2 women injured in explosion at Midtown parking garage, officials say

"Sudden Explosion Rocks Midtown Parking Garage, Leaves Two Women Hospitalized"

A shocking explosion rocked a Midtown parking garage late Thursday night, sending two women to the hospital in critical condition. According to authorities, emergency responders were called to the scene just after 9 p.m. on East 53rd Street between Lexington and Third avenues.

Eyewitnesses report that police and firefighters arrived quickly to assess the situation, with officials initially suspecting a generator malfunction as the cause of the blast. However, further investigation is ongoing to determine the exact origin of the explosion.

The two women, aged 25, were rushed to Weill Cornell Medical Center, where one was in critical condition while the other received treatment for minor injuries. Fire officials confirmed that first responders brought the scene under control by 9:30 p.m., with no signs of foul play at this time.

"It's a miracle more people weren't hurt," said an FDNY spokesperson. As investigators continue to look into the cause of the explosion, authorities are urging caution and vigilance in the area until further notice.

OMG u gotta hear about dis! So some parking garage just got blown up in Midtown last nite & 2 women r badly hurt ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ’ฅ they were rushed to the hospital & one of them is in critical condition ๐Ÿ˜จ the police & firefighters are still tryin to figure out what caused it but so far it don't seem like it was no accident... the cops just said there's no signs of foul play tho ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ anyway, they brought the area under control pretty quick so we don't know how bad it coulda been ๐Ÿ™

omg whats wrong with those parking garages lol!! ๐Ÿคฏ how many times have i seen vids of cars falling off 10th floor lol didnt think it could happen again tho ๐Ÿ˜ฑ hope those two ladies are okay btw what kinda generator is big enough to blow up a whole garage tho ๐Ÿค” shouldve been checked by the city already ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Blimey, that's really scary ๐Ÿคฏ... I mean, can you imagine being in a place like that and suddenly hearing this huge boom? It's just so lucky that they got to hospital on time, innit? ๐Ÿ’Š One of those lasses is still critical tho, that's not cool at all ๐Ÿ˜ท. Hope she pulls through soon! ๐Ÿคž

This is just crazy! ๐Ÿคฏ I was watching TV last night and saw the news about that parking garage explosion. I'm just glad no one else got hurt, but two women being hospitalized? That's scary. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ You'd think it'd be safer in a place like that, especially at night.

I do hope they figure out what happened soon, though. A generator malfunction sounds pretty unlikely to me... ๐Ÿค” Maybe there was something more serious going on? Anyway, I just want everyone who got hurt to get better ASAP and for the area to be safe again as soon as possible. ๐Ÿ™

I don't even know how crazy lucky those 2 women were ๐Ÿคž, I mean, a parking garage explosion is like, whoa ๐Ÿ˜ฑ! Can you imagine walking outta a place after a long day just to be like BAM ๐Ÿ’ฅ? No thanks, not for me. On the bright side, those first responders were super quick on their feet ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ and got everyone under control in no time โฑ๏ธ. Still super weird that it's gonna take some time to figure out what happened though ๐Ÿค”. Maybe there's a lesson to be learned from this... maybe we should just appreciate the little things, like having a roof over our heads ๐Ÿ˜Š?

I'm literally shaking my head right now ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. Like, what's going on with these parking garages?! Can't they even keep them safe? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ I mean, two women hospitalized because of some explosion... it's just not right. And to think the cops and firefighters showed up quickly, it's a good thing more people weren't hurt, for sure ๐Ÿ˜Š. But what about all those innocent bystanders who could've been in harm's way? It's so frustrating. I hope they figure out what happened soon, but seriously, can we just make our public spaces safer?! ๐Ÿคž

omg u guys can u imagine walking out of the parking garage & boom ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’ฅ 2 women hospitalized critical condition?!?! i mean we gotta be careful out there esp at night 53rd St btw Lexington & Third avs seems like a hot zone rn anyway what's up with the generator malfunction tho? didn't they check those things before? also FDNY spokesperson said "miracle more people weren't hurt" but that doesn't make me feel any better ๐Ÿค• gotta keep an eye on this one

What's going on in NYC lately?! First it's the subway delays, now this! Two women hospitalized from a blast in a parking garage ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ I feel bad for them, hope they recover soon. You'd think with all the progress we've made in safety tech, something like this shouldn't happen. Guess you just can't be too careful when it comes to electrical stuff ๐Ÿ˜’ Anyway, glad no one else was hurt... fingers crossed that's the last of it till next week ๐Ÿคž

just got out of the city tonight and saw the news on my phone... 2 girls just like me are lucky to be alive ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜ท parking garages are supposed to be safe spaces... can't believe it happened here, so close to home ๐Ÿ˜ฌ hope they're gonna be okay soon ๐Ÿ’•

