Strangers help after trailer full of sled dogs turns over on icy Minnesota highway - WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports | Fort Lauderdale

On an icy Minnesota highway, a harrowing scene unfolded when a trailer carrying sled dogs overturned on Interstate 494. The accident occurred around 10 am Saturday morning in Minnetonka, leaving drivers shaken.

Jack Christopher and his wife Kris were driving to an event in Excelsior with nine of their huskies from Silent Run Adventures in tow. However, the trailer's back end came loose, causing it to break apart on the freeway. As Mr. Christopher struggled to regain control, the trailer essentially split in half.

Miraculously, most of the dogs were unharmed, but one named Hoss managed to escape and was eventually recaptured by a state trooper with assistance from concerned drivers. The remaining eight canines were taken to a veterinarian in Excelsior for assessment and care.

The situation initially seemed dire, but thanks to swift action by multiple individuals, including a squad car and a police officer, the dogs received prompt medical attention.

While some damage was sustained, particularly with the trailer itself, the huskies appear to be recovering well. The Christopher family is grateful for the outpouring of support from the community, acknowledging that the dogs' safety and well-being are what truly matter.

The couple attributes their good fortune to the safety features in their trailer, which undoubtedly helped minimize harm to the animals during the accident. They plan to acquire a new dog trailer soon and have set up a GoFundMe page to cover expenses related to the incident.

🐺😬 I'm literally shaking just thinking about that scene on the highway... It's insane how quickly things could've turned from a regular drive to an emergency situation! The bravery of those drivers who helped catch Hoss and get the other dogs medical attention is truly heroic πŸ™. It's heartwarming to see the community rally around the Christopher family and their furry friends. I'm so glad most of the huskies are okay, it could've been a much worse outcome 🌟. Those safety features in the trailer definitely made a difference, let's hope they get that new one soon! πŸ’ͺ

omg what a close call for those huskies 🐾😱 i was driving in cali yesterday and saw a deer on the road like it could've happened to anyone lol guess you gotta keep those animals safe on the road tho πŸš—πŸ’¨ they must've been so freaked out when that trailer broke apart... one of them got away for a sec but thankfully was caught πŸ•πŸ˜¬ anyways, glad to hear most of 'em are okay πŸ™

Aww, poor Hoss! I mean, who needs drama like that on a Saturday morning? πŸ™„ Anyway, glad those huskies are okay, I guess it's not every day you see a trailer literally split apart on the highway...that was quite a scene to wake up to. At least they got the vet attention in time, hope all eight pups are back on their paws soon! And omg, a GoFundMe page? Because trailer insurance wasn't enough? πŸ˜‚

OMG I'm still shaking thinking about that trailer accident on the MN highway 🀯! I mean, can you even imagine having 9 sled dogs in tow and then BAM! Trailer breaks apart... I'm just glad most of them were okay, especially Hoss, poor dude πŸ˜”. I feel for Jack and Kris, they must've been so worried. But what's even crazier is that the trailer had safety features that helped minimize harm to the dogs 🀝. That's some next level thinking right there! I'm also low-key impressed by the community's response - like, who wouldn't want to help out a family with 9 adorable huskies 😊? And can we talk about Jack and Kris's sense of humor for setting up a GoFundMe page? They're really taking this situation in stride πŸ™. Anyway, I'm sending all the positive vibes their way... those huskies are gonna be just fine πŸ’•!

omg this is crazy what could've happened to those poor dogs! i'm so glad that most of them were okay πŸΎπŸ’•, but still it's super scary to see something like that happen on the highway. i can imagine how terrifying it must be for jack and kris to have all those animals in tow πŸš—πŸ˜±. and wow they're being super chill about the whole thing and just focusing on getting their furry friends back on their feet 🐾❀️. i'm a bit of a diy enthusiast myself, so i'd totally want to upgrade that trailer ASAP to prevent something like this from happening again πŸ’ͺ🏽. gofundme is such a great idea too - i'd definitely donate if they need it! πŸ€‘

πŸ•πŸ˜¬ OMG, that's insane! I was driving on highways yesterday and it's like, what if something like this happens? πŸš—πŸ’₯ Thankfully, those dogs are safe and sound. The Christopher family is super lucky, right? I mean, who needs a trailer with safety features when they're gonna crash anyway? πŸ˜‚πŸ™„ But seriously, the outpouring of support from the community is amazing! 🀝❀️ I'm glad the dogs got the medical attention they needed ASAP. That police officer and squad car are like heroes too! πŸ’• #DogsAreHeroes #TrailerSafetyMatters #CommunitySupport

omg this is wild πŸ€―πŸ• i'm just glad no one was seriously hurt, but wow 9 huskies in a trailer on the freeway? that's crazy talk πŸ˜‚ i mean i feel for them, those dogs are lucky to have escaped with their lives. and kudos to that state trooper who helped recapture Hoss πŸ™Œ I'm also impressed by the community coming together to support the Christopher family - that's what it's all about! πŸ’•

