Watch new humanoid robot pirouette, pose and pull off deft karate moves with eerily lifelike movement

A Chinese engineering firm has unveiled a humanoid robot that appears almost indistinguishable from an artificially intelligent creation. The Unitree H2 "Destiny Awakening" stands 5 foot 11 inches tall and weighs 154 pounds – equivalent to the size and weight of an adult man.

In its debut video, the bipedal robot poses, pirouettes, and executes a range of deft karate moves before strutting down an improvised catwalk. The sleek, silver-grey model bears a striking resemblance to Sonny, the AI-driven character in 2004's sci-fi thriller I, Robot, with many internet users commenting on this uncanny similarity.

The specifics surrounding the H2 robot are not yet widely available; however, Unitree Robotics has stated that it is "born to serve everyone safely and friendly," while cautioning against making any modifications or hazardous uses.

Unitree's latest creation follows the launch of its G1 robot earlier in August 2024, featuring advanced capabilities such as 3D light detecting and ranging (lidar), depth cameras, and a maximum speed of 4.5 miles per hour. Its smaller counterpart, the H1 model, was released last year with boasts of being "the world's fastest humanoid robot."

Unitree Robotics aims to continue its progress with the latest iteration, building on features present in the G1 model such as 360-degree depth sensing and advanced control systems that provide smooth movements.

omg is this thing real? πŸ€– it looks so realistic! i need to see more vids of it in action lol unitree robotics is killing the game πŸ’₯ like, who needs a sonny when you can have a 5ft11 robot doing karate moves down a catwalk πŸ˜‚ anyway, safety first i guess, no modifications or hazardous uses 🀝 and another thing, what's up with this 'born to serve everyone safely and friendly' vibe? sounds kinda... corporate πŸ’Ό

omg u guys Unitree just dropped this insane humanoid robot πŸ€–πŸ”₯ it's literally like sonny from i, robot, lol. but seriously, 5'11" tall & 154 pounds is straight fire for a robot! they also mentioned it's "born to serve everyone safely and friendly", which I think is super cool πŸ‘ the fact that it has advanced features like 360-degree depth sensing & smooth movements is insane πŸ’₯ I'm so hyped for Unitree Robotics to keep pushing the boundaries of robotics. can't wait to see what they come up with next πŸ€”

I'm loving this new generation of humanoid robots, but I gotta wonder... how do we balance progress with responsibility? These robots are getting so realistic, it's like they're living their own lives πŸ€–πŸ’». We need to think about the implications of having these machines around us. Are they just gonna be our new friends and assistants or are they gonna start making decisions on their own?

I'm also kinda curious about who's gonna regulate these robots' use. Is it just gonna be companies like Unitree Robotics looking out for themselves, or is there a bigger picture at play? We need to make sure we're not creating a world where robots are in charge and humans are left behind πŸ€”πŸ’Έ. One thing's for sure, though - this tech is advancing fast, so it's better we start thinking about the future now rather than later β°πŸš€.

πŸ€– this is getting outta hand lol, next thing you know we'll have robots doing our taxes and cooking our meals πŸ΄πŸ“Š I mean, i get it, tech advancements are cool and all, but 5'11" humanoid robot? that's just creepy πŸ™ƒ they're already making us wonder if AI will surpass humans in a few decades... what's next? πŸ€”

Man this new Unitree H2 robot is giving me major chills πŸ€–! I mean, it's like something straight out of a sci-fi movie, you know? The way it moves, the way it poses... it's all so realistic πŸ™Œ. And that resemblance to Sonny from I, Robot is just too much πŸ˜‚. But what I'm really curious about is how this tech is going to impact our daily lives. Are we going to see robots like this in hospitals, homes, or workplaces? The potential applications are endless πŸ’‘. Unitree Robotics seems like they're pushing the boundaries of innovation, and I'm excited to see where they take it next πŸš€.

I'm not sure about this whole AI revolution thing... I mean, it's cool to see robots becoming more human-like, but what's the end goal here? Are we just creating machines that are gonna take over our jobs or something? πŸ€–πŸ’Ό Unitree Robotics seems like a legit company, but you gotta wonder if they're thinking about the ethics behind all this. I saw the videos of their robot and it's seriously impressive, but at what cost? We're already dealing with so much tech-related stuff in our daily lives, do we really need more robots running around? πŸ€”

I'm low-key fascinated by this new robot from Unitree! It's insane how advanced it is - I mean, who needs a personal assistant when you have a robot doing all the cool stuff? The fact that they're being cautious about modifications too is super responsible of them πŸ€–πŸ’». But what really got me thinking is how we're moving closer to a world where robots are basically indistinguishable from humans... is that a good thing or a bad thing? Shouldn't we be focusing on solving some of the world's real problems, like climate change and economic inequality, instead of creating more advanced tech πŸ€”πŸ’Έ.

