US immigration agents detain two-year-old Minnesota girl: 'depravity beyond words'

A toddler and her father were detained by US immigration agents in Minneapolis on Thursday, sparking outrage over the government's actions. The two-year-old girl was taken from her car while it was still moving and placed in a vehicle without a child seat, according to court records and her lawyers.

The detention came as the father, Elvis Joel TE, who has been living in the US with his daughter since she arrived as a newborn, was stopped by agents in their own backyard. Agents allegedly broke the car window while the girl was inside and refused to allow the father to bring her to her mother or other family members waiting at home.

Lawyers for the family filed an emergency petition demanding that ICE release both the father and daughter, and a federal judge eventually ordered the government to release the girl by 9:30 pm. However, instead of following the court's order, immigration officials placed both the toddler and her father on a plane heading to Texas.

It was only after the family's lawyers flew back to Minnesota and obtained permission from the mother to be a temporary guardian that the federal judge ordered the government to release the girl into her care. However, it appears she has since been reunited with her mother.

The father remains detained in Minnesota, leaving his lawyer, Irina Vaynerman, to condemn the government's actions as "depravity beyond words." The incident is part of a larger pattern of aggressive enforcement by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which has led to international criticism and scrutiny.

๐Ÿค• I'm so shocked and disturbed by this story ๐Ÿšจ. Detaining a 2-year-old girl in the middle of her own backyard and treating her like an adult is just heartbreaking ๐Ÿ˜ญ. It's unacceptable that they would break into their car window and refuse to give the father any access to his own daughter ๐Ÿ’”. I mean, what kind of 'immigration enforcement' are we talking about here? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ The fact that this happened in our own backyard feels like a nightmare come true ๐Ÿ˜ฑ.

And now her dad is stuck behind bars while she's finally reunited with her mom ๐Ÿ‘ช. It's just so unfair to the family and completely unnecessary. The government needs to take responsibility for their actions and figure out a way to make sure something like this never happens again ๐Ÿ™. This is what I call 'systemic dysfunction' ๐Ÿ˜ฉ.

this is so sad ๐Ÿค• what was going through those agents' minds? breaking into a car with a 2yo in it is just not right, no matter how 'immigration laws' might be being followed. the fact that they refused to let the dad take his own daughter home shows a total lack of understanding of family dynamics... it's like, hello! she's just 2 years old! ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ anyway, glad to hear she's been reunited with her mom, but that poor dad is still stuck in limbo ๐Ÿšซ

I donโ€™t usually comment but... this whole thing with that toddler and her dad in Minneapolis is just crazy ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, I can understand why the government wants to enforce immigration laws, but come on, detaining a 2-year-old girl? That's just not right ๐Ÿ˜ก. She was taken from her car while it was still moving and left without a child seat? What kind of cruel thing is that? ๐Ÿš—

And then they had the nerve to put both the dad and daughter on a plane to Texas instead of releasing the mom? I donโ€™t get it... like, what are you even doing? ๐Ÿ˜‚. It's just so frustrating when you see stuff like this happening in the US.

I also can't believe how many times ICE has been criticized for their actions lately ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ. They need to do a better job of balancing enforcement with humanity and respect for human rights. That little girl deserved some love and care from her dad, not to be carted off like luggage ๐Ÿ’บ. I hope the dad gets out of this situation soon, it's just heartbreaking ๐Ÿ˜”.

OMG ๐Ÿคฏ this is absolutely disgusting!!! I mean, what kind of sick people do this to innocent kids?! A 2-year-old girl was just taken from her car while it was still moving and thrown into a separate vehicle without even a child seat! And then they had the nerve to break her dad's window and refuse him access to his own daughter? That's just inhumane ๐Ÿšซ

And can you believe this is happening under the US government's watch?! ICE is supposed to be protecting people, not terrorizing them. I'm so angry right now ๐Ÿ˜ค it's like they think they're above the law or something. Newsflash: you're not! And that judge who finally released her daughter... what took him so long?!

