Teenage Girl Foils Attempted Kidnapping by Biting Attacker, Police Say
A 13-year-old Galveston student narrowly escaped a life-threatening situation on Monday morning when she was approached and grabbed by an unknown man while walking to school. The incident occurred just before 7am near the 900 block of 28th Street.
According to authorities, the teacher at Central Middle School reported that a student was being approached from behind when they were suddenly grabbed by the attacker. A struggle ensued, but in a remarkable display of courage and resilience, the young girl managed to bite the perpetrator twice, break free, and make her way to school without sustaining any injuries.
Police are now searching for the suspect, described as a White or Hispanic male wearing a black short-sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and what appeared to be a ski mask. Authorities have reviewed security footage from a nearby business that shows the girl walking alone before the attacker appears on the scene.
The 13-year-old victim has been shaken but unharmed in the ordeal. Her parents accompanied police back to her apartment to retrace her steps and identify where the incident took place.
Galveston Police Department is urging anyone with information about the suspect's identity or whereabouts to come forward. They can be reached at 409-765-3777, and tips can also be submitted anonymously through Galveston County Crime Stoppers at 409-763-8477 or online at www.galveston.crimestoppersweb.com.
The incident highlights the importance of vigilance and quick thinking in avoiding potential threats. Authorities are urging parents to ensure their children are aware of their surroundings and teach them how to respond in similar situations.

... I mean, what if nobody else around her had reacted like that? Would we see this kid grow up to do great things or would we lose her too soon? It's a harsh reality but we gotta think about it - how can we expect kids to be aware of their surroundings when most adults aren't even payin' attention themselves
