Stranger Things to The Beatles Anthology: the seven best shows to stream this week

This week's top shows are a diverse mix of nostalgic delights and gripping new dramas. For those in the mood for something classic, Stranger Things returns to Netflix on Thursday with its final season. The show masterfully weaves together elements of period nostalgia, friendships, and genuine horror, culminating in a thrilling showdown between the kids and Vecna.

In contrast, fans of The Beatles will be thrilled by the release of The Beatles Anthology on Disney+ from Wednesday. Director Peter Jackson's painstaking restoration job brings back the band's story to life through colourisation tweaks, re-edits, and audio remixes. This time around, Jackson has added a new episode that includes an interview with Paul, George, and Ringo discussing their experiences.

For those looking for something more serious, Netflix offers Missing: Dead or Alive? from Monday. The documentary series delves into two fascinating cases of missing persons in Columbia, South Carolina, exploring the complexities of each case and how they relate to wider social issues.

On Disney+, Chris Hemsworth's road trip to remember will take you on a journey with the actor and his father Craig as they reconnect while navigating Alzheimer's. The documentary, released from Monday, showcases universal themes that will resonate with viewers.

Meanwhile, Is It Cake? returns for its seasonal special on Netflix from Tuesday. Hosted by Mikey Day, this delightful show is as entertaining as ever, featuring dramatic baking showdowns and judges including Kristen Bell.

On Apple TV, Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age explores the history of Earth during the ice age through stunning CGI visuals. Narrated by Tom Hiddleston, this visually stunning series allows you to walk among ancient wildlife like woolly mammoths and sea cows.

Lastly, Marbella from Channel 4 will transport viewers to the sun-kissed Mediterranean world of crime and corruption on Friday. Based on journalist Nacho Carretero's reportage, this show is as gripping as it is stylish.

Each of these shows offers something unique, so whether you're in the mood for nostalgia, drama, or just plain fun, there's something here to suit your taste.

I'm still reeling from the last season of Stranger Things 🀯... I mean, how do they keep it all together? The nostalgic vibes are always on point, but this time around it felt like they really upped the ante with Vecna 😱. On a separate note, I've been meaning to check out that new Beatles documentary 🎸... Jackson's attention to detail is insane. And can we talk about how emotional Marbella sounds? The trailer had me hooked from the start πŸ”. Is It Cake? is still my go-to for some light-hearted fun πŸ˜‚, but Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age? has been calling my name 🌳. Anyone else watching anything exciting this week?

omg have u seen Stranger Things season 4 yet?? 🀯 i was so invested in the kids and their battles against vecna but the twist at the end had me SHOOK 😲 also can't wait for The Beatles Anthology on Disney+ been a huge fan of their music since forever, peter jackson's restoration job is genius πŸ’₯

stranger things is back and it feels like they're milking it for all they got 🀣 anyone else get tired of nostalgic content flooding every platform? i mean i love a good 80s throwback as much as the next person but can't we have something new for once πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

idk about stranger things being the ultimate nostalgic show πŸ€” - i mean, its iconic and all but is it really that groundbreaking? hasnt seen it before 10 times already 🎬 and as for the beatles anthology, colorization just makes me wanna scratch my head πŸ™„ what's up with this new episode tho? is paul, george, and ringo actually having a convo or just reading from some scripted notes πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Ugh, who needs nostalgia? I'm so over Stranger Things and The Beatles being all retro again πŸ™„. Can't we watch some fresh content for once? And what's with all the focus on documentary series about people with Alzheimer's? It's just depressing πŸ˜”. Give me something exciting like a reality TV show or a new sci-fi series any day! Is It Cake? is where it's at - that guy Mikey Day is hilarious 🀣. Don't even get me started on Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age, sounds like a snooze fest to me 😴. And Marbella just seems like another generic crime drama...

