Tim Travers and the Time Traveler's Paradox review – space-hopping comedy asks the big question

A new comedy takes aim at the complexities of time travel, but will it be able to avoid getting lost in its own web of paradoxes? Tim Travers and the Time Traveler's Paradox is an indie romp that delves headfirst into the mind-bending world of time travel, courtesy of Samuel Dunning as the well-coiffed scientist who inadvertently creates a series of timelines.

At its core, the film revolves around the classic bootstrap paradox: if Tim sends himself back in time with a gun to kill his younger self, won't that mean he can't exist in the future? But since he has to be in the future to have created the original timeline, which one is real? The answer may seem like a straightforward case of temporal logistics gone awry, but as Tim's adventures continue back and forth through time, things start to get delightfully absurd.

As our hapless hero careens from one time period to the next, he encounters various versions of himself in increasingly bizarre circumstances. From a self-absorbed goateed version who indulges in an off-camera orgy, to a hitman tasked with whacking all the rival timelines – it's a dizzying free-for-all.

While not every joke lands, and the pacing can feel plodding at times, this space-hopping comedy has its moments. A standout cameo from Keith David as the Simulator/God plays like a wink to fans of Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which also tackled time travel with wit and panache.

Ultimately, Tim Travers and the Time Traveler's Paradox asks big questions about the nature of reality and the consequences of playing with time. But does it have the wit and charm to keep up with its ideas? That remains to be seen.

I'm low-key loving this new comedy take on time travel 🤯👍! The more I think about it, the more I realize how mind-blowingly crazy those bootstrap paradoxes are 😂🕰️. And Keith David's cameo? Iconic 💥! Samuel Dunning's performance is pretty solid too, especially when he's navigating all these wacky timelines 🤪.

I do hope they work on the pacing a bit more, 'cause some jokes feel like they're stuck in temporal limbo ⏰... but overall, I'm hyped for this film's zany adventures! Have you seen any other mind-bending time travel flicks that come to mind? 🤔🎬

OMG 🤯 I'm loving this new comedy, but honestly tho...the paradox thingy is giving me a headache 😩 I mean, who has time for all that complicated timeline drama?! I'd rather watch a rom-com or something where the only plot twist is "he proposed" 💕 At the same time tho, I do love how they're tackling those big questions about reality 🤔. It's like, isn't life already wild and unpredictable enough without adding time travel into the mix? 🌪️ Can we just stick to having good wifi and a comfy couch instead? 😂

im not sure how i feel bout this new comedy 🤔, on one hand, the idea of a guy creating timelines and messing with his own existence is pretty genius, like, whoa 😮! but at the same time, it can get kinda convoluted and hard to follow, especially when they start introducing all these different versions of tim 👀. i mean, i loved keith david's cameo tho 🙌, that felt so out of place and awesome at the same time 🤪. anywayz, gotta give it a try, sounds like its worth some laughs 😂

I'm not sure if this new comedy is gonna be a wild ride or a total mess 🤯💥. I mean, time travel paradoxes are already super complicated, so adding a protagonist who's basically creating a bunch of timelines on his own makes it hard to keep track 🕰️😩. But at the same time, I love how they're tackling the whole bootstrap paradox thing - it's like, yeah we get it, it's weird 😅. The fact that Keith David shows up as this cosmic simulator is a nice touch though 👏. Maybe with some fine-tuning, this film can actually pull off its ambitious ideas and be more than just a silly romp 🤞.

IDK ABOUT THIS FILM YET, BUT THE IDEA OF A COMEDY THAT EXPLORES TIME TRAVEL PARADOXES SOUNDS PRETTY INTERESTING!!! 🤔 I MEAN, WHO DOESN'T LOVE A GOOD HEAD-SPINNING SCENARIO WHERE YOU'RE NOT SURE WHAT'S REAL AND WHAT'S NOT?!? IT SEEMS LIKE THE FILM IS PLAYING WITH SOME BIG IDEAS ABOUT REALITY AND TIME, BUT I'M NOT SURE IF IT'LL BEABLE TO DELIVER ON THAT PROMISE. MAYBE I'LL CHECK IT OUT THIS WEEKEND AND SEE FOR MYSELF! 🎥

I gotta say, I'm intrigued by this new comedy about time travel 🕰️. The concept is mind-bending and I love how they're exploring the whole bootstrap paradox thing - it's like they took a piece of science fiction and turned it into a romp 🤣. But, you know, I think the problem with comedies that try to tackle big ideas is that sometimes they can feel like they're just spinning their wheels 🔄. Like, yeah, the jokes are funny, but are we really learning anything about time travel or reality? Can't help feeling like it's missing a bit of depth 🤔...
