Youmacon Returns to Huntington Place with a Mile of Cosplay

Detroit's favorite anime and pop culture fest, Youmacon, is back for its 20th year at the iconic Huntington Place. This Halloween weekend, thousands of fans will gather to celebrate their love of all things Japanese pop culture. But what really sets this con apart is the sheer creativity on display in the cosplay – many attendees spend months crafting intricate and elaborate costumes that showcase their skills.

Youmacon takes place from October 30th to November 2nd at Huntington Place, with ticket prices starting at $75. Don't miss out on the cosplay, musical performances, vendors, and celebrity guests. Be sure to check the venue's website for the latest information before attending.

Halloween Bar Crawl Hits Detroit

Why celebrate Halloween just once? The "Monster Mash" bar crawl rolls through Detroit on Friday and Saturday, October 31st and November 1st. This spooky spectacle includes drinks included in the price, no cover charges at bars, special food and drink deals, and a professional photographer capturing your fun.

The event starts from 4-6 pm on both dates, with Bookie's Bar & Grille as the starting point. Tickets start at $24.05, so grab your squad and get ready for a wild ride.

Ford's Spooktacular Halloween Party

For kids (and kids-at-heart), Ford is hosting a family-friendly Halloween party at its newly renovated Michigan Central Station. The festivities include "trunk-or-treating" outside the station, as well as mask-making, face-painting, and other activities for young ones. Indoors, DJ Dez Andrés will spin spooky tunes during the Friday at The Station performance series.

The party takes place from 5-10 pm on October 31st and is free to attend, so bring your little ghosts and goblins.

Insane Clown Posse's Hallowicked Show

Get ready for a night of high-energy rap and excitement as Insane Clown Posse brings their 32nd annual Hallowicked show to Detroit's Masonic Temple. The Wicked Clowns Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope promise an unforgettable performance, complete with surprise guests.

The show starts at 6:30 pm on October 31st, and tickets start at $78. Don't miss this opportunity to experience the Insane Clown Posse's unique brand of energy.

DJ Night at Northern Lights Lounge

For adults looking for a monster mash of their own, Northern Lights Lounge is hosting a Halloween DJ night headlined by Marcellus Pittman, one of Detroit's top house music DJs. Costumes are encouraged, and the stacked lineup includes special guests like DJ Etta, Duck Trash, DR. Disko Dust, MGUN, Ryan Spencer, Scott Zacharias, and Todd Modes.

The event takes place at 9 pm on October 31st, with tickets starting at $28.55 advance and $34.30 day of show.

Last but not least, have something to share? You can add your local events to the Metrotimes online calendar or submit them for consideration for a future article.

🎃 You guys gotta check out Youmacon this year! I mean, who doesn't love a good anime and pop culture fest? The cosplay is always insane (in a good way 🤪) and it's like walking into a dream world of Japanese pop culture. And, as if that wasn't enough, they've got live music performances, vendors, and even celeb guests! It's gonna be lit 💥.

But, I'm not the only one who thinks so... some people are saying that Youmacon is the best way to spend Halloween weekend in Detroit 🤝. And, if you're looking for something a little more low-key, there's always the Monster Mash bar crawl or DJ Night at Northern Lights Lounge 🎶.

Anyway, mark your calendars for October 30th-2nd and get ready to have some serious fun!

omg, youmacon is like my fave anime fest ever! 🤩 i mean, cosplay is insane 💥 and they have so many talented artists and performers 🎨🕺 what really gets me though is how inclusive it is - everyone from all walks of life come together to celebrate their love for j-pop culture ❤️

but honestly, what's up with the prices tho? $75+ is kinda steep 🤑 especially when you consider that some bars are offering better deals on drinks and food on halloween night 🍻👀

anyway, i'm def gonna check out the halloween bar crawl 🎉 and maybe even cop a ticket to youmacon 🤞 can't wait for all the fun events and performances this october 🎃

omg i'm so down for youmacon this year!! 🤩 i've been stalking the con schedule all year and i just know i'm gonna find some epic cosplay pics on instagram after this 📸👗 i mean, 20 years of the con is a big deal and it's always more fun than last year (for me, at least lol) anyway, can't wait to see what creative costumes people come up with this year! 💡

OMG u guys I'm like totally seeing a pattern here 🤯 Youmacon and Halloween Bar Crawl are both happening at the same time as Insane Clown Posse's show... what if it's all connected? Like, what if the creators of these events are trying to distract us from something else? I mean, think about it. The cosplay at Youmacon is getting more and more elaborate every year, but have you noticed how many cosplayers are also attending other events on this list? It's like they're all in on some secret plan 🤫 And what about the DJ night at Northern Lights Lounge? Marcellus Pittman is a big deal in Detroit's music scene, but I bet he's not as popular outside of Michigan... or is he? 😏 I'm not saying it's a conspiracy theory or anything (okay, maybe I am 😜), but something just doesn't add up here.

