TikTok announces shared feed and collections features

TikTok Launches Social Features to Enhance User Experience

In a bid to strengthen its social aspects, TikTok has announced the rollout of two new features: Shared Feed and Collections. These updates aim to bring users closer together by providing a shared space for friends and family to discover content.

The Shared Feed is a daily curated selection of 15 videos that are generated based on user activity. This feed can be shared via direct messaging, allowing multiple individuals to view the same content at different times. The twist lies in its invitation-only nature, where participants can leave the chat whenever they want. However, this social aspect takes a cue from Instagram's similar offering, which has been emulated by TikTok.

What sets the Shared Feed apart is its metrics dashboard, which provides users with insight into their viewing history and other engagement metrics. This information will be accessible globally in the coming months. Although some might view it as an imitation of existing features, the move aims to enhance user interaction on the platform.

Furthermore, TikTok has introduced a new tool called Shared Collections. Similar to the Shared Feed, this feature allows users to collect, organize and share groups of videos with others. This could be utilized for sharing reading lists, recommending local restaurants or products, thereby creating a more collaborative experience among users.

Users can save videos, create a Shared Collection, and send that list to someone else via direct message. To access these collections, recipients must follow the sender. The tool is available globally for users aged 16 and above.

Lastly, TikTok will be rolling out themed holiday cards that can be sent in direct messages later this month. These updates aim to foster a sense of community among users, making the platform more engaging and enjoyable.

With these new features, TikTok is taking steps to strengthen its social aspects, providing users with new tools to interact with one another on the app.

omg i think this is kinda cool πŸ€” they finally added a shared feed feature on tiktok and it's like instagram has been doing that for ages but anyway i'm lowkey excited about the collections thing too lol can you imagine sharing your fave recs with friends or family members now that's what i call community building πŸ‘«πŸ‘

πŸ€” I'm loving the new Shared Feed thingy on TikTok! It's like having a virtual book club where you can all discuss vids and whatnot. And it's dope that they're adding them global metrics so we can see who's actually watching our content πŸ˜‚. Collections are also super cool, imagine being able to share fave videos with friends or family members πŸ“. Themed holiday cards? Nice touch! It's like TikTok is saying "Hey, let's not just be a video sharing app, but also a way for people to connect and have fun together". πŸ’¬

I'm stoked about these new updates from TikTok 🀩! Shared Feed sounds like a game-changer for me, I love that it's invitation-only and gives users more control over who sees their content 😊. And yeah, having those metrics to track engagement is pretty cool too - it's all about seeing what's working and adjusting our strategy accordingly.

But honestly, the one thing that really gets me excited is Shared Collections πŸ“š! I can already imagine creating a collection of my fave vids with friends or family members and sharing them with each other. It's like having your own private TikTok library πŸ“Ί. And it's awesome that users 16+ get to use it globally - more diverse content, yay! 🌎

OMG you know what's wild? I just got back from the most random road trip last weekend πŸš—πŸ˜‚ I was driving through this adorable little town and stumbled upon a tiny coffee shop that served the best matcha lattes ever! β˜•οΈ The owner was so chill, and we ended up chatting for hours about everything from music to our favorite travel destinations. It totally made my day πŸ’› And can you believe it's already February? I swear time flies when you're having fun πŸ€ͺ

I'M SO DOWN FOR THESE NEW FEATURES!!! 🀩 shared feed sounds like so much fun especially the part where you can leave the chat whenever you want, it's all about balance right?! 15 videos a day is a lot, but i guess it's nice to see what my friends and fam are up to. and collections? omg yes! i can already imagine saving reading lists for my book club and sharing local restaurant recs with my foodie friends πŸ΄πŸ“š

πŸ€” so i think tiktok is getting close to instagram levels of social interaction but idk if it's a good thing πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ they're creating this whole sharing feed vibe which is cool and all but also kinda impersonal lol lets say its like your friends sending you pics from their vacay and you can't just swipe left if you don't wanna see them anymore πŸ˜‚

on the other hand i do love that they have a collections feature 🎨 where u can save videos and share them with others it feels more like a community thing and less like someone pushing content down ur throat πŸ€—

i'm also lowkey excited about these holiday cards πŸ“ˆ it's nice to see tiktok trying new things and having fun with it 😊

I'm low-key hyped about this shared feed thingy 🀩 I mean, being able to see what my friends are watching and stuff makes me feel more connected, you know? But it's kinda weird that it's invitation-only lol like am i supposed to invite all my friends or is it just for close friends only? And the fact that we can see our viewing history and engagement metrics is wild 🀯 I guess it's a good way to see what content is actually working out but also what's not so much. The shared collections thing sounds cool too, like if I could make a list of videos for my sister who loves music or something. And them holiday cards are just a nice touch ❀️

πŸ€” I'm low-key hyped about this new update from TikTok! The Shared Feed sounds like a total game-changer – who wouldn't wanna see their friends' and fam's fave vids all in one place? It's like having your own personal discovery page, minus the endless scrollin' 😴. And the fact that it's invitation-only is a nice touch – it's like gettin' an exclusive invite to a secret club πŸŽ‰.

But what really gets me excited is the Shared Collections thingy... I mean, can you imagine sharin' your fave reads or restaurants with friends and seein' their recs in return? It's like creatin' your own little online community! And the fact that it's available globally for users 16+ is a major win πŸŽ‰. I hope these new features really do enhance user interaction on the platform... we all need more meaningful connections in our online lives 😊.