Ugh that's so scary! ๐Ÿคฏ Two women seriously injured in a parking garage explosion... it's just not fair. I hope they recover quickly ๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸŒˆ and get back to their normal lives soon. You know, it's moments like these that make me grateful for the bravery of our first responders โ€“ they're truly heroes ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’ฅ Can't imagine what it must be like to be in those shoes on a night like this ๐Ÿ˜จ. Anyway, hoping everything gets sorted out and the area is safe again soon ๐Ÿ‘

Aww man... just had to see that news ๐Ÿค•. This is so sad! Hopefully those two ladies will be okay ๐Ÿ™. Can't even imagine what it's like to go through something like this ๐Ÿ’”. I'm a bit worried about all the other people who might have been in the parking garage too ๐Ÿ‘ฅ. Fire department did a great job getting there fast, though ๐Ÿ’จ. But I gotta ask, how do you investigate an explosion without knowing if it was a generator or something else? ๐Ÿคฏ Maybe they'll find out soon and we can all relax ๐Ÿ˜Š. Anyway, my thoughts are with those two ladies and their families โค๏ธ.

I mean, can you believe this is happening on our watch? Like, we're sitting here on a forum complaining about the internet, and there's a parking garage just a few blocks away from us having an actual explosion. It's crazy. And what really gets me is that they had to bring in emergency responders to deal with it - I mean, it's not like someone stumbled into the wrong thread ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. And now we're getting updates on it over here, and it just feels like our lives are being paused while everyone else is dealing with real-life drama ๐Ÿ’€. It's a bit much for me to handle right now...

I mean, can you even imagine what was going through those two women's minds when suddenly their world gets blown up like that? ๐Ÿคฏ I'm so glad first responders were there super fast to save them from worst-case scenarios. It's crazy that they're saying it might've been a generator malfunction at first, but then the investigation shows they need to look deeper.

I think what really scares me is that the explosion could've happened for totally random reasons and we just don't know yet. Like, was it an accident or was there something more sinister going on? It's definitely weird how authorities are keeping everyone on their toes with extra caution around that area right now.

Anyway, I'm so relieved both women made it out alive! The fact they got to Weill Cornell Medical Center quickly really did save lives. ๐Ÿ™ Hopefully the investigation brings us some answers about what happened, but for now let's just be glad no more people got hurt. Fingers crossed everything gets sorted out soon and we can all breathe a sigh of relief

๐Ÿคฏ like can u believe this is happenin in midtown rn? some 1 literally sets off a bomb in a parking garage lol what's goin on with this city anymore?? ๐Ÿšจ anyway i feel super bad for those two gals who got hurt, hospitals r always so busy and stressful. idk if it was just a generator or not but seriously whoever did this is some kinda menace ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ we gotta get to the bottom of this ASAP so ppl can stop bein all nervous and stuff.

Ugh, parking garage explosions? Like, what's next? ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’ฅ This whole thing is super suspicious to me. A generator malfunction as the cause? Yeah right! I don't think so. We should be investigating more about potential security threats or sabotage. What if it was intentional? It would've been nice to see some cameras in that garage already... Anyway, glad no one else got hurt, but still, this is kinda weird ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ‘€

๐Ÿšจ I don't think it's right that they're saying there was no sign of foul play yet... I mean, come on, two women get hurt pretty badly and you're like "no signs of foul play"? That doesn't sound suspicious at all ๐Ÿค”. And what about the eyewitnesses who said police and firefighters arrived quickly? Did anyone check for potential security cameras in the area to see if there's any footage that could help figure out what happened? ๐Ÿ“น Also, I'm not buying the whole "generator malfunction" thing... how likely is it that all those people were standing around just waiting for a generator to blow up on you? ๐Ÿ˜’

Just heard about this crazy explosion in Midtown parking garage ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. Two women, aged 25, hospitalized in critical condition. No signs of foul play yet but investigators need more info to determine cause. Generator malfunction was their initial guess but we'll have to wait and see what they find out. Fire officials were quick on scene and did a great job keeping everyone safe until the situation was under control ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’ช. Glad no one else was hurt, it's just a miracle those two made it out alive ๐Ÿ˜…. Can't imagine being in that spot at night... hope the police get to the bottom of this soon ๐Ÿ’ผ

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’ฅ What's going on with our city? One minute you're parking your ride, next minute it's like a scene from "Independence Day" - BOOM! Two women lucky to be alive ๐Ÿ™. I'm not buying the generator story tho... something fishy is going down. The FDNY is doing their thing, but we need more info, ASAP. This explosion has me feeling like I'm stuck in a Marvel movie, where one wrong move can take it all away ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. Can't say much, just that safety first, y'all! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’ช
