total" out of nowhere... that sounds way too suspicious. And don't even get me started on St. Patrick's "impressive 1-2 punch" - what if it's actually a setup for something bigger? ๐Ÿค‘ Like, I'm not saying Coach Bailey is evil or anything, but come on, we should be looking at the bigger picture here...

๐Ÿคฉ Can you believe these sleeper teams are gonna crush it this season? I'm hyped for Crane, Lockport's got some fire in their junior trio ๐Ÿš€, and Lyons is looking strong with that squad from West Suburban Silver ๐ŸŒŠ. Stevenson's backcourt is gonna be a game-changer ๐Ÿ’ช, and Palatine's got the size advantage with Tony Balanganayi ๐Ÿคฏ. Hersey's versatile lineup has me intrigued ๐Ÿค”. I'm predicting some big upsets this season! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

โญ๏ธ teams like lyons and st patrick are gonna be interesting to watch this season ๐Ÿค”

I'm loving the vibes from Palatine, their roster is stacked ๐Ÿค‘ and that 6-4 balanganayi dude is a beast ๐Ÿ˜… but let's see if they can keep it together all year ๐Ÿ‘€

I think its gonna be a sick season for our local teams ๐Ÿคฉ! People always sleep on Crane, but they're lookin like a force to be reckoned with, you feel? The twins Venckus are straight fire and Jamier Montgomery is a smooth scorer ๐Ÿ”ฅ. And Lockport's got that talented junior trio that can take over games ๐Ÿ’ช.

Lyons is also gonna be one to watch, their coach Sloan has got them lookin good ๐Ÿค. Stevenson's backcourt is solid, they're def makin some noise this year ๐Ÿ’ฅ. St Patrick's big man duo of McPartlin and Ajanovic are unstoppable ๐Ÿ˜ฒ.

Palatine's got a beast of a player in Balanganayi, that guy's all-conference for sure ๐Ÿ™Œ. And Hersey's coach Widlowski is bringin the heat with their versatile lineup ๐ŸŽฏ. I'm hyped to see how these teams stack up against each other ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐Ÿค” these preseason rankings are always so lame, never give a chance to teams like Crane or Lockport, they gotta be super talented to get some love, but what about the guys who grind every year? Like Palatine, they don't have allstars on their team but they still come up big ๐Ÿค‘ and Stevenson's got a solid backcourt, I'm not gonna sleep on them ๐Ÿ˜Ž

OMG u gotta keep an eye on these sneaky teams! Crane is lookin fierce w/ that roster of theirs ๐Ÿ˜Ž, especially w/ Jamier Montgomery & Brad Blackmon leading the charge ๐Ÿคฏ. And dont count out Lockport either, those twins Nedas & Nojus Venckus are like a dynamic duo ๐Ÿ’ช. I'm also feelin good about Lyons, Owen Carroll is gonna have a sick season ๐Ÿ™Œ. Stevenson & Palatine are lookin solid too ๐Ÿค. St. Patrick's got that 1-2 punch w/ RJ McPartlin & Omar Ajanovic ๐Ÿ”„, and Hersey's squad is so deep w/ Charlie Pomis leadin' the way ๐Ÿ‘Š. These teams gotta be taken seriously or else ๐Ÿ˜ณ.

man these teams are gonna surprise us this season ๐Ÿคฏ crane is lowkey flying under the radar but they got some serious talent on their roster like jamier montgomery ๐Ÿ‘€ and brad blackmon ๐Ÿคบโ€โ™‚๏ธ i'm lovin the sleeper picks lockport and lyons gotta step up their game or else they'll be left in the dust ๐Ÿ˜… st patrick's got a good shot with that 1-2 punch inside tho ๐Ÿ’ช palatine's gonna be strong with eric millstone at the helm ๐Ÿค“

I'm loving these underdog teams that are gonna make some waves this season! ๐ŸŒŠ I mean, have you seen Crane's roster? That Coach Mekiel Posey knows how to build a team! And Lockport's junior trio is just fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ. I'm also hyped about Lyons taking advantage of West Suburban Silver's dip and Stevenson coming back strong. St. Patrick's 1-2 punch inside is gonna be huge, especially with their improved perimeter players. Palatine's got that beast of a player Tony Balanganayi, and Hersey's versatile lineup has me thinking they can make some noise in the Mid-Suburban League West. It's all about these sleeper teams proving people wrong! ๐Ÿ˜„

The beauty of sports lies not just in winning or losing, but in the journey itself ๐Ÿ€. These sleeper teams are like the quiet streams that flow through the landscape, often overlooked but always carrying water ๐Ÿ’ง. It's easy to get caught up in the hype surrounding the perennial powerhouses, but it's refreshing to see these underdogs emerge and show us what they're made of ๐Ÿ”ฅ. The fact that they're not intimidated by their surroundings is a testament to their character ๐Ÿ’ช. Can we learn from their resilience and adaptability? Maybe this season will be one for the books, where the quiet ones make some noise ๐Ÿ“š.

lol what's with these preseason rankings always trying to predict the future like a fortune teller ๐Ÿ”ฎ๐Ÿคฃ anyway Crane is looking pretty solid, they got that Jamier Montgomery dude who's like a combo guard ninja ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ I mean who wouldn't want a smooth scorer and some length on the wing? Lockport's junior trio sounds like a recipe for success too, Nathan Munson's point guard skills are gonna be key ๐Ÿ”ฉ And then there's Lyons trying to capitalize on West Suburban Silver's weakness ๐Ÿค‘ it's all about adapting to new roles for St. Patrick's guys RJ and Omar, hope they don't get lost in translation ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ Palatine's got a behemoth of a player in Tony Balanganayi, I wonder if he's ready for the big leagues โš”๏ธ
