Alex the Great's legacy continues with opening of Bunny Cafe SF in Fisherman's Wharf

In a heartwarming tribute to the legacy of Alex the Great, a beloved San Francisco Giants therapy bunny, his owners have opened the doors to Bunny Cafe SF in Fisherman's Wharf. The cafe serves as a rescue and adoption center for rabbits from shelters, a mission that Alex's owners, Josh and Kei, vowed to continue after their beloved pet's passing in July 2025 due to complications from cancer treatment.

As a reminder of their commitment, the couple adopted another bunny named Alexis, who has already started volunteering as a therapy animal at San Jose airport. However, just this month, they launched Bunny Cafe SF, where visitors can pay a fee to spend time with adoptable rabbits in their cozy lounge. A portion of the proceeds goes directly to local rescues.

Alexis's predecessor was Alex the Great himself, who was rescued from a meat farm before becoming a therapy bunny. His story is a testament to the transformative power of love and compassion towards animals. Josh and Kei have taken up his legacy by opening a space that not only celebrates his memory but also helps save rabbits in need.

Bunny Cafe SF held its soft opening on January 1, 2026, offering visitors an immersive experience with adoptable bunnies while promoting animal welfare and rescue efforts. The cafe is more than just a novelty; it's a testament to the enduring impact of Alex the Great's life and work.

I'm low-key impressed by this new Bunny Cafe SF in Fisherman's Wharf, you feel? It's actually really cool that Josh and Kei are using it as an outlet to keep Alex's memory alive while also helping out rabbits in need. I mean, it's not just a cafe, it's a rescue center too! The fact that they're making a profit from it is gonna go towards supporting local rescues, that's just fire 🔥. It's awesome that Alexis, the new therapy bunny, is already volunteering at airports and helping out with that mission too 🐰💕.

omg can you believe they opened a bunny cafe in memory of Alex the Great 🐰❤️! its so cool that Josh & Kei are carrying on his legacy by helping rescue rabbits in need 💕. I mean who wouldn't want to hang out with cute adoptable bunnies and support a good cause? 🤗 The soft opening was on jan 1 which is perfect because what better way to start the new year than surrounded by adorable furry friends? 😊 cant wait to check it out and see how they're doing!

Just saw this news about the Bunny Cafe SF in Fisherman's Wharf 🐰💕, and I gotta say its super cool that Josh and Kei are carrying on Alex's legacy like this! Opening up a rescue center for rabbits & adoption cafe all at once is just amazing. Its so great they got Alexis involved as a therapy bunny too, she sounds adorable 😊. Gives me hope for more ppl to adopt bunnies instead of buying them from pet stores. Plus the fact that a portion of the proceeds goes straight to local rescues? Major win 🙌

man this Bunny Cafe SF thing is so cool like remember when Josh & Kei first got Alex from that meat farm, who would've thought they'd open up a cafe to help other bunnies in need? it's amazing how much love & compassion those two have for animals, just like my grandma used to do with her old cat mr whiskers, bless his soul anyway alexis the new bunny is adorable but i'm still thinking about alex the great 🐰💕

I'm not sure if I'd pay to cuddle with some random bunny at a cafe 🤔. Don't get me wrong, I love bunnies and think this is a great idea for raising awareness about animal rescue, but I just don't see the point of paying for it 😕. Can't we just support these causes through donations or volunteering instead? And isn't the fact that Josh and Kei are continuing Alex's legacy enough to inspire us to care about their mission? I guess what I'm saying is, let's not monetize animal love 🤑