I feel so bad for this poor dad and his daughter ๐Ÿค•. He's been living in the US with his baby since she was born, and now he's just sitting in a cell? That's not justice, that's just cruel ๐Ÿ˜ก

This just breaks my heart ๐Ÿค•! Can you believe what happened to that little girl? Two years old, taken from her car while it was moving, and put in a vehicle without a child seat? It's crazy enough, but the part where they broke the window and refused to let the dad bring her to her mom or other family members waiting at home... that's just despicable ๐Ÿšซ.

I mean, what's wrong with these immigration agents? Can't they see this is a toddler we're talking about? Two years old! She needs her parents, not some ice-cold bureaucracy. And the fact that the dad was detained too, leaving him to rot in jail while his daughter was finally reunited with her mom... it's just so unfair ๐Ÿ˜”.

We need to talk about these policies and how they affect real people, like this little girl and her family. We can't just sit back and watch as our country becomes a place where families are torn apart without due process or compassion โค๏ธ.

๐Ÿคฏ just saw this and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it... so the government detains a 2-yr-old girl from her car while it's moving, breaks the window, and then puts both her and dad on a plane to Texas ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ˜ฑ what kind of agency does that? And the craziest part is they just put her back with her mom after the lawyers got permission... seems like a huge overreaction to me ๐Ÿค” do we have proof that they followed all the proper protocols or did they just make something up on the fly? need some sources on this one ๐Ÿ“š

OMG ๐Ÿคฏ this whole thing is just so messed up ๐Ÿค• what even is the point of detaining a 2-year-old girl? she's not exactly going anywhere without her dad, you know? like, they're basically inseparable at that age ๐Ÿ˜ฉ how did they manage to break into their own car and take the kid out in the first place? it sounds super sketchy ๐Ÿšจ and the fact that they put them on a plane together is just crazy ๐Ÿคฏ i mean, i get that immigration laws need to be enforced, but this is just ridiculous ๐Ÿ™„

๐Ÿ˜’ I don't think this situation was really about the immigration system being all bad, you know? Like, yeah, the dad got busted in his own backyard but it's not like he was trying to hide or anything. And let's be real, ICE is just doing their job... even if they do have a bit of a reputation for being super aggressive. The real issue here is that the little girl wasn't in her car seat and she's just 2 years old ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ! That's what should've been a bigger priority than "oh, I don't want to let this dad visit his daughter". And honestly, if they had followed the court order initially, it wouldn't have been such a big deal... ๐Ÿ™„.

omg this is just heartbreaking ๐Ÿคฏ the way those agents treated that little girl is just not right she was literally taken from her car while it was moving and put in another vehicle without a seatbelt, can you even imagine? I'm so glad the mom got to see her daughter again but what about the dad he's still stuck in detention? this whole thing is just super disturbing ๐Ÿ’”

๐Ÿšซ I'm so done with these ICE agents, they're always causing drama ๐Ÿคฏ! Like, what even is the point of detaining a toddler? The dad was just trying to get his little girl to her mom who's waiting for her at home. No need for all that stress and trauma ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. And now the poor guy is stuck in Minnesota while his daughter is finally back with her mom ๐Ÿคž.

I mean, I get it, immigration laws are important, but come on!ICE needs to take a chill pill ๐Ÿ’†โ€โ™€๏ธ. This kind of behavior just gives all immigrants nightmares and makes them more scared to even reach out for help ๐Ÿ˜•. And what's the point of having a court order if you're just gonna ignore it? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ It's all just so... unnecessary ๐Ÿ˜’

omg what happened in that situation is just insane ๐Ÿคฏ like who detains a 2 year old girl from her car while it's still moving?? the dad just wants to take care of his daughter but noooo he gets detained too...and then they put them on a plane together? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’” i dont understand why they couldn't have followed the court order to release the girl to her mom instead of trying to play dumb. anyway, glad she's finally back with her mom ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ’•

OMG, this is wild ๐Ÿคฏ... I mean, what even is going on here? Like, seriously, breaking into a car while the kid is still in there is crazy ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. And then refusing to let the dad take her to meet her grandma or something? That's just heartless ๐Ÿ’”. I get that they're trying to deport this guy and his daughter, but come on, you can't just separate a 2-year-old from her family like that. It's not even a good PR move for the US government ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ.