😩 just saw this on the news... truck carrying sled dogs goes off the road in MN and it's a miracle most of them are okay! one little guy named Hoss actually got away 🐺 and had to be caught by a cop, can you imagine?! and the trailer just split in half 😱. but honestly what really gets me is that they're trying to shift the focus to how great their safety features were instead of acknowledging that maybe, just maybe, they should've been driving slower or paying more attention πŸš—πŸ’¨. anyhoo, at least the dogs are getting the care they need and the community came together to support them πŸ’•.

ugh dont even get me started on this lol 😱 ... so theres this couple drivin with their sled dogs on the highway and their trailer just breaks apart on them... like whats goin wrong here?? 🀯 at least the dogs are ok i guess, but what about that one who got away? did he survive or was it a tragic loss 🐺😩 ... its not like they were even payin attention or somethin, look at their trailer, so many safety features... πŸ€” guess that only matters when the accident happens tho πŸš—πŸ’₯ and now they wanna start a gofundme page for new trailers lol like its gonna cost 'em much to fix this mess πŸ€‘πŸ˜’

😱 This is crazy! I was driving on the highway yesterday and saw some crazy stuff but this takes the cake! 🍰 I'm so relieved that most of the dogs were okay, I would've lost it if they weren't! 😩 The quick thinking of the drivers who helped get the dogs to safety is what really matters here. It's all about the #dogsafety and their well-being, as the fam said πŸ‘ Those safety features in the trailer probably saved some major fur-ever lives πŸΎπŸ’• Can we talk about how awesome the community came together to support them? 🀝 The Chris family's gratitude is totally understandable - it's a huge weight off their shoulders. Let's get that new trailer and help those poor pups heal ASAP! πŸ’ͺπŸ’Έ #HuskyRescue #DogLove #CommunityFirst #SafetyFirst #GoodVibesOnly

Just read about that crazy accident on the highway 😱. I mean, can you imagine having 9 sled dogs in tow on an icy road? 🀯 It's a miracle most of them are okay, but what really gets me is how quickly the community came together to help. Those state troopers and good Samaritans were like angels, literally saving lives πŸ™. And the Christopher family is so humble about it too, it's really inspiring to see them focus on the dogs' well-being. The trailer safety features must have been a lifesaver for those poor pups πŸ•β€οΈ

What's up with this? A trailer just splits in half on a highway like it's nobody's business 🀯. I mean, I know accidents can happen but... what if someone tampered with that trailer for some reason? It's not like they were driving recklessly or anything. And another thing, why did the dogs all get unharmed except for one? That's weird. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but you never know. The Christopher family is trying to spin this as just bad luck, but I'm calling foul 🚨. Those huskies were lucky to be alive and they should keep an eye out...

omg who needs a trailer that's gonna break apart on the freeway anyway πŸ™„. glad no one else got hurt besides the dogs, though. 9 huskies is like, a lot of fur and slobber in one place lol. i guess it's good they had some sweet support from the community... meanwhile the Christophers are probably just happy to have their sanity intact after that ordeal πŸ€ͺ. safety features or not, trailer breakdowns are just part of life on the road, right?

πŸΊπŸ˜” This whole thing just got me thinking about how we take for granted our lives as humans, right? I mean, these dogs were literally living their best life in that trailer, but one wrong move and it's all chaos. And what's crazy is that we barely even notice the beauty around us - like, a beautiful Minnesota winter morning, and suddenly there's this massive mess on the highway.

And let me tell you, I love how the family just puts it all into perspective - their main concern isn't about the trailer or the damage, but about making sure those dogs are okay. It's so humbling to see people prioritize what truly matters over material things. πŸ’–

omg that's so crazy!!! i was just thinking about my school field trip to the petting zoo last week πŸ°πŸ’•, but this is like something out of a movie! glad most of the dogs were okay tho... 9 huskies can be super chill though πŸ€ͺ, but still wowed by that state trooper and police officer who helped save those pups πŸ’―. and kudos to the Christopher family for being so down-to-earth about it all 😊. btw, have u heard any good dog stories from school lately? 🐾

what a crazy morning on i-494 🀯😱. so glad those dogs are okay, can't even imagine what it must've been like for jack & kris πŸ˜”. but seriously, that trailer did some crazy stuff - lucky they had safety features or who knows how bad it could've been? πŸ™
