A woman in her 40s was found stabbed multiple times to death at an apartment building in Upper Manhattan early Monday morning. Police arrived at the scene, located on West 129th Street near St. Nicholas Terrace, around 4:30 a.m. and discovered the victim, who has not yet been identified by authorities.
According to eyewitnesses, emergency responders rushed her to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The police have taken a 47-year-old man into custody in connection with the crime, although no charges have been officially filed at this time.
One resident who lives in the building described the gruesome scene: "It was a lot of blood... Trails of blood, a big puddle... It's all over the place." The victim, believed to be in her 40s, is thought to have collapsed from her injuries before being discovered by residents.
The incident marks one other murder so far this year in the 26th Precinct area, which encompasses West Harlem and Morningside Heights. Meanwhile, citywide homicide rates are down 20% compared to the same period last year, according to NYPD data.

she deserves to be remembered not just a statistic 
my heart goes out to her family and loved ones. i cant even imagine living in an apartment building where such a thing happens it's like something out of a horror movie. anyway, lets just take a sec to pay our respects to the victim 
can we all just send some positive vibes out for the community and the city 
and btw 20% down in homicide rates is kinda lit 
maybe this means its gonna be a safer year? 
so sad, another life lost in a violent way... it's crazy how quickly blood can spread and make a scene like that, i guess it's just not safe to be around anymore 
anyway, 20% less citywide homicides is a good sign, but still way too many people getting hurt or killed 
hope the police catch this guy and bring some justice to the victim's family 
this is just so sad. I mean, imagine waking up and someone is lying in your hallway covered in blood... it's just terrifying. 
20% less homicide rate sounds like good news, but at what cost? 
But at the same time, one murder in an entire precinct just feels like too much, you know?