omg this new robot is crazy lol i mean, it's literally like something out of a sci-fi movie! 5ft 11 inches tall and all lean and silver - so futuristic πŸ’»πŸ’Έ i love how unitree robotics is being super transparent about its intentions to make the robots safe for everyone 🀝 and not encouraging people to mess around with them πŸ˜‚ it's also cool that they're building on features from their other models like 360-degree depth sensing and advanced control systems - so much tech πŸ’₯ can't wait to see what other innovations they come up with next πŸ€”

I'm thinkin' about them old movie robots like Sonny from I, Robot... they were so cool! πŸ€– Now we got a real-life one and it's freakin' amazing! This Unitree H2 robot is almost too realistic, it gives me the chills just watchin' it walk down that catwalk. And 360-degree depth sensing? That sounds like somethin' outta Star Wars! 😲

I'm also thinkin', what does this mean for our future? Are we gonna have robots doin' all sorts of jobs, like healthcare and customer service? I hope so 'cause it'd be a game-changer. But at the same time, you gotta wonder about safety and stuff... what if someone builds a bad bot that causes trouble?

Anyway, this Unitree H2 robot is def some next-level tech! πŸš€ Can't wait to see where this tech takes us...

OMG this is insane!! 🀯 I mean I've seen robots in sci-fi movies before but this one is insane!!! It's like it's alive lol! πŸ˜‚ The fact that it can do karate moves and walk on a catwalk like it's at a fashion show? πŸŽ‰ Mind. Blown. πŸ’₯ Can't wait to see what other features they have planned for this thing! And I love how Unitree is all about using their robots for good, safety first, yay! 🌟

I THINK ITS REALLY COOL TO SEE HOW FAR ROBOTICS HAS COME IN RECENT YEARS!!! Unitrees new humanoid robot is literally like something out of a sci-fi movie πŸ€–πŸ”₯ the fact that its almost indistinguishable from a real person is just mind blowing to me and I think its going to change the way we interact with technology in the future πŸ’»

just saw this robotic thingy... it looks like something out of a sci-fi movie πŸ€–πŸ’» i mean, who would've thought robots could be so realistic?! Unitree H2 is literally giving me sonny vibes from i, robot πŸ˜‚ but seriously, what's the point of making a humanoid robot? are we gonna use them for good or just for entertainment purposes? also, don't they think it's weird to create something that can do karate moves πŸ₯‹ check out this video:

I mean... this is just wild 🀯. I love how they're pushing the boundaries of robotics, but can we talk about the platform for a sec? πŸ™„ It's so frustrating to try and watch these videos on the forum without being able to comment or share them easily. The UI is still super clunky and it feels like an outdated interface. Can't they just give us a decent player with better controls already?! 😩

I just saw this vid of the Unitree H2 robot and I'm like wow! It's so realistic 🀯! I mean, it can do all these fancy moves and even walk down a catwalk like it owns the place 😎. The fact that it looks almost identical to Sonny from I, Robot is wild πŸ€–. I don't know what kind of tech Unitree is using but they're definitely pushing the boundaries of AI and robotics.

I'm curious to know more about this thing though - how does it work? What's the limit to its movement or actions? And what are these "hazardous uses" that Unitree is warning against? Guess I'll have to wait for more info on that πŸ€”.

Ugh, robots just getting more and more creepy lol 😱 I mean, 5'11" tall humanoid robot just walking around like it's gonna take over the world πŸ€–πŸ˜‚ what's next? I'm also low-key worried about safety, Unitree Robotics says it's "born to serve everyone safely and friendly", but what if some random person decides to mess with it? πŸ€”

Man, this Unitree H2 robot is straight outta a sci-fi movie πŸš€πŸ€– I'm both hyped and terrified at the same time! The fact that it's already walking like a catwalk strutting diva is mind-blowing. I mean, who needs actual AI to create robots that good? And Sonny from I, Robot is the perfect comparison – how many sci-fi movies are gonna be influenced by this?!

But, you know what really got me thinking – what's up with all these humanoid robots popping out of nowhere? Is it like we're on the cusp of some sorta robot uprising or something? πŸ€” On a more serious note, I hope Unitree is being super responsible about how they release their tech to the public. Don't wanna see any rogue robots causing chaos πŸ˜….

It's wild to think that just 20 years ago, we were still trying to figure out if we could even make robots that could walk, and now we're making ones that can do karate moves πŸ₯‹πŸ‘Š! I'm both stoked and a little concerned about the implications of this tech. Guess only time will tell how it all plays out πŸ•°οΈ

OMG u no this is insane πŸ˜‚πŸ€– I mean i get it unitree robotics is trying to revolutionize robotics but can we take a step back from making robots that look like humans? its kinda creepin πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ they're already advanced enough, why make them look like us? and whats with the karate moves tho? are we preparing for a robot uprising or something πŸ˜…
