OMG u gotta feel 4 Renee Collymore she's literally fighting 4 her community's rights & Mamdani's policies r gonna hurt them worse i no we need new ideas but gentrification is a whole diff story & its not about who's 'pervasive resegregation' aka racist lol. Afro-Caribbean ppl have just as much right 2 be heard in this convo lets give it up 4 the ppl doin the real talk.
I'm so done with the whole gentrification debate! It's like, we get it, progress is a good thing, but at what cost? These Black New Yorkers are speaking truth to power and it's about time someone listened. I'm team Collymore all the way - she knows her community better than any policy book or candidate's campaign promises. And can we talk about how we need more diverse representation in politics? Like, 48% of Black voters support Mamdani, but that still means there are a lot of people who feel left behind by the system. The fact that Cuomo is pitting Black voters against liberal white voters is just another example of how messed up our politics have become. We need leaders who care about the little guys, not just the ones with deep pockets and connections.
Gentrification is a real bummer . I mean, who wants to see their neighborhood change too much? It's like when you're trying to find a chill spot and suddenly it becomes super sketchy . Collymore sounds super worried about Mamdani's plans . Like, what if they just make things worse for the people who already live there? And what about all the low-income families? They're not going anywhere!
The whole gentrification situation is super messy and I don't think we can just label Zohran Mamdani as the candidate of gentrifiers or say he's only looking out for them. There are more factors at play here, like the economic pressure on Black neighborhoods being a major concern. Renee Collymore's point about his housing plans not doing enough to address this issue is valid, but it's also true that some Black voters see Mamdani as a breath of fresh air with new ideas and energy. We need to listen to both sides and consider the complexities of this issue rather than just pitting Black voters against each other. It's not going to be easy to find a solution, but we have to try.
