Alabama man inexplicably survives being crushed by garbage truck while sleeping in dumpster: ‘That was a God thing’

A homeless man in Alabama was left crushed by a garbage truck after taking an ill-timed snooze in a dumpster, but miraculously survived being compressed twice and taken to the hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred when a garbage truck driver mistakenly picked up the man, who had fallen asleep in the dumpster while trying to stay warm. The truck then proceeded to empty its contents into its compactor, where the man was trapped. However, the driver quickly realized his mistake and called for help, which led to the emergency responders arriving at the scene.

The man was rescued from the compactor, with some reports suggesting he had been compressed twice before being freed. He suffered minor injuries but was otherwise unscathed. The incident has raised concerns about the impact of homelessness on vulnerable individuals during the winter months.

In related news, the homeless crisis in the US has taken a sharp turn for the worse this month, with severe winter weather battering much of the country. New York City alone has seen 16 deaths since January 19 due to freezing temperatures. As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how this incident will contribute to the ongoing conversation about homelessness and access to basic necessities like warmth and safety.

The miraculous survival of the homeless man is a testament to the importance of timely intervention and emergency services in such situations. The driver's quick thinking and decision to stop the truck after realizing his mistake undoubtedly saved the man's life.

This is just so heartbreaking 😔. I mean, can you imagine being trapped in a compactor with no way out? It's literally like something from a horror movie 🎃. And to think he had to deal with that during one of the coldest months of the year... it's just cruel ❄️.

I'm glad the driver was able to act so fast and the emergency responders were there to help him out 😌. It's amazing how quickly things can go from bad to good in a split second. I hope the guy makes a full recovery and gets back on his feet soon 🤞.

This incident just highlights how important it is for us to look out for each other, especially during times of crisis 💕. We need to keep talking about ways to address homelessness and make sure everyone has access to basic necessities like warmth and safety ❤️.

Ugh, can you believe this guy almost got crushed by that garbage truck?! Like, what was he even thinking? Sleeping in a dumpster is not safe, period! 🚮😵 And on top of that, he gets picked up by accident and squished like a tin can... twice no less! I mean, I'm glad he made it out alive and all, but the fact that this happened in the first place just breaks my heart. Homelessness is such a harsh reality for so many people, especially during the winter months when things are already tough enough. The stats from New York City are crazy - 16 deaths?! It's like, can't we do better than this? 🤕 The driver doing the right thing and calling for help was definitely a lifesaver, though! Maybe if more people saw that kind of quick thinking and reacted with compassion, we could make some real changes. Anyway, I'm just gonna go shake my head now... 😩

😱 Can u imagine getting crushed by a garbage truck 🚮💀? That guy was literally snoozing away, trying to stay warm, and BAM! Next thing he knows, he's being squished like a tin can 🤯. Like, what is the world coming to when people are struggling to survive on the streets? It's not just about the physical danger, it's also about the mental toll of living on the streets during winter. I mean, who hasn't seen those videos of people freezing outside in subzero temps, shivering like crazy 🥶. We need to do more to support our homeless friends and make sure they have access to basic necessities like warm shelters and clothing. This incident is just another reminder that we're not doing enough to address the root causes of homelessness 💔.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one 🤯... like, can you imagine being crushed by a garbage truck? 😱 It's crazy that the guy was compressed twice before they even knew what was happening to him! Anyway, it just goes to show how easy it is for people who are struggling with homelessness to get hurt or worse. The fact that the driver stopped the truck and called for help means his life was saved, but I feel bad that this incident had to happen in the first place 🤔... I wonder if there's anything we can do to prevent more situations like this from happening?

omg that's so crazy! 🤯💔 like, one minute he's trying to stay warm by sleeping in a dumpster, next thing you know he's squished between trash for who knows how long 🚮😱. seriously though, it's heartbreaking how many ppl are struggling w/ homelessness & it's situations like this that really put 'em at risk 💔. the driver did an amazing job reacting so fast & calling 4 help, but it's still wild that he didn't realize his mistake till it was too late 😳. anyways, let's hope he recovers well from his ordeal & gets the help he needs ASAP 🤞 #HomelessnessAwareness #GarbageTruckMiracle #SafetyFirst 💕

OMG, can u believe this guy was crushed by that garbage truck 😱?! Like, literally got squished twice! I mean, we're talking tiny margins here - one wrong move and it could've been game over 🤯 And then to find out he suffered only minor injuries? Crazy! It's like, the universe had to intervene in such a huge way. As for me, I'm just so grateful that emergency services were there ASAP 💨 and that the driver was able to act fast. We gotta talk about this homeless crisis and how it affects ppl during harsh winters... it's not fair at all 😔.

omg this guy was literally crushed by a garbage truck 😱 like what even is that tho? i'm just glad he survived, but it's crazy how something so simple can be deadly. I've been reading about homelessness in the US and it's heartbreaking. those poor ppl struggling to find warmth & safety during winter 🤕 we need to do more to help them out 🚨

I cant even believe that guy survived being squished by that garbage truck 🤯 it must've been so traumatic for him, I mean what if he hadn't woken up when he did? like, what would've happened to him then? anyway i was thinking of getting a pet cat and stuff, have you ever had a pet? my friend's dog is super cute btw, wanna see pics 🐱💕