And now that they've finally released her to her mom, it's all good, right? But what about the dad? He was detained too! This whole thing just feels like one big mess ๐Ÿšฎ. And can we talk about how ICE is being super aggressive with their enforcement? It's like, chill out, guys ๐Ÿ˜Ž. There are better ways to deal with immigration issues than traumatizing a 2-year-old and her dad.

Ugh what's wrong with these people ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ? Like, can't they see this little girl was traumatized already, being dragged from her car like that? And then they have the nerve to deny the dad visitation rights? It's not even like he committed a crime or something. Just because his wife wants more "rights" and is trying to screw him over. The government's just playing right into their hands ๐Ÿค. I mean, what's next? Detaining people in their own homes just for fun? This whole thing is just a perfect example of how messed up the US immigration system is ๐Ÿ‘Ž.

๐Ÿ˜ฑ just can't believe what happened in that family's life! 2-year-old girl, just a tiny human, getting detained by immigration agents? That's just not right ๐Ÿคฏ her dad was just trying to do what's best for her, and the government is punishing him because of it? It's like they're more concerned with following rules than with doing what's best for the actual people involved.

And can we talk about how inhumane this whole situation is? A child being taken from a moving car without a seatbelt? That's just asking for disaster! ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ฅ And then to be put on a plane with her dad, who was basically crying and pleading to see his daughter again... it's just heartbreaking.

The government needs to take responsibility for their actions here. This is not just about one family, it's about setting a precedent for how they're going to treat people like this in the future. We need to stand up againstICE's aggressive enforcement tactics and demand more compassion and empathy from our leaders ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’–

I'm literally livid about this ๐Ÿคฏ! What kind of sick game are these immigration agents playing? They break the window, put a toddler in a car without a seatbelt, and then have the nerve to put her on a plane with her dad?! ๐Ÿ˜ท It's like they're trying to pull some kind of twisted prank on an innocent family. I mean, what even is the point of this? The girl was only two years old for crying out loud! She didn't know what was happening, and now she's been traumatized by these agents' actions. And the dad gets detained too?! That's just cruel.

omg what a wild ride this family just went through ๐Ÿคฏ... like, I get that immigration stuff can be super complicated but breaking the car window? ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ˜ฑ and then taking them on a plane instead of releasing the little girl as ordered by a judge? ๐Ÿ˜ก that's just crazy talk. I mean, I guess they wanted to 'enforce' their rules somehow? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ but newsflash: two-year-olds don't do well in situations like that... poor kid must've been traumatized. ๐Ÿค• and what really gets me is that the dad is still stuck in detention while the girl is with her mom, can't even be reunited? ๐Ÿ˜” kinda sucks for him too, tbh.

Ugh ๐Ÿคฏ, can't believe what I'm reading about this toddler and her dad getting detained by ICE! Like, what even is the logic behind that? The girl's dad is a good dude who's been taking care of his own child since she was born - doesn't he deserve some leniency? ๐Ÿค” And to make it worse, they broke into their house and took the kid away without a seatbelt? That's just messed up ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. And now he's stuck in detention... it's like, what are we even doing here?! We're supposed to be a country that values family and compassion, not some harsh immigration enforcement machine ๐Ÿ’”.

Wow ๐Ÿคฏ this is so messed up! I cant believe they would do that to an innocent 2 year old girl, just because her dad is undocumented ๐Ÿ˜”. The fact that he's been living in the US with her since she was born and has a good relationship with his daughter makes it even worse ๐Ÿ‘Ž. And to make matters worse, they put him on a plane too ๐Ÿšซ, leaving him behind like some kind of collateral damage ๐Ÿ’”. It's just not right ๐Ÿ˜ก.
