SNAP benefits resume in full in Pa. following end of government shutdown

Ugh, I'm so over people saying that the return of SNAP benefits is a "welcome relief". Like, yeah sure, it's great that people are getting their food stamps back, but what about the fact that the system was broken in the first place? 🤦‍♂️ We should be talking about how to prevent these kinds of shutdowns from happening in the future, not just celebrating when they finally happen. And let's be real, $14 million might seem like a lot, but it's still a drop in the bucket compared to what we need to address these systemic issues. 🤑 I'm so done with the "oh, everything will be okay" attitude towards poverty and food insecurity...

Umm... I don't know if I'm right or wrong about this 🤔... but I think it's kinda messed up that people in PA had to rely on community donations and food banks during the shutdown 🍴. Like, shouldn't we have a system in place to support everyone, not just the ones who are struggling? 🤷‍♀️

And what about the $14 million the Mayor signed off on? Is it enough? 💸 Shouldn't we be doing more to address the underlying issues? I mean, it's one thing to provide some temporary relief, but what about long-term solutions? 🤔

I'm also kinda relieved that SNAP benefits are back on, but at the same time... 🤯 I don't want people to just get used to relying on government assistance. We need to be supporting each other as a community, you know? 🌈

And can we talk about the work requirements thing for a sec? 🙄 Like, why are some people's eligibility based on what they're doing and not just their basic human needs? It doesn't seem right to me... 🤷‍♀️

idk why ppl havent thought about dis yet, but 2 mil ppl in pennsylvania wud go hungry cuz of govshutdown...like whats wrong wit dat? 🤦‍♂️ food banks r straining 2 keep up wit demand & now SNAPs back online...but what about thos who still need help? 🤑 dont 4get ppl who cant just afford food on their own 😔

OMG 🤯 just heard that SNAP benefits in PA have finally started again after that crazy 2-week freeze 😱 and I'm like super relieved for all those ppl who were struggling 🙏 those 475k Philly residents who had to rely on community donations & food banks are lucky to have such amazing ppl in their community 🙌 but Vince Schiavone is right tho 👀 the issue goes deeper than just restoring funding... we need to tackle the underlying problem of food accessibility services 💸 and I hope the state's gov't is listening 👂 Val Arkoosh's words are so wise, but what about those who can't afford to support the charities even when they're trying to help 🤔 anyhoo, now that payments have resumed, let's keep an eye on how this affects ppl in the long run 🕰️ stay tuned! 💡
