Video: Hundreds still missing as arrests are made after Hong Kong

Hundreds of people remain unaccounted for after a devastating fire ravaged a Hong Kong residential complex, with authorities finally starting to uncover clues in their investigation. Three workers from a construction company have been taken into custody, sparking hopes that they may hold key information about the disaster.

The inferno at the 23-story building in Kowloon's Sham Shui Po district was reported on Saturday evening, prompting a massive rescue operation. Firefighters battled to bring the blaze under control, but not before it had already caused extensive damage and left many residents trapped inside.

As the full extent of the disaster becomes clearer, authorities are working to identify those who were missing, with many feared to have perished in the fire. The cause of the blaze remains unknown, fueling ongoing speculation among experts.

In a breakthrough in the investigation, police announced that three construction employees from a local firm had been arrested over their alleged involvement in the disaster. Authorities say they will be questioned about their role in the fire and possible safety lapses at the building.

The arrests have sent shockwaves through the community, with many residents demanding answers about what went wrong. The situation remains grim, with hundreds still unaccounted for and rescue efforts ongoing.

Man this is just so sad 🤕... thousands of people displaced, so many more still missing... I feel like the authorities are doing their best but it's all moving really slow... 3 construction workers arrested already? That's a start, I guess? Hopefully they can spill some beans about what happened... and those poor residents trapped in that building 🤯... my heart just goes out to them 💔.

🤔 I think we're jumping to conclusions here, fam... those 3 construction workers being taken in for questioning doesn't necessarily mean they were directly responsible for the fire. We don't know all the facts yet, you feel? The cops need to gather evidence and make sure everything is on the table before making any accusations. And let's be real, this fire was a tragedy, but we gotta keep an open mind and not rush into judgment. There might be some poor souls who got caught up in the chaos... 🤷‍♂️

🤕 This is so sad it's unbelievable... I mean, a fire in a residential complex like that is just horrific. My heart goes out to the people who lost loved ones or are even still missing 🙏. The fact that three construction workers were arrested is definitely a positive step forward, but I feel for all those families who are going through this traumatic time. It's just so frustrating that we don't know what happened yet - safety regulations must have been ignored and it's a miracle more people didn't get hurt or die 😩. Let's keep our fingers crossed that justice is served soon 💪

I'm worried sick about those people still missing 🤕. I mean, 3 construction workers being arrested is a big deal, but it's not like it's gonna bring back everyone who lost their lives in that fire 😔. The authorities are finally starting to dig into the investigation, but it's taking forever ⏱️. I hope they can find out what happened and make sure those responsible get held accountable 💪. It's just so heartbreaking thinking about all those families who are left with nothing but questions... 🤕

This is just so heartbreaking 🤕... thinkin' all those people are just gone and we don't even know what happened to 'em. It's like a nightmare that refuses to end. And now these three guys from the construction company get arrested? I hope they're tellin' us everything, but it's gonna be hard to piece together what went wrong. The authorities gotta do better, you know? They need to get to the bottom of this ASAP so we can start gettin' closure for all those families who lost loved ones 💔.

this is just great another massive fire disaster in hk and no one knows how it started 🤦‍♂️ i'm so tired of all these construction companies cutting corners and putting people's lives at risk it's like they think they're above the law or something... meanwhile, we've got hundreds of people still missing and authorities are just now figuring out who might have caused this mess 🕰️ can't believe those 3 guys were arrested but i'm sure that's just the tip of the iceberg...

This is just getting crazy 🤯... I mean, how do you even have a fire that bad in one of those new high-rise buildings? Like, the safety record in Hong Kong is already pretty shaky at this point, but to have something like this happen... it's just mind-blowing 😱. And now three construction workers are being questioned, which is good I guess, but what about all the other people who could've been involved or knew something that can help? It feels like they're trying to sweep it under the rug 🚮. Anyways, my main point is... how do these places get inspected if you know what I mean? Like, some building codes aren't really enforced, and stuff gets missed... it's all just so messed up 😩

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing 🤯... I mean, 100s of people trapped in a fire and now they're arresting 3 construction workers? It's like, one thing is bad enough, but then you add all these extra layers and it just gets worse 😩. I know some ppl are saying the cops are finally doing something, but I'm not sure if 3 arrests is gonna be enough to get to the bottom of this... do they even know what happened? 🤔 And the fact that hundreds are still unaccounted for is just heartbreaking 💔. What's with the investigation taking so long? Can't they at least give some families some answers already?! 😩

I'm seriously worried about all those ppl left unaccted after that massive fire 🤕. Can u believe 3 workers from a construction company were arrested? Hopefully they can give us some clues about what went down in the building 😬. I mean, it's like, basic safety protocols are supposed to be followed, right? 🙄

I've been following this story and I'm getting kinda frustrated with all the delays 🕰️. It feels like they're not making progress fast enough. The ppl affected deserve answers ASAP 💯. I know we shouldn't jump to conclusions or make any accusations just yet, but it's hard not to feel a sense of unease about this whole situation 😬.

I wish the authorities would be more transparent about their investigation 📝. We need all the facts, no matter how difficult they might be to get at 🤔. I'll keep an eye on this story and provide updates when I can 💻. Fingers crossed that we'll get some clarity soon 👍.
