'That's disrespectful': Ex-Jets star scoffs at notion that Drake Maye is an MVP candidate

NFL Analyst Denies Drake Maye MVP Credentials

Former Jets linebacker and ESPN analyst Bart Scott is questioning the notion that Patriots quarterback Drake Maye should be considered an MVP candidate. In a recent interview on "Get Up," Scott stated that he doesn't see enough from Maye to place him among the frontrunners for MVP, citing the team's coaching and quality of opponents as reasons.

Scott emphasized that while Maye has been statistically impressive this season, averaging 257.8 passing yards per game and a passer rating of 113.2, the Patriots have had a relatively weak schedule, with their opponents' combined winning percentage being less than .400. The team's strength of victory is also in line with other AFC playoff contenders.

Moreover, Scott noted that Maye has had some of his best games against teams below .500, whereas he hasn't seen enough from the quarterback to place him among the frontrunners for MVP. According to Scott, this is partly due to the talent and help around Maye.

However, despite these concerns, many sportsbooks have made Drake Maye the current favorite to win MVP at most odds, with some even listing him as the top contender. As Stafford has +250 odds for MVP, the competition is fierce, but it remains to be seen if Maye will ultimately take home the award.

In a bold statement, Scott dismissed Maye's chances of winning MVP, saying that such a claim would be "disrespectful" to other quarterbacks like Daniel Jones, Sam Darnold, and Matthew Stafford.

I'm tellin' ya, I love watchin' these analysts go at it online 🀯, but in real life Bart Scott's gotta keep his cool, you feel? I mean, the dude's just tryna protect QBs who actually put in the work on the field, like Daniel Jones. Drake Maye's stats are sick, no doubt, but when you look at the whole picture, it's hard to say he's gonna take down Stafford or Darnold. And what's up with these sportsbooks makin' Maye a favorite already? I guess that's just the way the cookie crumbles πŸͺ, but as a fan, it's always good to see some skepticism thrown around. Scott might be harsh, but at least he's keepin' it real 😏

come on guys πŸ€”... we gotta keep things in perspective here. just cuz Drake Maye's numbers are popping off doesn't mean he's automatically gonna win that MVP award. bart scott's got a point about the team's schedule being relatively weak - it's like, you can't put all your eggs in one basket, right? πŸ₯š and yeah, maye's had some big games against weaker opponents... but the rest of the season's still got to play out before we know for sure. let's not get ahead of ourselves here πŸ’¨ it's a competitive league, and there are plenty of other talented QBs giving it their all. maybe we should just enjoy the ride 🏈

I gotta say, I'm kinda surprised Bart Scott is throwing shade at Drake Maye πŸ€”. I get where he's coming from, the Patriots schedule isn't exactly daunting, but you can't deny Maye's stats are on point this season πŸ’₯! And let's be real, some of those games against sub .500 teams still count, right? πŸ˜‚ The fact that Scott thinks Maye needs to prove himself more is fair, but I'm not convinced he's not in the running for MVP. And honestly, wouldn't it be awesome if an underdog like Maye took home the award? πŸ† The sportsbooks have him as a frontrunner for a reason, and I think Scott might be selling Drake short πŸ‘Ž

I don't get why some people think Drake Maye is gonna win the MVP already πŸ€”. I mean, sure, he's doing okay with all those passing yards per game, but is it really that impressive when we're talking about a relatively weak schedule? 🏈 His stats look good on paper, but what does that even mean when we consider how many teams he's been playing against? It's like comparing apples to oranges, you know? 🍎 And the thing is, Bart Scott is right, some of his best games have been against teams that aren't exactly the strongest competition. I think it's kinda unfair to put him in the same category as guys like Stafford and Jones just yet. Let's see how he does when we're talking about real challengers πŸ†

I'm so dead about this lol πŸ˜‚ I mean, I get what Bart is saying, the schedule has been pretty weak for the Patriots but Drake Maye's stats are straight fire πŸ”₯ 257 yards per game? That's crazy! And his passer rating is no joke too 🀯 But at the same time, I can see why Scott would question it... have you seen how many of their opponents have struggled this season? It's like they're just coasting on autopilot πŸš—. And yeah, having a strong team around you doesn't hurt either πŸ˜…. I'm still gonna put my money on Maye for MVP though, he's been on fire πŸ”₯. Maybe Scott is just being too harsh, I don't know πŸ€”. The competition is definitely fierce with Stafford and Daniel Jones in the mix 🏈.