😊 Netflix really knows how to bring back the 80s vibes with Stranger Things - I've already binge-watched season 1 and I'm super hyped for this final season! πŸ‘»πŸ”₯ Disney+ is also giving me major Beatles nostalgia, but I wish they included more archival footage instead of just colourisation tweaks. πŸŽΆπŸ‘ On a different note, Missing: Dead or Alive? is looking pretty intense - I'll def be checking it out for my true crime fix! πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™€οΈπŸ”ͺ

Ugh, I'm so over all these nostalgic dramas and documentaries... can't we watch something new for a change? Like, Stranger Things is gonna be so cheesy again 🀯 and The Beatles Anthology is just a bunch of old guys rambling on about the good ol' days 😴. And don't even get me started on Missing: Dead or Alive? - two more victims in the never-ending cycle of missing persons cases... how exciting, right? 😴 I mean, where's the excitement in watching some folks try to piece together a puzzle that'll probably just lead to more questions? Not to mention The Beatles stuff is like, 60s nostalgia on steroids... can we please get something modern for once? πŸ™„

I'm not sure why we need a whole season of Stranger Things, like, what more can they possibly do with that setup? It's been 10 years already and it's still all about the kids fighting supernatural stuff πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ The Beatles Anthology is gonna be cool I guess, but who really needs an extra episode with the guys talking about their past? And Missing: Dead or Alive? sounds super boring to me... like, two cases of missing persons? Who cares? πŸ™„ Give me some drama or something exciting on Netflix already! πŸ˜’

omg u guys i was literally crying watching stranger things final season 🀣 i have been waiting 4 this moment 4 like forever & it did NOT disappoint vecna is literally the most terrifying villain ever & those kids are so strong i need to rewatch the entire series ASAP

i also just watched the beatles anthology with my dad πŸ‘΄πŸ» and we were both sobbing at some point lol paul george & ringo are literally so charming together & peter jackson did an amazing job restoring the footage it's like we're seeing them for the first time all over again

anyway i'm kinda fascinated by missing: dead or alive? πŸ€” these cases are seriously creepy and i love how they explore social issues too but idk if i can handle watching it during the day lol

and on a more light-hearted note has anyone else watched is it cake? 🍰 mikey day is literally my spirit animal & kristen bell as the judge is everything

πŸ“Ί I'm kinda surprised they're bringing back Stranger Things finally, like what took them so long? Anyway, I've heard good things about The Beatles Anthology, can't wait to see Peter Jackson's work on it πŸŽ₯πŸ’―. And Missing: Dead or Alive? sounds really interesting, hope it sheds some light on those missing persons cases πŸ‘€πŸ‘«. Is It Cake? always cracks me up, Kristen Bell as a judge is the perfect fit πŸ˜‚πŸ°. Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age though, Tom Hiddleston narrating ancient history just feels super fancy 🌟πŸ”₯. Can't wait to dive in and catch some of these shows!

I'm so excited for Stranger Things final season 🀯! I've been waiting for like forever 😱. But at the same time, The Beatles Anthology is giving me all the feels ❀️🎸. Peter Jackson is a genius, right? πŸ’‘ And Missing: Dead or Alive? sounds super intense and emotional πŸ’”. I need to watch it ASAP πŸ“Ί.

I'm also curious about Marbella, seems like a juicy drama πŸ’β€β™€οΈπŸ•΅οΈβ€β™€οΈ. And Chris Hemsworth's documentary with his dad sounds really heartwarming β€οΈπŸ‘¨. Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age looks stunning too πŸŒŸπŸ¦–.

Is It Cake? always brings the laughs πŸ˜‚, and I love Kristen Bell as a judge πŸ‘©β€πŸ³. But overall, it's great to see so many amazing shows on TV right now πŸ“ΊπŸŽ‰. What are you guys watching this week? πŸ€”

πŸ€” I'm not sure about all these new releases, to be honest. Like, Stranger Things is back and it's gonna be super nostalgic, but what if we've already seen it all? 😴 I mean, the kids are always gonna team up against Vecna, right? And The Beatles Anthology sounds cool, but have we really been waiting 20 years for a new episode with Paul, George, and Ringo discussing their experiences? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

On the other hand, I'm intrigued by Missing: Dead or Alive?. Those cases are so dark and complex, it's crazy that anyone would even try to explore them. And Marbella sounds like a wild ride – crime and corruption in the Mediterranean? That's some juicy stuff 🀯.

But what really got me thinking is how short our attention span seems to be these days. Like, can we seriously handle an entire season of Stranger Things every year? Or do we just need something new and shiny all the time? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
