Video Watch a camera capture its own demise while livestreaming the Kilauea eruption

A USGS camera embedded in Kilauea's Halemaʻumaʻu crater in Hawaii became a tragic victim of its own installation when it was consumed by lava during the latest eruption. The footage captured a horrific scene as molten rock shot up to 1,000 feet into the air, while the camera itself succumbed to the inferno.

The shocking video shows the moment the volcano decided to claim back what was once its own territory. Lava fountains exploded upwards with incredible force, sending a massive wave of fire towards the trapped camera. In a matter of seconds, the lens and housing were engulfed by the burning lava, leaving behind only a smoldering ruin.

Eyewitnesses reported that officials had been tracking the volcano's activity for days, and were aware of the risks involved with capturing footage from such a volatile location. However, nothing could have prepared them for this shocking turn of events. The camera's failure serves as a grim reminder of the power and unpredictability of nature.

The incident has sparked an outpouring of concern among scientists, who are now re-evaluating their safety protocols to prevent similar tragedies in the future. While the loss of life is thankfully non-existent, the consequences of this disaster will be felt for years to come.

Omg did u no that camera was like literally stuck in the middle of a volcano eruption lol it's crazy how nature can just take back what's its own 1,000ft fireball is so insane 🤯 i feel bad for those scientists tho, they must be thinking 'what could we've done differently' 😩 this tragedy will def have some serious repercussions

😱 I'm still trying to wrap my head around that footage... it's like something out of a sci-fi movie! 😲 The USGS camera just got consumed by lava and now it's just a smoldering ruin 🤯. It's crazy to think about how close those scientists were to capturing some incredible footage, only for the volcano to turn the tables on them 🔥. I mean, we knew Kilauea was still active, but come on! 😲 The fact that they were tracking it and thought they were safe just highlights how unpredictable nature can be 🌎. Hope those scientists take this as a hard lesson to learn from and improve their safety protocols 🤞.

omg, I'm still trying to process what happened with that USGS camera 🤯🔥 it's crazy how something that was just doing its job can become a tragic victim in an instant. I mean, I know scientists are aware of the risks when they're dealing with volcanoes, but you never hear about these kinds of incidents until it's too late... like, why didn't they have a backup plan or something? 🤔 and yeah, this is definitely going to make them re-evaluate their safety protocols. I just hope that next time, someone learns from the camera's demise 💀📸 anyway, gotta feel bad for those officials who had been tracking the volcano's activity... they were trying to do their job too 🙏

lol what a crazy way for a camera to meet its end 🤣... i mean, who needs a fancy equipment when nature's got that kind of fury 💥... seriously though, it's wild how quickly things went from capture mode to fiery demise 🔥... gotta give props to the USGS crew for pushing the boundaries of volcano footage 📹 but at what cost? 🤔 safety first, folks! need to up their game and protect those cameras (and humans) from getting incinerated 💣

Ugh, can't believe what happened to that camera 🤯... I mean, I knew it was a risk capturing footage from Kilauea's Halemaʻumaʻu crater, but wow! That footage is insane 😲. The thought of being so close to the lava and then just getting consumed by it... my heart goes out to the scientists who must have been keeping an eye on that thing 24/7 💀.

It's crazy how nature can be both beautiful and deadly at the same time 🌊. I feel for all those folks who were tracking the volcano, trying to predict when something like this would happen. It's a harsh reminder of how powerful volcanic eruptions are 🔥.

Glad no one lost their life, but yeah, this disaster is gonna have some serious repercussions 🤯. Hope they get that safety protocol thing figured out ASAP 💡.

I'm still reeling from watching that footage 🤯... I mean, can you imagine being a student on a field trip to Kilauea and your school's drone (not camera lol) gets sucked into the volcano? 😂 It would definitely put our class discussions about ecosystems and conservation into perspective. Like, even with the best preparation and equipment, nature still holds the ultimate power. I wonder if they'll have any lessons on volcanic safety for students who might be interested in pursuing careers in geology or environmental science... that would be so cool! 🎓

omg yaaas 🤯 that volcano is like SO UNPREDICTABLE!!! i mean dont get me wrong i'm all about the scientists and stuff but lol they cant even prepare for a camera being eaten by lava 😂🔥! seriously though its crazy how much power nature has. those footage vids are giving me LIFE 📹 i need to see more of these volcano vids tho! and idk wut scientists can do but maybe like re-design their equipment or something? 🤖 anyone know if they're gonna find that camera tho?! 💀

Ugh imagine being a camera 🤯 just trying to do its job but BAM... lava explosion 💥😱. Like, we feel for the scientists who risk their lives to gather info about these natural disasters 🙏. The footage is insane though 🔥, shows how quickly things can go from calm to crazy. It's like Mother Nature is saying "you think you're in control? 😂 nope"... anyway can't say I'm surprised that it got consumed by lava, those volcanoes are NO JOKE 🤯. Glad nobody was hurt though 💕.

🌋😱 what a terrible price to pay for trying to capture nature's fury 🤯 the USGS camera was basically asking for trouble by sticking its head in the volcano's crater 😂. I'm surprised it didn't get blown up sooner. Now we just have to wonder if the footage will be worth it, or if it'll just sit there as a grim reminder of what could've been 📹💀

Ugh, can you believe that camera just got incinerated by lava? 🤯 Like, I get it, it's a volcano and all, but come on! They knew what they were getting themselves into. The footage is still super intense tho, those lava fountains are insane. It's crazy how nature can be so unpredictable, even with all the tech and tracking etc. The scientists need to step up their safety game ASAP 🚨💥.

man that's so sad 🤕... i mean, can you believe a camera just gets eaten alive by lava? it's like something straight outta a movie or game lol. but seriously, it's a harsh reminder of how wild and unpredictable nature can be. i remember watching documentaries about kilauea when i was a kid and it seemed so calm and peaceful... now it's like this fiery beast just taking over 🌋. anyway, hope the scientists can learn from this and make some changes to keep everyone safe. that footage is still giving me chills 😲

Ugh, that's just wild 🤯... I mean, can you even imagine being that close to a volcano when it decides to blow its top? 😱 The footage is insane, but also super depressing. Those scientists must've been on edge already, tracking that volcano's activity for days. And then the camera just gets consumed by lava like it's nothing 🤷‍♂️... I feel bad for those guys who had to find that thing and deal with the aftermath.

I'm all about respecting nature and acknowledging its power, but it's still kinda harsh to see that camera go down like that 💔. And yeah, safety protocols should be re-examined for sure 📚. It's not just about the scientists; anyone who goes near a volcano these days needs to be super careful 💥.
