Trump directs Pentagon to match Russia and China in nuclear weapons testing

US President Donald Trump has ordered the Pentagon to immediately increase nuclear testing, citing Russia and China's recent advancements. In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump instructed the Department of War to start testing its nuclear arsenal "on an equal basis" with other nations.

The move comes as tensions between the US and its adversaries are escalating. Trump's announcement was made in the wake of a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea, where the two leaders discussed trade war truces. The timing of Trump's statement is notable, given the Kremlin's recent nuclear posturing and efforts to bolster Russia's military capabilities.

The US has not conducted a full-scale nuclear test since 1992, while China and Russia have not held any such tests in recent years. However, nuclear-armed countries such as the US have carried out simulated nuclear explosions using high-powered computers and related experiments.

Pentagon officials have not commented on Trump's announcement, which has sparked concerns among lawmakers. The Nevada congresswoman Dina Titus has vowed to introduce legislation to halt the proposed increase in nuclear testing.

The move is also seen as a response to Russia's recent announcement of a successful nuclear-propelled cruise missile test. However, it remains unclear what specific types of tests Trump intends for the US to conduct, and whether these would be comparable to those carried out by other nations.

The news has been met with skepticism from some quarters, including China's foreign ministry, which urged the US to honor non-proliferation treaties and pursue peaceful development. The Kremlin has also come under fire for its nuclear posturing, with President Vladimir Putin announcing the successful testing of a Poseidon nuclear-powered super torpedo.

Despite efforts by both Moscow and Washington to halt an arms race, little progress has been made in recent years. Trump's push to develop a missile shield has been criticized by the Kremlin, which sees it as a threat to its national security.

omg is trump for real tho ๐Ÿคฏ, like what's next gonna be him testing out nukes on mars or something? ๐Ÿ˜‚ he can't just order more nuclear tests willy nilly, that's like super irresponsible & we need some sanity in washington lol. and honestly, how many times do we have to see the us go all nuclear flex before we know when it's time to chill? ๐Ÿ™„ the world is already shook by russia & china's advancements, do we really need to match them on this level? ๐Ÿค”

I'm gettin' really uneasy about this nuclear testing thingy ๐Ÿคฏ... like, what's goin' on here? We're still dealin' with the aftermath of climate change and now we wanna test more nukes? It just seems like we're sleepwalkin' into a disaster. I mean, thinkin' that increased testing is gonna keep up with China and Russia? That's just not how it works ๐Ÿค”... what's the endgame here? We need to focus on diplomacy, trade, and workin' together, not tryin' to outdo each other in some arms race nonsense ๐Ÿ’ธ. I'm all for makin' America strong, but at what cost?

๐Ÿค” This is getting crazy, fam! Like, what's next? We're already at level 10 on the nuclear game ๐Ÿš€ and now we're trying to one-up Russia and China? ๐Ÿ˜… Trump's move makes me nervous, you know? The world isn't ready for this kind of escalation. I'm low-key worried about Dina Titus' plan to introduce legislation to halt these tests - like, are we really gonna take a step back from the nuclear table? ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ Can't we just talk it out and find a peaceful solution? ๐Ÿ’ฌ

Ugh, this is so scary ๐Ÿคฏ... like what if someone gets hurt during one of these tests? I'm all for being tough on Russia and China, but do we really need to go down this road again? ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ It's just not good vibes. We should be focusing on reducing tensions and finding peaceful solutions instead of increasing the risk of a nuclear disaster ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’ฅ

I'm getting really worried about this nuclear testing thing... I mean, we haven't even had a full-scale test since 1992 and now Trump is ordering the Pentagon to start doing more? ๐Ÿคฏ It's like, what's the logic behind that? And with Russia and China already on high alert, do we really need to escalate things further? ๐Ÿ’ฅ The US has such a huge arsenal already, can't they just focus on improving our defenses instead of increasing nuclear testing? ๐Ÿค” I'm also kinda curious about what specific types of tests Trump is planning... are we talking about actual nuclear explosions or more simulated stuff? ๐Ÿค” Either way, it's not looking good for global stability ๐ŸŒŽ

omg is trump serious? ๐Ÿคฏ he's basically saying we're just gonna keep increasing our nuclear capabilities to stay on par with china and russia? that's not how diplomacy works fam ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™‚๏ธ and what's up with the lack of transparency from pentagon officials about these tests? shouldn't they at least give us some clue what's going down? ๐Ÿค” this whole thing just smells like a power play to me...

