Why VAR offside images are not always what they seem

The Premier League has introduced a new system to help reduce the number of incorrect goals being awarded. The system, called "Goal Line Technology", uses cameras and software to determine whether the ball has crossed the goal line or not. If the ball has not fully crossed the goal line, the referee will check with the VAR (Video Assistant Referee) for assistance. This new system aims to reduce errors and improve accuracy in goal-line decisions.

omg I just saw that news about the premier league 😲 they're using cameras and software now lol i mean its kinda cool but also kinda scary like what if the tech is wrong πŸ€” i was watching a match last week and the ref didn't even need to check with var because the ball clearly crossed the line 🎯 so it's good that they're introducing this system but also hope it doesn't mess up the game too much πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I've been saying it for ages though, more cameras on the field would be better than just tech lol just saying 😊

πŸ† Finally! Goal Line Tech is here! No more dodgy goals, less drama for us fans πŸ’ͺ. I'm all for innovation in sports. The cameras are everywhere now so it's about time we get accurate refs. Less room for VAR errors too πŸ™. Now let's see some clean finishes and a more level playing field ⚽️. Can't wait to watch the matches with my mates without questioning every goal πŸ˜‚.

Ugh, about time they did this πŸ™„... I mean, who hasn't seen a goal awarded that's like, totally not even close? It's gonna be so much better with this Goal Line Tech, though. I'm all for it! They should've done this years ago, but hey, better late than never, right?

So, the cameras and software just need to get everything spot on, I guess. That VAR check is a good idea too, 'cause referees are only human, after all... (I mean, don't get me wrong, some of them are pretty good, but...) Anyway, this should reduce those dodgy goals being awarded, which is awesome.

I'm not sure what kind of testing they did to make sure it works properly though. Hope they didn't just slap it together and expect it to work πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. Still, fingers crossed that it'll be a game-changer for the Premier League.

just saw that premier league introduced this crazy tech 🀯 called goal line tech. so like, if there's a goal scored and it's not 100% sure if the ball has crossed the line or not, the ref will check with some guy in the VAR booth πŸ“Ί. apparently this is supposed to cut down on those super annoying goals being scored that aren't even in πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. i mean, who hasn't been watching a game where someone scores a goal and you're just sitting there going "wait, did it really go in?" 😩. so yeah, i guess this new system is meant to help reduce those kinds of moments. seems kinda clever πŸ‘.

πŸ™Œ I'm so stoked about this new Goal Line Tech system! It's about time we got some help from tech-savvy folks in the stadium πŸ€–. I mean, can you imagine having a bad day at the footy pitch and the ref giving you a wrong call? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Or worse, scoring an own goal and it gets changed to a non-goal 😱. This new system is gonna save so many players from those heartbreaks! πŸ’”

I love how they're using cameras and software to make the calls, it's like having your own personal assistant on the pitch πŸ“Ί. And if there's any doubt, VAR will come in and help 'em out πŸ‘Š. It's all about accuracy now, no more guessing or debating 🀝.

This change is a win-win for everyone! The players can focus on scoring goals instead of worrying about refs' mistakes πŸ†, and the fans get to enjoy smooth matches without those frustrating errors 😊. Bring it on, Goal Line Tech, you're gonna make the Premier League an even better league! πŸ’ͺ

omg i'm so hyped about this new goal line tech system!!! 🀩 it's like, finally something is being done about those super sketchy goals that were being awarded left and right lol like who needs 100% proof anyway? but seriously tho its gonna make the game way more fair and accurate... no more crazy comebacks or whatnot. plus VARs are already kinda good at spotting errors so this just makes sense. i mean its not rocket science or anything 🀣 but still props to the premier league for stepping it up and making the game better for fans like me who dont wanna see some dude scoring a goal outta thin air πŸ‘

I mean, think about it πŸ€”... if the Premier League is getting fancy tech, what's next? They'll be having robotic referees too, right? πŸ˜‚ Just kidding, sort of. But seriously, this Goal Line Tech system sounds like a game-changer. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but I hope it means less "own goals" for the goalies... literally πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. And can you imagine the VAR team's reactions when they're saying "nope, ball hasn't crossed yet"? Like, "uh, okay, dude, we'll just wait 10 seconds longer then" πŸ˜‚. Anyway, I'm all for more accurate calls – it's about time! πŸ‘

I'm so stoked about this new Goal Line Tech system they're rolling out in the Premier League 🀩! I mean, think about it, we've all been there where a clear goal is denied because of a dodgy ref decision, right? It's like, come on mate! You can't rely on human error all the time. This new system is gonna bring some much-needed precision to the beautiful game πŸ€.

I remember watching this one match last season and I'm pretty sure the ball had crossed the line but the ref rang it off... VAR got involved and they checked the footage and yeah, the ball did go in! It was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders πŸ˜‚. So, fingers crossed that this new system will reduce those kinds of errors and we'll get to enjoy more accurate goal-line decisions.

It's about time too, I mean, technology has come a long way since then... now it's just a matter of getting the cameras in the right spot and making sure everyone knows how it works πŸ€“. Bring on the improved accuracy and less frustration for fans like me! πŸ‘

πŸ€” The introduction of Goal Line Technology in the Premier League is a step in the right direction towards streamlining the refereeing process. While it's unlikely to eradicate human error entirely, this system has the potential to significantly reduce incorrect goals being awarded. The use of cameras and software to track the ball's trajectory is a clever solution, allowing for swift decision-making. By incorporating VAR assistance for partial goal-line crossings, the system also acknowledges the limitations of human judgment in these situations. This technology could lead to more consistent and fair outcomes, which would undoubtedly enhance the overall fan experience. It will be fascinating to see how this implementation unfolds, particularly in high-pressure matches where precision is crucial. The Premier League's proactive approach to improving refereeing accuracy is a testament to their commitment to excellence in sports governance πŸ’‘

πŸ†πŸ’‘ I think this is a great move! The goal line tech sounds super helpful, especially when it comes to those split-second decisions. It's like having an extra pair of eyes on the field πŸ€“. Just imagine if that last goal against City was a no-go instead πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. Anyway, I'm all for innovation and making sure these games are as fair as possible πŸ‘. The more we can rely on tech to help out the refs, the less chance of controversy 😐. Plus, it's always fun to see those replays come up on the big screen πŸ“Ί. Now, let's hope this tech gets tweaked a bit for all the weird goal line situations... like that one time Liverpool scored against Southampton πŸ€ͺ

I don't think this is gonna change the game much lol. VAR already exists and most refs are pretty good at making calls.