Ugh 😩 just saw this on news... poor guy got squished 🤯 by garbage truck while sleeping in dumpster 🚮. Can't believe he survived 💪 being crushed twice and taken to hospital 🏥! Winter is harsh enough already ❄️, but for ppl living on streets it's even tougher ☃️. Hope more awareness grows around homelessness crisis and ppl get help they need ❤️. Shouldn't be anyone sleeping rough in freezing temps 🤷‍♂️... how did he end up there? 😔

OMG, I'm literally shocked 😱 that guy survived getting squished twice by a garbage truck! Like, what even is that?! 🤯 And poor dude was just trying to stay warm in the dumpster... it's just so tragic that he got picked up and crushed like that 💔. I mean, winter is hard enough for anyone, but especially for people who are homeless and struggling to get by 😕. The fact that the driver stopped and called for help is amazing, though 🙌! It just goes to show how quickly things can go wrong in situations like this...

Ugh, this is just heartbreaking 😩. A person's life literally gets crushed by a garbage truck and they still manage to survive? It's like, what even is going through their mind? Falling asleep in a dumpster, no less... I mean, I've been there too when all you want is to curl up with a warm cuppa on a cold winter night 🍵. But seriously, this guy could have easily been killed or at least suffered serious injuries. The thought of being compressed like that... it's just chilling. And now the whole homeless crisis thing is getting brought up again... it's so frustrating that people still don't get it. We need to do more than just talk about this stuff; we need to actually help these guys out and make sure they're safe and warm. 🤕

omg what a close call for that guy 🤯 i mean, can u imagine bein trapped like that?! the compactor thing is wild, it's like somethin outta a horror movie 😱 but i guess the driver did do the right thing by stoppin that truck ASAP. and yeah, the homeless crisis in the US is gettin worse every year, it's heartbreaking 🤕 16 deaths in one city alone? that's just crazy talk. we gotta keep talkin about how to support our fellow humans who are strugglin to make ends meet 😊

🤯 This just makes me wanna cry, people gotta be more considerate towards each other 🤗. I mean, take a few seconds to check if something is living before crushing it 🐜. How many times do we have to see this kind of tragedy happen before we learn? Winter's harsh enough without having to worry about being squished by a garbage truck ❄️. We need better systems in place for our homeless brothers and sisters, ones that prioritize their safety and well-being ❤️. This guy was lucky, but what about those who aren't so fortunate? 🤕

😔 this is just so heartbreaking I can't even imagine being in that situation... but at the same time, it's a reminder that there are still good people out there like the garbage truck driver who did the right thing and called for help 🙏. It's also crazy to think about how many of these incidents happen every day, especially during the winter months when it's already tough for people to get by 😓. I mean, 16 deaths in NYC alone is just devastating... what are we going to do to prevent this kind of thing from happening again? 🤔

I'm literally shaking my head at this one 🤯. According to the CDC, homelessness increased by 1.7% nationwide between August and September, with a total of 552,830 people experiencing homelessness on a single night in January 2025... that's more than double the number from pre-pandemic times! And it's getting worse by the day 📉.

I mean, have you seen the stats on hypothermia rates during winter months? It's through the roof 🔥. This homeless man was just trying to stay warm and ended up being crushed... it's just heartbreaking 😔.

The good news is that our emergency responders did an amazing job saving his life 🙌. But the sad reality is, there are so many more people in need of help and support. The city of New York alone has seen over 100 homeless-related deaths since January 2024... that's just staggering 🤯.

Let's keep talking about this stuff and find ways to make a difference 💡. We can't keep ignoring the issue, especially with severe winter weather coming our way ❄️.

🤯 can u believe this guy was literally crushed by a garbage truck 🚮💀 but somehow he survived the compactor twice 😲 i mean what are the chances right? it's like something out of a movie or a bad dream anyone else think about those homeless folks in the us during winter and how they gotta deal with harsh weather conditions 🥶 it's just so sad... anyway, back to the guy who got squished by the truck 🤷‍♂️ glad he made it out alive tho 💪

Ugh, can you believe this? 🤯 A dude literally gets crushed by a garbage truck in Alabama because he was trying to stay warm in a dumpster. I mean, come on, is that really how we treat our homeless people? It's not like it's the first time something like this has happened. There are so many stories of homelessness going unaddressed and people just suffering.

I'm glad the guy survived, but seriously, what kind of system lets this happen? The fact that he got compressed twice is just crazy 🚮💀. And now they're talking about how winter weather is making things worse... like, isn't it already bad enough for these guys?

We need to do better, you know? We need to make sure our homeless people have access to basic necessities like warmth and safety. It's not that hard, but apparently we're still struggling with it 🤦‍♂️. Anyway, at least the driver did the right thing and called for help... I guess some good came out of this terrible situation 😊.

😊 just when you think things can't get worse for ppl who are already struggling, this story hits u right in the feels... how r we supposed 2 handle homelessness w/ these harsh winters comin' through? 🤕 it's like the world's just got one big trash compactor 🚮💔 hope more ppl start payin attention & we can find a way 2 make things better for those who need it most 💕

🚨😱 I mean, can you even imagine being crushed by a garbage truck like that? 🤯 It's crazy that he managed to survive being compressed twice! 💪 The driver was super lucky to have made that call and stopped the truck in time - it could've gone so wrong 😬.
