Tracking Glacial Change with Landsat and Radar

just read about this new study on glaciers and its mind blowin 🤯 they tracked 36 million satellite images to understand how glaciers are changin so fast now due to climate change... it's crazy how these massive ice masses are losin mass at an unprecedented rate 🌎 like, we need to do somethin ASAP about this warming trend... the study found that when temps exceed freezing point, seasonal variability in glacier flow becomes more pronounced... and its amplitude increases with each degree of warming above that threshold... it's all about understanding regional and glacier-type differences now 👀

🤔 The fact that scientists are finally getting a clear picture of how glaciers are changing at an unprecedented rate is kinda scary. I mean, think about it - we're talking 36 million satellite image pairs here... that's a huge amount of data. And the results show that when annual max temps exceed freezing point, seasonal variability becomes more pronounced and its amplitude increases with each degree above that threshold. That means, basically, if it gets warmer by just one or two degrees, our glaciers are going to be in trouble. 🚨💥
