Another round of frost tonight, more arctic air arrives for the weekend

Bitter Chill Returns: Houston Braces for Another Freeze Night

A harsh blast of arctic air is set to sweep through the region, bringing with it a fresh round of frost and freezing temperatures. While Wednesday and Thursday may offer some respite from the cold, Friday's arrival will usher in another prolonged period of wintry weather.

Residents can expect overnight temperatures to plummet, leading to widespread light freezes that will leave vehicles, rooftops, and grassy surfaces iced over. However, with sunshine providing a welcome boost, daytime temperatures are expected to moderate into the mid-50s. Thursday's forecast is similarly bleak, but the warming trend continues, with highs reaching the mid-to-upper 60s - a welcome respite from the arctic chill.

But before this brief interlude, another frigid front is set to make landfall on Friday, bringing lows into the low 20s once more. While it's too early to confirm whether this weekend's weather will be harsh enough to reach hard freeze territory (temperatures of 24°F or below), residents are bracing for the worst.

Fortunately, dry air is expected to dominate Thursday night, with no precipitation forecast behind the cold front. This means that Houston can expect a prolonged period of clear skies and bitter cold, with temperatures expected to linger in the 40s through the weekend.

So when will it start to warm up? According to weather experts, temperatures are likely to return to more seasonal norms by next Wednesday, with lows in the 40s and highs back into the 60s. While that may be a welcome relief, it's too soon to say whether we'll be seeing any rain - even "warm" rain, which would bring much-needed moisture to parched gardens.

For now, Houston residents are advised to bundle up and prepare for another round of arctic air, with forecasters urging caution in the face of this latest cold snap.

ugh I'm so over these freeze nights already 😒 it's like we're stuck in some kind of never ending winter loop. can't they just give us a break from the cold for one day? I mean I get it, nature's all unpredictable and whatnot, but seriously, how many times can we experience this same thing before we start losing our minds 🤯 at least the sunshine will make things slightly more bearable on Thursday tho 🌞

omg is this gonna be like that again? 🤕 last year was so harsh and i'm still recovering from frostbite on my nose lol. can someone pls explain why it always seems to come back after we think it's getting warmer? isn't it like, winter or something? anyway, at least the sunshine will help, right? 60s in the day sounds pretty nice tho

Ugh I'm so over these freeze warnings 🤯! Like can't we just get a decent spring already?! 😩 Anyway, I swear the formatting on that article is all wrong... like what's up with the font sizes and margins? It's like they didn't even consider how it would look on a screen. A decent layout would make such a big difference in readability... 📄👎 And don't even get me started on the whole " dry air expected to dominate" thing... can't they just use bold text or something?! 😅

Ugh I hate these cold snaps 🥶! You'd think they'd give us a break after all the heat we had last year. Can't even enjoy a cup of coffee on my porch without it freezing to death ☕️. I swear, my pipes are gonna freeze again this weekend... been there, done that. On the bright side, it's a good excuse to break out the winter clothes and cozy up with some hot cocoa 🍫💦.

Ugh, I'm so over these freeze nights already 🤣! Like, can't we just have a break from being bundled up like it's winter or something? 🧥😩 I know it's not fair to complain when others might need the extra layer for real reasons (hello, elderly and pets!), but seriously, can't our temps just chill (pun intended) already? ❄️ The thought of having to shovel snow for the third time this month is giving me hives 🚮. And don't even get me started on trying to find decent coffee while bundled up like a yeti ☕️. I'm ready for some sunshine and warmth, stat! 🌞 Can we please just get past this cold snap already?

Ugh I'm so over these crazy freeze nights 🤣💨! Like, can't we just have a break from the bitter chill for one second? 😩 I mean, I know it's all part of winter and whatnot, but Houston is not exactly prepared for this kind of thing... like, seriously, are our pipes gonna burst or something? 💧😬 And don't even get me started on having to shovel my driveway... again 🤯! On the bright side, at least we'll be getting some sunshine to break up the gloom, so that's a silver lining, right? ☀️💛 I'm just over here counting down the days until it starts to warm up and we can all just chill out (pun intended) 😎🌞. #HoustonWeather #FreezeNight #WinterBlues

Ugh, I hate these crazy cold snaps! 🥶 They're so unpredictable and harsh on everything. One minute it's like 60 degrees outside, and the next it's freezing your buns off. And don't even get me started on the roads and vehicles - ice is no joke! ❄️

I'm just worried about all the people who have to deal with this stuff every year. My grandparents live in Houston, and I can imagine how scary it must be for them. They're always like "oh well, we'll just bundle up" but I know they're secretly freaking out on the inside.

Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is, let's hope this cold snap passes soon! A warm week or two would really hit the spot after all this freezing. Until then, Houston, stay warm and cozy! ❤️

Ugh 🤕, I'm literally freezing just reading about this! Can't believe we're stuck with a forum that can't even keep us updated on current events without making us scroll through 5 pages of irrelevant posts first 😩. And what's up with the formatting? It looks like they just copied and pasted from some ancient news article 📄. When are we going to get a refresh, or better yet, a redesign that actually makes sense? 👀