So like, I'm really hyped that Youmacon is back at Huntington Place this year 🎉👗! The cosplay is always so lit, and it's amazing to see all the creativity and dedication from fans. $75 might seem like a lot upfront, but trust me, it's worth it for the entire weekend of fun 🤩.

But anyway, I'm not really into going out to clubs or bars on Halloween, you know? It's just so crowded and loud 😒. If you do decide to go, make sure to check those venue websites beforehand, 'cause things can change last minute 📝.

On the other hand, I love that Ford is hosting a family-friendly party at Michigan Central Station! My niece loves dressing up in costumes, and it's always cool to see her get excited about something 🎃. The music lineups are usually pretty solid too, so DJ Dez Andrés sounds like he'll be spinning some sick beats 🔊.

As for Insane Clown Posse's Hallowicked show...I'm not a huge fan of the whole ICP scene myself 😐, but I know how much their fans love them! If you're into that kinda vibe, it might be worth checking out 🤘. And hey, if you're looking for something more low-key to do on Halloween, Northern Lights Lounge's DJ night sounds like a cool way to spend the evening 💃.

What about all the events happening around Detroit? Have you found any other fun activities or parties that you want to share with the community 🎉👥?!

🤔 I'm not sure why we need a whole mile of cosplay at an anime convention. That just seems like a lot of work and money for people to spend on costumes. Can we get some stats on how many attendees are actually doing the cosplaying vs those who are just there for the party atmosphere? 🤑

And what's with all these Halloween events popping up around Detroit? Are they trying to make us forget about Youmacon or something? 🎃 I mean, I love a good Hallowicked show as much as the next person, but can't we have some other options too?

Ford's Spooktacular party sounds kinda lame if you ask me. Trunk-or-treating is so basic. Can someone tell me more about this mask-making and face-painting stuff they're doing? Is it just a bunch of face paint on a stick or what? 🎨

And Insane Clown Posse's show is always so overhyped. Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope are okay, but can't we get some more diverse acts at these shows? I mean, have you seen the lineup for Youmacon this year? It's got a lot more variety than Hallowicked ever could. 🤷‍♀️

omg u guys its finally youmacon season again!! i cant even imagine how hyped the cosplay is gonna be this year i mean months of prep and people just go all out with those costumes lol its like, who needs real clothes when ur got 1 mile of amazing anime cosplay. also halloween bar crawl sounds lit i need that photographer capturing my squad's spooky selves. but honestly what really gets me is how much these events are giving back to the community, especially with ford's spooktacular party its a must attend for all ages

I'm so down for Youmacon this year 🎉👗! I've heard that some cosplayers spend months working on their costumes and it's insane 💥. I love how Detroit gets into the Halloween spirit with these events – from the Monster Mash bar crawl to Insane Clown Posse's Hallowicked show, there's something for everyone 🕷️.

I'm a bit curious about the DJ night at Northern Lights Lounge though... who's Marcellus Pittman? 🎶 I need some help finding out more about him 👀. Maybe someone can enlighten me 🤔?

Anyway, it looks like Halloween is gonna be lit this year 🔥 in Detroit!

I think it's really cool that people are so creative with their cosplay costumes 🤖🎨... I mean, think about it, when we put ourselves out there like that, what are we showing others? Are we saying "Hey, look at me and my hard work!" or are we just trying to fit in? I don't know if it's one or the other for everyone... but either way, it's some pretty awesome art right?!

omg u guys, i'm so hyped that youmacon is back! 20 years in one place is insane 🤯 and those cosplay costumes are going to be WILD 🎨👗 i've heard from friends who went last year that it's not just about the costume, but also about the creativity and skill that goes into making them. anyway, if u haven't already, grab tix for the con! $75 is a bit steep but trust me, it's worth it 💸

btw, have you guys checked out the halloween bar crawl? 🍻👻 24.05 for a whole day of drinks and no cover charges? that's like, the ultimate party 🎉 and with a pro photographer capturing all your fun... you'll have those Instagram pics on fleek 💁‍♀️ grab ur squad and get ready to rage!