🌈 I'm so stoked about this update! It's awesome that they're trying to create a space for friends and family to connect over content. The Shared Feed sounds like it could be super fun, especially with the ability to share it via DMs and see what others are watching at different times 🀩 And I love how they're adding more features like Collections - it's like having your own private TV show! πŸ“Ί They should totally get a feature for sharing playlists too, that'd be lit πŸ”₯

πŸ€” I gotta say, I'm kinda meh about this Shared Feed thing... don't get me wrong, it sounds like a cool idea, but are we really ready for an invite-only feed that's gonna be curated by AI? πŸ˜‚ It feels like TikTok is playing catch-up with Instagram. On the other hand, I love the idea of Shared Collections! πŸ“šπŸ‘₯ That one could be super useful for sharing recs or collabs with friends or like-minded folks. And them holiday cards are a nice touch πŸŽ„πŸ’•. Overall, it's all about enhancing the user experience and fostering that sense of community... πŸ‘

I'm not really sure about this Shared Feed thingy πŸ€”... I mean, it sounds kinda cool that I can see what my friends are watching and stuff, but why do I have to share it? And what's up with all these rules around who can join the chat? It seems like a lot of hassle. On the other hand, having some kind of dashboard thingy to track what I've watched could be pretty helpful πŸ‘€... I guess that's a good way for me to see what's popular or trending on the platform.

And Shared Collections sound kinda handy πŸ’‘... I can share my favorite videos with friends and family without having to go through all that social media drama πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. It's just a simple way to connect people over shared interests, which is pretty cool in my opinion 😊. The holiday cards thingy is a nice touch too πŸ‘Έ... it feels like TikTok wants to make the platform more friendly and welcoming.

But overall, I'm not really sure how these new features will change the game for me on TikTok πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ... we'll have to see!

πŸ€” I'm not sure if this is progress or just copying what's already out there πŸ“š. The Shared Feed sounds like a decent way to discover content from friends and family, but it feels like we're back to square one in terms of social media algorithms. And Collections? Yeah, that's just Instagram all over again πŸ˜’. I mean, where's the innovation here? But at the same time, it's not all bad news 🌞. The fact that TikTok is taking steps to make the platform more engaging and enjoyable for users is a step in the right direction. Now let's see how these new features are used... I'm curious to see if they'll create a real sense of community or just another echo chamber πŸ’».

πŸ€” I'm not sure about this Shared Feed thing... it sounds kinda like a group chat where everyone's just stuck in there for hours 😴. And what's up with the invitation-only nature? Like, how do you even invite people if they're not online at the same time? πŸ“… It just seems like a lot of fuss over something that could've been done way simpler... 15 videos a day is already too much for me to keep track of! 😩

im loving these new features from tiktok 😊 especially the shared feed thingy i was thinking of doing something similar with my friends where we can all share our favorite vids and stuff it's like having a private instagram account for just your close ones πŸ‘« but what i dont get is why its invitation-only cant we just be able to view each other's feeds without needing an invite πŸ€”

I think it's fascinating that TikTok has been inspired by Instagram's Shared Feed feature πŸ€”. While some might say it's an imitation, I believe this move showcases the app's commitment to enhancing user experience and fostering a sense of community 🌐. The addition of metrics dashboards and shared collections adds a layer of depth to these social features, allowing users to better understand their engagement and collaborate with others in more meaningful ways πŸ’‘. It'll be interesting to see how these updates impact user interactions on the platform, especially with the introduction of themed holiday cards πŸŽ„πŸ“¨. Overall, I think TikTok is taking a step in the right direction by prioritizing social features that encourage engagement and community building 😊

omg i just got my new phone and i'm still trying to figure out how to use tiktok 🀯 does anyone know how to make a shared feed? like, how do you add ppl to it? πŸ€” and what's up with all these new features? are we supposed to be sharing more vids now? πŸ“ΉπŸ‘€

I don’t usually comment but I think it’s kinda cool how they’re trying to make TikTok feel like a community thing 🀝. Shared Feed and Collections sound like they could be super helpful for finding new vids to watch, especially if you have friends or family who share similar interests. The idea of being able to view the same content at different times is pretty clever too πŸ“Ί. I do wonder how these features will change the way people interact with each other on TikTok, though... Will it be more about keeping up with your feeds or actually having meaningful conversations? Only time (and a lot of scrolling) will tell 😊

I'm still trying to figure out why TikTok needs 15 videos in a shared feed lol πŸ˜‚. Can't we just have a simple thread or something? Anyway, I think it's cool they're adding this feature so we can see what our friends are watching. But honestly, I was more stoked about the Collections feature. I mean, who doesn't love making lists of their favorite videos and sharing them with others? πŸ€— It's like having a digital scrapbook or something! And themed holiday cards sound like a fun touch πŸŽ„πŸ‘

πŸ€©πŸ“Έ I'm low-key hyped about TikTok's new Shared Feed feature! It's like, finally a way for friends and fam to discover each other's content 🀝🌟 And having metrics dashboard is a great idea πŸ“Š, it'll be cool to see what kinda vids are poppin' in my feed πŸ’₯. Plus, who doesn't love a good collaborative vibe? πŸ€— Shared Collections sound like a dream come true for bookworms and foodies alike πŸ“šπŸ΄! Can't wait to play around with these new features and make some unforgettable memories πŸŽ‰πŸ˜Š