omg u gotta believe bart scott is right lol 🀣 Drake maye is gettin a lot of love but let's be real, their schedule has been super weak this season πŸ“‰ i mean, teams below .500? that's not exactly the toughest competition πŸ™„ plus scott said it himself, maye's had some epic games against bottom feeder teams πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ like what if he plays the patriots in the playoffs and gets smashed 🀯

idk how much weight this guy bart scott should give to his own opinion lol 🀣 like who cares what he thinks? the patriots are tanking or something so drake maye is basically throwing darts at a board if you ask me 🎯πŸ’ͺ but seriously bart scott just dissing drake for being on pace with stafford and jones? that's some harsh talk right there πŸ˜’ the odds say otherwise tho maybe bart should stick to breaking down game footage instead of giving his two cents on mvp candidates πŸ“ΊπŸ‘€

omg, can u believe bart scott is low-key roasting drake maye lol 🀣 the pats have been playing some weak opponents this season, it's not fair to just give maye all the credit! πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ and yeah, scott makes a solid point about maye having most of his best games against teams that aren't even above .500 πŸ“ŠπŸ‘€

MVP talk got me thinking... what even is an MVP, right? Is it just about stats or is there something more to it? I mean, Drake Maye's averaging 257.8 yards per game, but can he lead his team to a championship? We're still talking about the regular season here, not the playoffs. And Scott's point about the weak schedule is valid, we need to see how these QBs perform under pressure.

But then again, what does "disrespect" even mean in this context? Are we disrespecting the other QBs by even considering Maye for MVP? It feels like we're putting too much emphasis on individual performance without taking into account the team's success as a whole. I'm not sure if Drake Maye's got what it takes to be the real deal... πŸ€”πŸˆ

idk man... people are so hyped about Drake Maye right now πŸ€”. it's like we gotta take a step back and analyze what's really going on here. the pats have been playing some weak teams this season, that's a fact πŸ’‘. if maye was really putting up these impressive stats against top-notch competition, i might get it... but he's not πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. bart scott is just keeping it real, saying we can't dismiss the impact of coaching and team talent around him πŸ‘Š.

but here's the thing: sportsbooks making maye a favorite? that's wild πŸŒͺ️. i think there's more to this story than meets the eye... maybe people are caught up in the hype and ignoring some red flags 🚨. we gotta be careful not to crown maye just yet, or we might be disrespecting other talented quarterbacks like scott said πŸ‘.

omg u guys i just watched bart scott on espn and he was so salty about drake maye getting mvp cred πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ his point about the patriots' weak schedule is legit tho πŸ™Œ i mean if you're averaging 257.8 yds per game but your team's opponents are like, total trash it's not that impressive tbh πŸ’” plus scott said maye doesn't have a strong supporting cast and he's only excelling against teams below .500 idk man i'm still on the maye bandwagon πŸ€ͺ

I don't get it why people are still hyping Drake Maye for MVP πŸ€”πŸˆ. I mean, sure he's putting up some solid stats, but Scott makes some legit points about the team's schedule being super weak 😐. Like, if you're gonna give an MVP to a QB, shouldn't they be facing some tougher opponents? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ And yeah, Maye has had some good games against teams that are below .500, but that doesn't necessarily make him the best QB out there in my book πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ. Stafford and Jones have been putting up crazy numbers all season too, so it's hard to count them out just yet 🀯. Can we please take a step back and look at the whole picture here? πŸ“Š

omg i feel like bart scott is being super realistic about drake maye's mvp credentials lol the guy's stats are impressive but it's not like he's facing the toughest opponents in the league yet πŸ€” i'm not surprised that sportsbooks have made him a favorite to win, but it's gonna be tough for him to take down some of those top QBs like stafford and daniel jones πŸ’ͺ

i think bart scott has a point about maye's performance being more about his teammates than his own skills 🀝 i mean, if he's only getting the best out of his team, that's not necessarily a reflection on him as a player. maybe it's just a sign that he's learning and growing with his squad πŸ‘

omg u wont believe wat NFL analyst bart scott just said abt drake maye 🀯! he literally thinks patriots qb hasnt done enuf 2 b considered mvp fave... cmon guys, 257.8 yds per game? passer rating of 113.2? thats decent but i see what scott is saying, pats schedule been pretty weak & maye didnt have 2 face top-notch teams

Drake Maye's stats are fire πŸ”₯, but is he really the MVP? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Bart Scott ain't having it πŸ‘Ž. Those Patriots games against below .500 teams? Weak sauce 🍚.

[Image of a quarterback with a "not me" expression](https://i.imgur.com/EY7x4nB.jpg) πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ Maybe Maye's got the skills, but he needs to take on some top-notch opponents πŸ”₯. Until then, Scott's right to question his MVP credentials πŸ‘Š.

[Image of a sportsbook with odds changing rapidly](https://i.imgur.com/8z6u4oH.jpg) πŸ“ˆ It looks like fans are getting ahead of themselves... or are they? 😏 Only time will tell if Maye can stay hot πŸ”₯.

Wow 🀯 this is crazy! I mean, I know some people think Drake Maye is a great QB, but Bart Scott's point about the weak schedule being a factor is pretty interesting πŸ€”. And yeah, if you're gonna count stats, Stafford has been doing it for years, so that's a big advantage πŸ’ͺ