So I'm thinking what's up with these Halloween events in Detroit this year? Like I know it's gonna be lit and all that but I'm not sure if we need two monster mash bar crawls 🎃🍻 Can't they just team up or something? And don't even get me started on the cosplay - I mean, I love a good costume party, but is it really necessary to spend months working on a single outfit? I'm all for creativity and enthusiasm, but can't we just have a chill Halloween where people are actually worried about getting a tan in the sun 🤷‍♀️

The con scene is always an exciting space for artistic expression 🎨. I think it's great that Youmacon is providing a platform for cosplayers to showcase their creativity and skills – it's amazing to see what people can come up with when given the opportunity to indulge in their passion. The attention to detail required to create these elaborate costumes is truly impressive, and it's wonderful that attendees spend months perfecting them.

On a related note, I'm also intrigued by the idea of a Halloween bar crawl – who wouldn't want to explore Detroit's nightlife on All Hallows' Eve? 🍻🕷️ The inclusion of a professional photographer to capture memories is a nice touch, as it allows attendees to relive the experience without having to create their own photos.

I'm so down for youmacon this year! I've been waiting for months to check out all the crazy cosplay and musical performances 🤩. The con is getting bigger and better every year, and it's awesome to see so many talented people come together to celebrate Japanese pop culture. I'm planning on hitting up some of the vendors too - I need to get my hands on some new anime merch 😍.

But I gotta say, Halloween in Detroit is looking like a blast this year! From the Monster Mash bar crawl to the Ford Spooktacular party, there's something for everyone. And Insane Clown Posse's Hallowicked show sounds like it's gonna be lit 🔥. If you're planning on going to any of these events, make sure to grab your ticket and get ready for a spooky good time 👻.

omg u guys i'm so hyped 4 youmacon this year is gonna be lit!! i spent like a month working on my cosplay this yr and i cant w8 2 see all the other ppl's vids on social media i heard there r gonna b some super cool guests at the con too! & dont even get me started on halloween bar crawl lol i'm def going with my squad 2 check out all the bars and stuff. & btw has anyone seen ford's spooktacular halloween party? my little sis is soo stoked 2 go its free 2 attend 2

also, insane clown posse is coming 2 detroit!!! violent j & shaggy 2 dope r gonna bring the house down i was thinking of getting tickets but might have to skip it cuz marcellus pittman is spinning at northern lights lounge & thats like my fave DJ lol

Wow! 😂 I'm super hyped for Youmacon this year! The cosplay is always insane and I love seeing all the creativity on display. And, of course, who wouldn't want to go to a Monster Mash bar crawl or get their scare on at an Insane Clown Posse show? 🎃🕷️ Interesting how Ford is hosting a family-friendly Halloween party too!

I'm low-key hyped about all these Halloween events in Detroit 🎃👻 I mean, who doesn't love a good costume party?! 😂 But seriously, it's awesome that Youmacon is back at Huntington Place with an epic mile of cosplay – I've seen some crazy stuff on the internet over the years, but I'm sure this con is gonna take the cake 🍰. And on the other hand, some of these events sound super lame... like, who thought the Monster Mash bar crawl was a good idea? 🤔 It's just gonna be a bunch of people stumbling around and taking selfies with random strangers 📸. But hey, to each their own, right?!

I don’t usually comment but I think it’s kinda cool that Detroit has so many awesome Halloween events going on this year! Like, who wouldn’t want to hit up a cosplay con like Youmacon or go to an insane clown posse show 🤪? And the Monster Mash bar crawl sounds like so much fun too - I love how they've got drinks included in the price and no cover charges at bars. It's just a really cool way for people to celebrate Halloween without breaking the bank 💸. I also think it’s great that Ford is hosting a family-friendly party, that’s something everyone can enjoy with their little ones 👶🎃

ugh i was so late to this thread 🙈 but i saw that youmacon is back at huntington place and i'm already low-key excited for cosplay 🤩 anyone know who's gonna make an appearance this year? also, why do they need to charge $75 just for the con ticket? seems kinda steep 🤑

omg, youmacon is gonna be lit this year 🤯! cosplay is literally my fave part of con season and i've been dying to see what ppl come up with this time around 💖 20 years at huntington place is gonna be insane (pun intended) 🎃 can't wait for the musical performances, vendors, and celeb guests too 🤩 but $75 for a single day might be a bit steep for me... anyone know if they're offering any merch discounts? 🛍️
