The whole thing just feels really dodgy to me... I mean, you've got these fancy tech companies throwing around AI generated dubs like they're some kind of magic solution to dubbing problems. Newsflash: it's not that simple! Voice acting is a huge part of what makes anime shows tick and AI just can't replicate that kinda chemistry between actors and their characters.And let's be real, Amazon should've expected this backlash from the start. I mean, people are basically getting paid to voice those characters and if you're gonna take away their livelihood with some clunky AI algorithm... it's gonna ruffle a few feathers!
The thing that really gets me is when people say "oh well, let them just 'improve' the AI or something". Like, nope. It's not that easy. You can't just tweak an AI algorithm and expect it to magically understand the nuances of human performance. That's what makes this whole debacle so frustrating.
I guess Amazon needs to take a step back and think about how they're gonna integrate these tech advancements in a way that actually benefits their users, rather than just trying to show off some flashy new feature.
