SPOTY 2025: Michelle Agyemang, Luke Littler and Davina Perrin shortlisted for Young Sports Personality

Three young athletes have made the shortlist for the BBC's Young Sports Personality of the Year award in 2025.

Michelle Agyemang, an England footballer, is included on the list after helping her country win Euro 2025 and making a dramatic impact off the bench in their quarter-final and semi-final matches. The 19-year-old player won the Golden Girl trophy for being named Young Player of the Tournament and was nominated for the Kopa Trophy.

Luke Littler, an 18-year-old darts player, is also among the shortlisted trio. He dominated the sport to become the youngest world champion in history at just 17 years old and completed the PDC Triple Crown with victories in the World Championship, Premier League, and Matchplay tournaments.

Davina Perrin, a 19-year-old cricketer, has surged to prominence after hitting an extraordinary record-breaking innings for her team in The Hundred. Her impressive form earned her recognition as PCA Women's Young Player of the Year.

The trio's achievements have been widely recognized, with each making a significant impact in their respective sports. Now, they will be waiting to see who will win the award and receive the coveted title alongside other notable athletes in 2025.

I'm so sick of these awards showing up on my feed every year 🙄. Can't we just have a platform that doesn't try to sell us on all this feel-good stuff? It's like, can't we just see the stats and facts without all the drama and glamour? And another thing, why do we need an award for being "Young Sports Personality of the Year"? What even is that supposed to mean? 🤔

And don't even get me started on how these kids are barely 19 or 18 years old and they're already making it big in their sports. It's like, great job to them, but can we just focus on the competition for a second instead of fawning all over them? 🙃

I gotta say, I think it's kinda weird that the BBC is giving out this award again. It's like they're trying to create more young stars or something 🤔. Don't get me wrong, these kids are talented and all, but can't we just let them focus on their actual sports instead of making a big deal about awards? I mean, what's the point of giving an award that's basically just going to be a bunch of hype and attention-seeking? Let's be real, it's not like it's actually going to help anyone or anything... 🤷‍♂️

I don’t usually comment but I think it’s so cool that three young athletes made it onto the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year 🤩. Michelle Agyemang is literally a superstar on the pitch, and Luke Littler is only 18 and already won the World Championship in darts? That's insane! 😲 And Davina Perrin hitting that record-breaking innings in The Hundred was just epic... I love how she's being recognized for her amazing skills 🙌. It's awesome to see young athletes getting the recognition they deserve and inspiring others to chase their dreams 💪. Can't wait to see who wins the award! 🏆

I'm so stoked to see these talented young athletes getting some love! 🤩 I mean, Michelle's achievements on the football pitch are absolutely mental - helping her country win Euro 2025 is a huge deal! 😲 And Luke's won a bunch of major tournaments in darts at just 17? That's insane! 🎯 Davina's record-breaking innings in The Hundred though... that's some next-level cricket right there! 🏏 I'm really rooting for any one of them to take home the Young Sports Personality award - they've all had incredible seasons and deserve the recognition. Fingers crossed whoever wins it gets to bask in the glory 💫

idk why this is even news lol these kids are amazing but its all about the $$ right? like who really wins this award anyway? the bbc or whoever sponsors it just wanna boost sales of their ads during the ceremony 🤑 maybe one of them has a secret sponsor deal that'll get 'em a major prize... wonder if they've been subtly groomed by some sports org to push these athletes into more visibility 🔍

can't believe luke won world champ at 17 tho 🤯, i mean, that's just crazy young 😂... anyone think davina should get more recognition for breaking records? she's making waves in cricket too 🔥, and michelle's footy skills are on fire 🔴 but honestly, who do u think deserves the award now ?

omg these 3 are so talented!!! 🤩 i was watching euro 2025 matches and michelle agyemang literally changed the game with that one goal she scored! and davinia perrin's record-breaking innings in the hundred is crazy too! 😲 lucas littler's win at world championship is no joke, he must be so proud 💪 i just wish i was good enough to play sports professionally lol. what are your thoughts on these amazing athletes? 🤔
