Woman dead, 1 injured after being shot by a man while riding METRO bus in west Houston, police say

A devastating shooting occurred on a METRO bus in west Houston, leaving one woman dead and another person injured after being shot by an assailant who boarded the vehicle at around 2:32 p.m. near Walnut Bend at Richmond Avenue.

According to authorities, a young woman in her 20s was an innocent bystander who suffered fatal head injuries from a bullet fired by the suspect, described as a male between 17 and 20 years old wearing a black hoodie, light gray shorts, and sandals. The victim had gotten off the bus after being struck but succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

Eyewitnesses report that the suspect appeared on the scene while other passengers were boarding or exiting the bus. Witnesses initially thought there may have been two suspects, but officials now confirm there is only one person of interest in the ongoing investigation.

The bus driver swiftly halted the vehicle and evacuated all remaining passengers, including the injured man who received treatment for his non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are actively searching for the suspect, who is believed to be wearing the black hoodie, light gray shorts, and sandals. Authorities urge anyone with information about this incident or any sightings of the suspect to come forward.

As authorities continue their investigation into this senseless shooting, families of the victims and loved ones of the injured person can only wait anxiously for answers, while the community in west Houston grapples with the trauma inflicted by this violent act.

πŸ€• Just heard about that bus shooting in West Houston... so sad. One life lost, another person lucky to be alive. It's just not right when something like this happens on our daily commute. I mean, who expects to get caught up in a shooting at the metro? πŸš‚πŸ˜±

I'm trying not to think about it too much, but it's hard not to wonder what could've been done differently. Was the suspect known? Were there any security cameras that caught something? The investigation is ongoing, so we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out.

To be honest, it's days like this that make you question why some people feel the need to take lives like this. It's a real shame for the victim's family and loved ones... my thoughts are with them right now πŸ€•πŸ’”

OMG THIS IS SO SAD!!!! 😩😱 A METRO BUS SHOOTING IN HOUSTON WHERE DO THESE VIOLENT PEOPLE COME FROM!!!!!! 🀯😨 I feel so bad for the victim's family, it's just not fair that she had to go through such a traumatic experience. The fact that this happened on a bus with innocent people who were just trying to get to their destination is just heartbreaking. πŸš«πŸ’” The community in west Houston must be going through some tough times right now, my heart goes out to everyone affected by this senseless act of violence πŸŒŸπŸ’•

Man what's gonna happen to that neighborhood now? πŸ€• It's like they're living in a horror movie or something. I mean, one minute you're on your way home from work and the next you're dodging bullets on a bus 🚨. And poor girl who got hurt, I hope her family is okay. Those cops gotta catch that guy ASAP so others don't get hurt too. 😑

OMG, this is so sad πŸ€•πŸš« 1 person dead and another hurt, just because some psycho got on the bus wearing a black hoodie... can't believe it's happening again πŸ’”. The fact that it was near Walnut Bend and Richmond Ave makes me think like, what if I was just walking by or something? 😱

I'm literally shaking thinking about all the people who are scared now... west Houston is supposed to be a safe place πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. The police should get this guy ASAP, I don't know how much more of this we can take 😩. I feel for the victim's family and the person who got hurt, they're going through so much right now πŸ’•. We need some real change, like better mental health services or something... πŸ€”

πŸ€• Man, it's just another day where you're waiting for buses to get on or off without worrying about being shot 😱. I mean, what's going on in this world?! West Houston is supposed to be a safe place 🌴. And that poor woman... it's like her life was cut short by some random dude wearing sandals πŸ’€. I'm not making excuses for the guy who did this, but come on! If you're gonna do something like that, at least have the decency to wear some decent footwear πŸ‘ .

And what's with the police investigation? It's been hours and they still don't know if there were two or one dude involved πŸ€”. I'm sure it'll all get sorted out eventually, but in the meantime, the people affected are just stuck in limbo 😞.

This whole thing just makes me want to go on a bus somewhere and not look out the window for a while πŸšŒπŸ‘€. Maybe when they catch this guy, he can teach him about personal space and footwear... just saying πŸ‘Š

OMG, this is so heartbreaking πŸ€•... one life lost on a bus, can't even imagine how scared those passengers must've been 🚨. It's like, what was going through that person's mind to just shoot someone? 😩 I feel so bad for the family of the girl who got shot, she didn't deserve this πŸ’”. And poor guy who got injured too, hope he recovers soon 🀞. It's a tragedy, and we need to keep our community safe and support each other during these tough times ❀️.

Ugh πŸ€• my heart is literally breaking over this one... how do these things even happen?! a bus ride supposed to be a safe way to get around, and then BAM! someone decides to unleash all that hatred & violence 🀬... I'm literally shaking just thinking about it 😱. One thing for sure, though - the community in west Houston is coming together to support each other, which is what we need more of, you know? ❀️. And to the families of the victims, I can only imagine how scared & traumatized they must be right now... sending all my thoughts and prayers their way πŸ™πŸ’•

I just heard about this tragic thing that happened on a bus in Houston and I'm still trying to process it... πŸ˜” This is just so senseless. A young woman gets on the bus to get home from work or whatever and then someone just shoots her? That's not right at all. The fact that she was wearing casual clothes and people didn't even recognize her until later because of the hoodie is pretty wild too. I don't know what else to say, it just feels really unfair. πŸ€•

🚨😱 just saw that news about the shooting on the metro bus in west Houston... it's so tragic πŸ€•. one thing that's been bugging me is how can you just walk up to someone and start shooting without anyone stopping you? i mean, isn't there some kind of law against that? πŸ˜’ like, what's going on with our society that we've got to live like this? πŸ’” anyway, hope the police catch the guy ASAP and bring some closure to these families 🀞

Ugh, just got out of a Zoom meeting about this one πŸ™„... another senseless shooting in our city 🀯. I mean, what's next? Are we gonna start carrying around bulletproof vests on public transport or something? πŸ˜‚ No joke though, this is so scary for the community. The fact that it happened on a METRO bus, of all places, just makes you wanna feel like you're trapped anywhere 🚫. I do hope they catch this guy ASAP and bring some closure to the families... but I'm also thinking about how this just seems like another example of our society's obsession with guns πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ.

Man that's so sad πŸ€•... I'm still trying to process what happened on that bus. It's like something straight out of a movie, you know? Like, what's the point of someone pulling out a gun in the middle of rush hour? 🚫 And those clothes he was wearing, black hoodie and sandals? That's not exactly the most intimidating outfit πŸ˜‚... I mean, come on, if you're gonna do something violent, at least put some effort into it. Anyway, my thoughts are with the victims and their families right now. Hopefully they catch this guy soon and bring some closure to everyone involved πŸ’”

Ugh, another one πŸ€•... I just don't get why these things have to happen. I mean, a young woman just trying to get off the bus and she ends up getting shot πŸ˜”. And what's with the sandals? Like, wasn't it hot outside? Did he really think that was a good idea? And now this whole community is left to deal with the trauma of it all... πŸ€• It's just so senseless.

And can we talk about the suspect for a second? 17-20 years old and already thinking it's cool to commit violent crimes? What's wrong with these kids, man? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I know they're probably scared or whatever, but that's no excuse. They need to be held accountable for their actions.

I wish the police could catch this guy and bring him to justice ASAP. But until then, it's just a bunch of anxiety and uncertainty hanging over the community πŸ’”. And what about the victim's family? They're going through this traumatic experience... πŸ€• Just so sad all around.
