These box sets and reissues make a strong case for buying the music again

I'm so over all these reissue madness 🤯! It's like record companies are just cashing in on our nostalgia and sentimental value 💸. I mean, come on, how many times can we really buy the same album over and over again? 🎶 For me, it's all about the music itself, not some fancy packaging or bonus tracks that don't add much to the listening experience 😐.

Take Patti Smith's "Horses" for example. I love the classic album, but do we really need to buy it three times already? 🤔 The extra tracks and demos are nice, I guess, but they're not exactly earth-shattering. And don't even get me started on the cost - it's like they're nickel-and-diming us to death 💸.

On the other hand, there are some reissues that really hit the mark. Like The Dream Syndicate's "Medicine Show", which is a labor of love for true fans 🙌. And The Who's "Who Are You" super deluxe edition? Yes, please! 🎉 I mean, who doesn't want to hear six tracks of live material and a rejected version engineered by Glyn Johns? 🤓

Ultimately, it's all about being discerning as a fan and asking yourself if you really need that extra track or bonus feature. Can we just appreciate the music for what it is, without all the extra extras? 🎶

omg i know what u mean!! record companies r like "hey we got a classic album that u gotta buy again...with some extra tracks!" and fans are all like "okay fine" 😂💸 but honestly who needs all those extras? sometimes u just wanna listen to the album without all the bells and whistles, u know? 💁‍♀️

🤑 I'm telling you, this is just another example of how record companies are milking their cash cow customers 🤔. They know we're all nostalgic for old-school music and we'll pay top dollar for the "complete" package deal 💸. It's like they're playing on our emotions, making us feel guilty for buying the same album multiple times 🎶.

And what about the real value of a reissue? Do we really need that extra track or bonus feature? In my opinion, most of these extras are just a bunch of fluff 📦. I mean, who needs to hear an unreleased demo when they can listen to the original album for the 100th time 👂.

And then there's the packaging - all this fancy artwork and collector's editions that add up to nothing but more money in the record company's pocket 💸. It's like they're treating us as consumers, not music fans 🎵. I swear, it's all about the Benjamins over here 🤑.

The over-saturation of box sets and reissues is starting to feel like an existential crisis for music fans 🤯. It's like we're trapped in a never-ending loop of nostalgia-fueled consumerism, with record companies cashing in on our sentimental value 💸. I mean, do we really need that extra track or bonus feature? Can't we just listen to the album and be done with it? 🎶 It's getting harder to separate the wheat from the chaff, and as a fan who values quality over quantity, it's making me question what's truly worth my hard-earned cash 💰. Maybe it's time for us to take a step back, assess our priorities, and ask ourselves: is this release really adding value to my listening experience? 🎧
