An update on the Eagles' projected compensatory picks for the losses of Milton Williams, Josh Sweat, and Mekhi Becton

Eagles' Compensatory Picks Update: Williams, Sweat, and Becton's Fates Hanging in the Balance

The Philadelphia Eagles lost four players in free agency this season – Milton Williams, Josh Sweat, Mekhi Becton, and Isaiah Rodgers. While Azeez Ojulari joined the team as a compensatory free agent, which essentially cancels out one of the Eagles' expected picks, the others remain uncertain.

Initially, the projected compensatory picks were as follows: a third-round pick for Williams ($26 million APY), a fourth-round pick for Sweat ($19.1 million APY), and a fifth-round pick for Becton ($10 million APY). However, each player's playing time will significantly impact their potential draft position.

Milton Williams' injury-plagued season has him playing 61 percent of the Patriots' defensive snaps through 11 games. While he won't qualify for a third-round compensatory pick if he misses too many more games, his current pace puts him on track to stay in the third-round tier. However, with his latest injury sending him to injured reserve, his chances of reaching that threshold are uncertain.

Josh Sweat has already played 360 defensive snaps this season, which is more than enough to secure a fourth-round compensatory pick. His playing time percentage stands at 7 percent below the required mark, solidifying his spot in the fourth round.

Mekhi Becton's situation, on the other hand, is precarious. He needs to play around 53 percent of the Chargers' offensive snaps to qualify for a fifth-round compensatory pick. Through 11 games, he has played 419 snaps, but his playing time percentage still lags behind the required mark. As Becton struggles with injuries and benching, there's a growing chance that his expected fifth-round pick could slide down to a sixth-round selection.

The Eagles' compensatory picks will ultimately depend on each player's performance over the remaining six games of their respective seasons.

I'm so confused about these compensatory picks 🤔🏈, they're like, what even is going on? So Milton Williams has played like 61% of snaps and he'll probably stay in the third round but if he gets hurt again, who knows? 😬 And Josh Sweat is doing fine, 360 snaps already and he's gonna get a fourth-round pick no question. But Mekhi Becton, ugh, injuries are everywhere for him 💔, and now he might not even get his fifth-round pick if he doesn't play more snaps soon... it's like, what's the point of even having compensatory picks? 🤷‍♂️ Are they really that unpredictable?

I'm low-key worried about Milton Williams, you know? He was gonna be our third round pick but now his injuries are throwing everything off 🤕. I mean, we all knew he had some issues in the past, but 61% of snaps is still a decent amount to work with, right? It's just too bad that he's been hurt again and might not make it to the end of the season. Sweat's fourth round pick is looking pretty safe though 🙌, he's already clocked so many snaps this year.

But Mekhi Becton is like the ultimate wild card 🔮. I love how intense his playing time percentage is – 53% is a big ask! It makes me think that if he can stay healthy for the next six games, he might actually end up higher than a sixth round pick 🤔. Of course, we'll have to wait and see what happens over the rest of the season...

omg have you seen those new pizza places popping up in Fishtown? 🍕 i mean i know philly is all about cheesesteaks but pizza is where it's at rn. i went to that new spot on north street and oh man the crust was to die for 👀 anyway back to the eagles i feel like they need to make a move with sweat he's been playing like 10 snaps per game lol what's up with that? 🤷‍♂️

I'm kinda excited that Josh Sweat is all but locked in for that fourth-round pick 🤞, 360 snaps already? That's some serious playing time. But, I gotta say, Mekhi Becton's situation is super sketchy. He's got a lot of talent, no doubt, but injuries and benching are keeping him from getting on the field consistently. It's like, if he can just stay healthy and get those snaps, he could easily end up in that fifth-round range 🤦‍♂️. And what about Milton Williams? His injury-plagued season has me kinda skeptical – will he even make it to 30 games? Still, I'll keep an eye on him.

I'm telling ya, the Eagles are gonna get robbed if they don't grab Mekhi Becton in that 5th round 🤦‍♂️. I mean, 53% is a pretty low bar to clear, and he's already playing more snaps than most guys who make it to the 4th round. Plus, with all these injuries, his value just went up, so I'd say he's a lock for that pick 🤑. Williams and Sweat are a bit of a mystery, but I'm not sold on either of them being in the 3rd or 4th round. Give me Becton's playing time and a decent game log any day 😎.

So I'm thinking about this Eagles team right now... 🤔 They lost some big players in free agency, but it's not all bad news. Some guys like Josh Sweat are gonna get them some good picks back. But then there's Milton Williams and Mekhi Becton who are kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place. Their injuries have messed up their chances of getting those third and fifth-round picks they were supposed to get. It's like, they need to just stay healthy and show the coaches they can contribute to the team. If they do that, maybe they'll still get some good picks back in return. But if they keep missing games, it could be tough for them... 🤞

🤔 i think its kinda weird that teams can just say who got picked by the comp picks and not really know how many they'll get till game 12 🏈 i mean whats a compensatory pick even supposed to be? is it like an insurance policy or somethin for when guys leave in free agency and you wanna give 'em another shot
