I'm kinda surprised that Fix the Courts is making such a big deal about this. I mean, Emil Bove is pretty open about his past work with Trump and his attendance at the rally seems more like a chance encounter than some sort of clandestine meeting.
Still, you have to wonder if it's possible for judges to avoid appearances of impropriety altogether, especially when they've worked closely with politicians in the past. It's not just about attending events, but also about how that affects their perception among the public. In today's polarized climate, even seemingly innocuous actions can be scrutinized.
It's worth noting that Canon 5 is pretty broad – what constitutes "political activity"? Is attending a rally even considered that? I'm not saying Bove did anything wrong, but it's good to have an open discussion about these rules and how they're enforced.
This is getting out of hand. I mean, come on, Judge Bove was his lawyer and now he gets to attend Trump rallies? The fix is in for sure if you ask me... I don't think impartiality is exactly what's at risk here, more like personal relationships and a clear bias . What's next, judges attending Biden rallies too? How about we just stick to the rules and keep it professional, you know?
omg i dont get why he cant just watch trump speak like everyone else?? isnt it fine? im confused about this whole thing... so he wasnt just there as a citizen and now people are saying hes compromised? what does that even mean? can someone explain it to me?
