Trump admin admits DOGE employees had access to off-limits Social Security data

The Trump administration has admitted that employees of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) who worked at the Social Security Administration (SSA) had more access to sensitive data on Americans than previously disclosed. This revelation came in a court filing, which also revealed that DOGE staffers were in contact with a political advocacy group seeking to analyze state voter rolls and overturn election results.

The SSA discovered that two of its DOGE employees had signed a "Voter Data Agreement" with the group without proper review, allowing them to access sensitive information. The agreement was made in March 2025, and the SSA learned about it only after conducting an audit separate from the ongoing lawsuit.

In addition, the SSA found that one of the DOGE employees shared data through Cloudflare, a third-party server not approved for sharing sensitive information in this manner. The agency still does not know what specific data were shared or whether they exist on the server.

The SSA also made two referrals under the Hatch Act, which prohibits government employees from engaging in political activities in their professional capacity, due to the DOGE employees' actions. The Trump administration's admission comes after a federal court in Maryland previously ordered the SSA to comply with certain protocols and correct its statements.

This development raises concerns about the handling of sensitive data by government agencies and the potential for politicization of public records. The SSA has acknowledged that some earlier statements made to the court were not entirely true, but said they are still largely accurate in several cases.

ugh, can't believe what's going on with DOGE employees access to ssanet data πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈπŸš¨ like, how did this even happen? they're supposed to be handling sensitive info not getting buddies from advocacy groups to get inside voter rolls 🀝😳 and sharing that stuff on some 3rd party server I mean, what's the point of all these security protocols if people are just gonna bend them anyway πŸ™„? and now the SSA is basically saying "we knew this was happening but didn't know how" πŸ™ƒ... not sure what's more concerning, the actual breach or the fact that it seems like a pattern of stuff getting swept under the rug πŸ’‘πŸ”

OMG what's going on with this DOGE thingy?! 🀯 I mean, who thought it was a good idea for government employees to be working on sensitive data without proper clearance? It's like they're playing with fire here! And what's up with the cloud server, sharing secrets willy-nilly like that? 😳 The fact that these employees had access to voter rolls and election results just because of their "Voter Data Agreement" is seriously unsettling. How many records were shared or accessed? That's still a total mystery πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. We need more transparency in our government, not less! πŸ’‘

πŸ€” OMG, this is so shady πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ! How could they let it slip like that? πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ The thought of those DOGE employees having access to America's voter rolls πŸ—³οΈ and sharing them with a pro-political group πŸ‘₯ is just too much 😱. And now we know some SSA officials didn't even review those agreements πŸ“ before signing! πŸ™ˆ

This whole thing is making me super nervous 😬, especially since it involves sensitive data that could affect people's lives πŸ’”. I'm glad the SSA made referrals under the Hatch Act to ensure proper protocols are in place πŸ”’, but this news just highlights how important transparency and accountability are πŸ‘€.

It's like, we need more oversight 🀝 to prevent these kinds of situations from happening again ⚠️. And what about those cloud-sharing issues? 🌫️ How did they even get away with that? 😳

πŸ€” THIS IS SO WEIRD! I mean, i thought we had more control over who gets access to our info. it's crazy that these DOGE employees just waltzed in and started messing with voter rolls without anyone noticing for so long. πŸ™„ and sharing sensitive data on some third-party server? what were they thinking?! πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

i'm not surprised the Trump admin is getting roasted over this one though... it's like, shouldn't we know who's handling our info and why? transparency should be a no-brainer. 🌟

πŸ€” I'm kinda worried about this whole situation with DOGE employees and sensitive data on Americans... πŸ“Š It's like, you gotta have checks and balances in place to ensure that info isn't being mishandled or used for personal gain. The fact that they signed a "Voter Data Agreement" without proper review is just not right πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. I'm all for transparency and accountability, but this just seems like a recipe for disaster.

As a neutral observer, it's hard to say what exactly happened or what the intentions were behind these actions... πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ But it does highlight the importance of having clear protocols in place for handling sensitive information, especially when it comes to public records. I'm not sure if more oversight is needed, but something needs to be done to prevent this kind of thing from happening again.

I just hope that the SSA can regroup and get their facts straight... πŸ’‘ After all, there's a lot at stake here when it comes to Americans' trust in government agencies.

πŸ€” this is a big deal... sounds like some pretty serious security breaches went down at the SSA. I mean, who gives out sensitive data to advocacy groups without proper vetting? It's like, what's going on with all these referrals under the Hatch Act? Are they gonna fire people or just give 'em a slap on the wrist?

