Shocking video shows 90-year-old man speeding, crashing into Los Gatos coffee shop on Thanksgiving

A 90-year-old man, who had clearly exceeded his limits on Thanksgiving night, was involved in a harrowing crash into Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company. The incident occurred at approximately 9 p.m. when the vehicle was captured speeding down University Avenue, before seconds later crashing into the coffee shop.

The driver's reckless behavior ultimately resulted in his vehicle ending up in the middle of the store, with damage to fixtures and furniture throughout half of the building. Fortunately for the business owners, the core of their operation - the coffee roaster itself - was left unscathed.

The driver sustained serious injuries but is currently stable in hospital, with police speculating that alcohol may have played a role in his actions. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Incredibly, a surveillance camera system installed by one of the nearby businesses provided valuable footage to aid the police department in their inquiries. As stated by the CEO of Surveillance Solutions, "We implement something, and fortunately, it paid off as far as assisting the police department...and possibly coming up with some other better safety measures to ensure this doesn't happen again."

For the owners of Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company, the incident has brought a mix of devastation and gratitude. Describing their reaction upon discovering their business had been destroyed, one owner stated, "Just devastated with the destruction, but incredibly grateful that no one was injured aside from the driver of the vehicle."

Now focused on recovering from this tragic event, the coffee shop owners remain optimistic about their future, as expressed by another business owner.

Man, it's crazy to think about how much stuff has changed since I was driving around in my late 20s 🀯. Back then, speeding down University Avenue would've gotten you a serious ticket, but now it just seems like an everyday thing πŸš—πŸ˜΄. I mean, what's next? People gonna be driving through coffee shops like it's no big deal? Coffee Roasting Company is one of those local businesses that really matters to the community - how are they supposed to bounce back from this? And what about the surveillance cameras? Are we living in some kinda sci-fi movie where everything's got an eye on us 24/7? 😳 I just hope the guy who crashed into the coffee shop is okay, but it's also a bit of a shame that he went out like that... πŸ€•

omg 😱 can u believe this guy? speeding down university ave at 9 pm and then crashes into a coffee roasting company πŸ’₯ i mean i know it was thanksgiving night but come on dude! anyway, happy to hear the core of the shop is still in one piece πŸ™ hopefully they get the funds to rebuild soon and can keep serving up that amazing coffee β˜•οΈ. love how the surveillance system helped the police get some answers too 🀝 gotta give it up for those business owners staying strong through this tough time πŸ’ͺ

Ugh, can't believe what happened to that poor guy! 90 years old and still getting behind the wheel? That's just reckless, you know?! πŸ˜’ And to think he was speeding down University Ave at night... it's a miracle no one else got hurt. I'm all for being out and about on Thanksgiving, but come on, someone needs to be checking people's sobriety levels! πŸš—πŸ’¨ The coffee shop owners are really showing some heart by staying positive despite the destruction, though. Fingers crossed they can get back up and running soon! β˜•οΈπŸ’ͺ

πŸ€• 90 and reckless? like what's gonna make someone drive so wild at 9 pm? πŸš—πŸ’¨ obviously they had way too much to drink on Thanksgiving lol. but seriously though, hope the owner recovers quickly & all. that coffee roaster is like a big metal beast or something tho...anyway, glad no one else got hurt, thats the most important thing

I don’t usually comment but... I felt so bad for those coffee shop owners πŸ€•. It's crazy that someone would drive like a maniac and just end up destroying half of their store 😱. And the fact that they're already back to thinking about safety measures is just amazing πŸ’‘. Like, what can you even say? You get robbed of your business and your stuff, but you still try to be proactive about fixing things. It's actually really inspiring πŸ™Œ.

omg i cant even imagine driving into a coffee shop lol 🀣 90 yr old man shoulda known better πŸ˜‚ anyway its so sad that he got hurt bad, but super glad no one else was injured πŸ™ hope the police find out what really happened and those coffee shop owners get their business back up & running soon πŸ’ͺ

can't believe what happened at that coffee shop 🀯 last night... someone's life is so messed up they can't even drive a car right. but at the same time, i'm really glad no one else got hurt, just the poor guy behind the wheel. it's crazy how surveillance cameras can make all the difference in investigations like this πŸ“Έ. and to be honest, i'm just kinda disappointed that people still think they're above the law... a car crash isn't exactly hard to prevent if you're not gonna drink before driving πŸ˜”

omg i'm so relieved its not worse πŸ˜…, 90 yr old dude must've had way too much to drink that thanksgiving night lol, can't believe he was driving around like a maniac on university ave 🀯, anyway, so grateful the owners are okay and the coffee shop is salvageable πŸ’•, got to give it up for that surveillance system tho, lifesaver right? πŸ‘

this whole thing is a perfect example of how we need better infrastructure and more stringent regulations on reckless driving πŸš—πŸ’¨ i mean, speeding down university ave at 9 pm? that's just irresponsible behavior. and what really gets me is the fact that this driver was able to escape with his life, but left half of a small business in shambles. it highlights the need for stricter penalties for drunk driving offenses, not to mention more robust safety measures like those provided by surveillance solutions πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ we can't just rely on individual businesses to look out for each other; our roads and communities need protection from reckless individuals who refuse to follow the law 🚫

Ugh, what a mess 🀯! I mean, I'm glad everyone's okay (mostly) after that crash, but seriously, 90 and speeding? What were they thinking?! 😱 And to think they're just going to shrug it off like it was no big deal because the coffee roaster was fine... newsflash: IT WASN'T JUST THE COFFEE ROASTER THAT GOT DESTROYED!!! The whole store is trashed 🀯! Anyhoo, glad the surveillance footage helped and all that jazz. Now let's talk about the REAL issue here - the layout of University Avenue. I mean, who designs roads like that?! πŸš—πŸ˜©

this is just crazy... like what's going through some people's minds? 90 and still thinking they can take a risk 🀯 speed limits are in place for a reason, you know? and good on the surveillance system, hopefully it'll help prevent something like this from happening again πŸ“Ή.

Can you believe what happened at Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company? I mean, 90-year-old dude gets behind the wheel and starts speeding around... that's just crazy talk! 🀯 Thankfully no one else got hurt, but the damage is done. It's a good thing those surveillance cameras were installed or who knows how much longer it'd take for the police to figure out what happened.

It's also a bit surprising the driver was still able to drive after Thanksgiving night... must've been some wine or something πŸ˜‚. But seriously, 90 and reckless is just not right. I hope the owner gets the help they need to recover from this mess. On the bright side, it's actually made them more determined to keep their business going, so fingers crossed for that! πŸ’ͺ