๐Ÿ˜ฌ I'm not sure what to make of this move... increasing nuclear testing is like, super scary and stuff ๐Ÿคฏ Trump's just bringing back the old days, you know? We've basically been out of that loop since '92, and now we're talking about going full-on nuke again. It's like, can't we all just get along? ๐Ÿ˜• What's next, though? Is he really gonna do it without even consulting Congress or something? That's just crazy talk ๐Ÿ™„ And what's the point of testing our nukes, anyway? Are we expecting Russia and China to stop because... us? It just feels like a waste of resources and time โฐ

omg is this really happening?? i mean i know we're living in crazy times but nuclear testing?? like isn't that a big deal? ๐Ÿคฏ i don't understand why trump is doing this tho... doesn't he know how bad it could be for the environment? and what about china and russia? are they going to retaliate or something? i just feel like we're all stuck in some kind of video game where someone's always pushing the button... ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ˜Ÿ anyway, does anyone know how these tests even work? is it like a big firework show or what?

I'm low-key freaking out about this ๐Ÿ˜ฑ... like what is going on with our leaders? First of all, I get that we gotta stay ahead of the game and address global threats, but increasing nuclear testing just seems so reckless ๐Ÿคฏ... think about it, we're basically setting a precedent for everyone to do the same. And for what? So we can match China and Russia's moves? It feels like we're all just trying to keep up with each other in some kind of twisted game of one-upmanship ๐ŸŽฒ... I mean, can't we find a better way to resolve our differences without resorting to nuclear threats?

And don't even get me started on the timing of this announcement... it's like Trump is just trolling us all at this point ๐Ÿ˜‚... meeting with Xi in South Korea and then suddenly deciding to boost our nukes? It's just so confusing. I wish lawmakers would speak up more about these kinds of issues, because right now we're just left wondering what's going on behind closed doors ๐Ÿค...

OMG, this is so worrisome ๐Ÿคฏ! I mean, I get that tensions are high and all, but do we really need to escalate things like this? The US hasn't even done a real nuke test since 1992, and now Trump wants to just jump back in like it's no big deal ๐Ÿ˜‚. I'm not saying the other countries aren't being aggressive or anything, but a little diplomacy would be nice too ๐Ÿค.

And what's with all these nuclear posturing games? ๐ŸŽฎ It's just going to make everyone on edge and increase the risk of accidents or something. The US should focus on building bridges, not blowing them up ๐Ÿ’ฅ. I'm seriously worried about where this is all heading... ๐ŸŒช๏ธ

๐Ÿค” thinkin bout this is crazy why we gotta keep goin down this nuclear path dont we? like, what's the point of it all? isnt there somethin more we can do than just try 2 outdo each other in terms of destruction ๐ŸŒช๏ธ its like, we're forgettin about livin in harmony w/ each other & w/ nature. maybe instead of focusin on nuclear tests, we should be workin together 2 solve the real problems facin our world like climate change & poverty ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’–

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’ฃ๐Ÿ˜ฌ just heard about this... think trump is way outta touch ๐Ÿ™„ we're already at nuclear standoffs with china and russia, what's next? increased testing means more risks of accidents or even miscalculations by our own military ๐Ÿ”ฅ not sure what kind of 'equality' he thinks they'll be getting, seems like just a power trip to me ๐Ÿ˜’

I'm totally down with more nukes ๐Ÿคฏ... I mean, what's wrong with showing the world we're serious about defending ourselves? Those Russians and Chinese think they can just waltz around and test their nuclear crap whenever they want? Not on our watch! ๐Ÿ’ช And let's be real, it's time to bring back some good old-fashioned military might. We need to show the world we still mean business. Those non-proliferation treaties are just a bunch of weak-kneed nonsense anyway ๐Ÿ™„. Bring on the nuclear testing and let's get this arms race started! ๐Ÿ”ฅ