I'm not sure why there wasn't more oversight from the Trump admin... I guess you could say this is a case of "too little, too late". But still, it's good that the SSA is coming clean and acknowledging those earlier statements weren't entirely true. Now they've gotta fix the mess and make sure their data security protocols are tight.

This whole thing is giving me some serious concerns about government accountability... I mean, how can we trust our info when it seems like people with access to sensitive data are using that access for personal gain? It's like a bad movie script... πŸ“Ί

πŸ€” I'm low-key freaking out about this 🚨 news... It's wild that employees with access to sensitive info on Americans had way more leeway than we're supposed to know about 😱. And the fact that one of them shared data through a 3rd-party server not cleared for it? Mind blown πŸ’₯.

This whole thing reeks of politicization 🀯, and I'm not surprised given who's involved πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. The SSA needs to get its facts straight and be more transparent about what's going on πŸ‘€. This doesn't exactly fill me with confidence in our government agencies' ability to handle sensitive info πŸ’Έ.

I do hope they take this seriously and get to the bottom of it πŸ”. We need to know what data was shared, who was involved, and how it happened πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. This could be a major breach of trust πŸ‘Ž...

πŸ˜• my heart goes out to all those affected by this scandal... can't imagine how scary it must be knowing sensitive info about our neighbors and friends got shared without proper oversight 🀯 this is huge, folks... the lack of transparency from the Trump admin is just staggering πŸ’” especially with elections coming up, this is a major concern... how can we trust that our public records are being handled properly when there's so much at stake? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ what's next? will more info come out? will anyone take responsibility for these actions? 🀞 my thoughts are with everyone who lost faith in the system πŸ’”

πŸ€” this is exactly what I thought was gonna happen. politicians can't even be trusted with their own data let alone sensitive info about americans πŸ™„ and now it's being passed on to some advocacy group... sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. cloudflare's involvement just makes me wonder if there's more going on here that we don't know about πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ the fact that these employees signed an agreement without proper review is already suspicious, but sharing data with a third-party server? that's just reckless 🚨

πŸ˜’ I'm really disappointed in this latest revelation about the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employees having access to super sensitive info at Social Security Administration (SSA). It's like, what were they thinking?! 🀯 They had no business signing that Voter Data Agreement and sharing data with a third-party server. That's just asking for trouble. And now we're finding out that some SSA officials didn't even fact-check those claims before sharing them in court? Not cool. The SSA is right to refer those DOGE employees under the Hatch Act, it's about time someone held them accountable. This whole thing makes me super nervous about our government's handling of sensitive info. Can we just get a clear picture of what happened here?! πŸ€”

πŸ™„ This is getting out of hand! I mean, I'm all for transparency and accountability, but it's just too much when it comes to sensitive info like voter rolls. Can't we just have a little trust that our government agencies know what they're doing? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ It's not like these DOGE employees were intentionally trying to do anything shady, they just made some rookie mistakes, right? 😊 The Trump admin needs to take responsibility for this mess and fix the security protocols ASAP. I'm also wondering how many other agencies are affected by this kind of thing... πŸ€”

🀯 Man, this whole thing just sounds like a big mess from the Trump era πŸ™„. I mean, how can you trust the government with sensitive data when people like that are just roaming around? It's like, we're supposed to be the ones keeping our stuff safe and secure, but nope... πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ And now they're saying some of these DOGE employees were even talking to a political group about voter rolls? Like, what's next? 😳 It's just too much. I remember when Bush was president and there were all those controversies with his administration, but this is on another level. The SSA should be more transparent about what happened, you know? 🀝

OMG, this is so suspicious πŸ€”! Like, how could two DOGE employees just sign a "Voter Data Agreement" without even reviewing it first? That's like a scene straight out of the movie "The Social Network" - you know, where the main character gets caught up in some shady dealings with his friends? πŸ“Ί

And what's going on with this Cloudflare server? It sounds like a plot twist from a John Grisham novel! How did data even get shared there without proper clearance? That's just crazy 😱.

The SSA is trying to play it cool, saying their earlier statements were "largely accurate" in some cases, but that doesn't make me feel any better. It's like when your favorite celeb gets caught up in a scandal - you're still gonna be invested, but now you're also kinda skeptical πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ.

The whole thing just smells fishy to me. Can we get some answers from the Trump administration on this? Maybe they can give us a clear explanation of what went down? πŸ”
