Teenage Boy Vanishes in Queens, Family Scrambles for Clues as NYPD Seeks Public's Help
Fifteen-year-old Jafet Jemmott of Queens went missing at the end of last month, leaving his family and authorities baffled. According to police, Jemmott was last seen departing his home on Burchell Avenue in Arverne around 6 a.m. on November 28. A heated argument with his father over wanting money for shopping had reportedly escalated into the argument.
As he made plans to meet friends at the Kings Plaza Mall in Brooklyn that morning, Jemmott's phone signal mysteriously lost strength while crossing the Cross Bay Bridge. His family claims they later heard from acquaintances that Jemmott never showed up at the mall, fueling their suspicions about who his final destination might be.
Jemmott's parents describe him as an otherwise responsible and normal teenager, excelling in school with excellent grades across most subjects, and enjoying video games as a hobby. This unusual disappearance has shaken even those close to him.
"Assuming he went to meet someone at that time is the only plausible explanation," said Federico Jemmott, his father. "If he's not being held by someone who won't allow him to communicate, then he should reach out to us โ we miss him and love him."
The NYPD has confirmed Jemmott's description: 5'6" with brown eyes and black hair, wearing a black sweater and pants, along with white sneakers.
Police urge anyone with information about Jemmott's whereabouts to contact the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or submit their tips online. As this is an ongoing investigation, officials are asking for continued support from the community in hopes of bringing Jemmott home safely.
