Adam Ottavino got honest about his chances of becoming the Rockies' GM

Rockies GM Bid May Be Short-Lived for Adam Ottavino

In a surprise move, veteran pitcher Adam Ottavino downplayed his chances of becoming the head of the Colorado Rockies' baseball operations department. Just one day after being reported to have discussed the job with the team, Ottavino expressed skepticism about the opportunity, stating that "The Rockies thing is fun but probably not going anywhere."

While Ottavino played for the Rockies from 2012-18 and has a deep understanding of the franchise's dynamics, he has no prior experience in the front office. His lack of expertise has raised eyebrows among baseball observers, who may view him as an unconventional choice.

However, Ottavino's background could actually work to his advantage. Having played for the Rockies at Coors Field, where altitude poses unique challenges for pitchers, Ottavino has a deep understanding of the team's struggles and strengths. Additionally, he has experience playing for other teams in the league, including the Yankees and Mets.

Despite his potential appeal, Ottavino's candidacy may be derailed by his lack of front office experience. The Rockies' leadership is seeking outside voices to shape the future of the franchise, rather than relying solely on internal candidates. As a result, Ottavino's bid for the GM job may be short-lived.

While Ottavino's comments about the Rockies' GM position were candid, they also hinted at a deeper uncertainty about his chances. Will he still pursue the opportunity, or will he explore other options? Only time will tell if Ottavino can overcome his lack of experience and convince the Rockies to give him a shot at leading their baseball operations department.

I'm not sure why they would choose someone with no front office expereince 🤔 Interesting! Adam Ottavino is an amazing pitcher, I mean we've seen him dominate on the mound 💪 But GM? That's a whole different story... I think it's cool that he's gonna give it a shot tho, but yeah, his lack of experience might be a bit of a problem 😬

I'm not sure what's going on with Adam Ottavino's bid for GM 🤔💭... one day he's all in, next day he's kinda out 😅. I get it, he doesn't have that front office experience, but you never know what could happen when you shake things up #ShakeItUpInTheRockies. Coors Field is no joke, he knows the struggles they've faced and that could be a major selling point #AltitudeAdjustment. But at the same time, don't Rocky fans deserve some internal growth before bringing in an outsider? 🤷‍♂️ The team's leaders want fresh perspectives, but how will Ottavino prove himself without experience? 🤔 Only time will tell if he can take the Rockies to new heights or will his bid get axed 💥 #RockiesGM #FrontOfficeDilemma

I'm kinda curious about Ottavino's thought process on this - was it really just a casual conversation or did he have some doubts from the start? 🤔 I mean, playing for the Rockies is awesome, but GM job? That's a big step up! 😅 Plus, I think his experience at Coors Field would actually be an asset, not a liability. He knows the team's struggles and strengths inside out. But, yeah, lack of front office experience might catch up to him eventually. 🤷‍♂️

lol what's up with this guy Ottavino trying out for GM like? He doesn't even have a clue about managing a team, but hey maybe his baseball sense will translate to front office work 🤔 idk man, it sounds like the Rockies are just winging it here. They need someone with actual experience not some veteran pitcher who thinks he can just waltz in and make decisions for them 🙄 i mean Ottavino's got some knowledge of the team's struggles at Coors Field, but that's about it... doesn't necessarily make him a GM material 😐

🤔 Ottavino's lack of front office exp is prob gonna hurt his chances tho... I mean, it's not like he has any actual background in management 📊. But hey, having played for the Rockies before could be a plus? He knows Coors Field like the back of his hand 😅. Still, gotta wonder if the Rockies' org is lookin at this from a strategic POV... Do they really think someone w/ no exp can turn it around? 💸

🤔 I gotta say, Adam Ottavino's comments about not being a shoo-in for the Rockies GM job were pretty candid. It's like he's trying to gauge interest from the team while keeping his options open 📝 He's got some unique experience playing at Coors Field, which could be an asset in terms of understanding the team's strengths and weaknesses ⚾️ But, let's be real, lack of front office experience might be a major hurdle for him. The Rockies are looking for fresh perspectives, not just someone with a passion for the franchise 💡 Will Ottavino decide to take a chance or keep exploring other opportunities? Only time will tell 🕰️
