Philly's Winter Wonderland: What to Do This Weekend

Subzero wind chills are predicted for this weekend, but that hasn't dampened the city's spirits. If you're willing to brave the cold, there's a packed schedule of events to enjoy.

First up is the Mummers String Band Spectacular, back from its cancelled New Year's Day show. On Saturday, Jan. 31, all 14 bands will perform their unique "mini musicals" at Lincoln Financial Field, complete with costumes and choreography. Tickets range from $12.15 to $24.30.

On Main Street in Manayunk, the Founders Philly Freeze-Out is taking over, featuring ice sculptures, a winter market, food trucks, and beer specials. The event also includes a neighborhood-wide chowder crawl, where you can sample local fare from noon to 4 p.m. Advance tickets start at $18.

Automobile enthusiasts will love the Philadelphia Auto Show, now on display at the Pennsylvania Convention Center through Feb. 8. Get behind-the-wheel of electric vehicles, tackle the Camp Jeep obstacle course, and check out custom builds in Custom Alley. Tickets start at $20 for adults.

For a cultural fix, head to the Penn Museum's CultureFest! Lunar New Year celebration on Saturday, Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Expect live dance performances, storytelling, Tai Chi demonstrations, art activities, and a Lion Dance finale. Admission is included with museum ticket prices.

Last but not least, if you're looking for a sober night out, Dry Vibes at Billy Penn Studios is the place to be from noon to 5 p.m. on Jan. 31. Enjoy speakers, zero-proof drinks, a wellness marketplace, and live entertainment. Tickets are available through Eventbrite.

Whatever your interest, there's something for everyone in Philly this weekend โ€“ as long as you're willing to bundle up!

I mean, who doesn't love a good excuse to wear all those crazy costumes and dance around in the snow โ„๏ธ? It's like Philly is one big, weird party and I am HERE. FOR. IT ๐Ÿ˜‚. And can we talk about how cool it is that they have ice sculptures and a winter market on Main Street in Manayunk? It's like they're bringing a little slice of Winter Wonderland right to the city ๐ŸŒŸ. Plus, who wouldn't want to try all those different chowders and beers while staying warm indoors? Sounds like the perfect excuse to get out and enjoy the city (with some hot chocolate in hand, obvi) โ˜•๏ธ.
