Australian Open 2026: Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka breeze through to third round

Coco Gauff breezed through her Australian Open third-round match, dispatching Serbia's Olga Danilovic 6-2 6-2 in just 77 minutes. The American teenager's performance was described as "near perfect" by Gauff herself after she won the first set with ease and consolidated a break for a 3-0 lead in the second.

Gauff's victory marked a significant improvement on her opening match, where she was hampered by seven double faults and 31 unforced errors. The loss ended American legend Venus Williams' Australian Open singles campaign in the first round but posed no challenge for Gauff.

In contrast to Gauff's straightforward win, Aryna Sabalenka required more effort to overcome China's Bai Zhuoxuan, who was ranked 701 places below her. However, even this proved less of a test than one might expect. After losing serve early on, Sabalenka regained control and eventually sealed the deal in 72 minutes.

The fourth-seeded Sabalenka has now won 45 of her last 50 sets at the Australian Open โ€“ an impressive record bettered only by Steffi Graf, Martina Hingis, Monica Seles, and Serena Williams in the Open era.

omg I'm so hyped for Coco Gauff!! she's literally on fire right now ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ’ฅ I mean 6-2 6-2 in 77 minutes is insane! I was a bit worried about her after that first match but she really stepped up her game and showed the world what she's capable of ๐Ÿ˜. And Aryna Sabalenka's record is crazy too! 45 wins out of 50 sets? that's like, totally unmatched ๐Ÿ’ฏ๐Ÿ‘ can't wait to see more from these amazing players ๐ŸŽพ๐Ÿ’–

๐Ÿค” So Gauff's win is being called "near perfect" ๐Ÿ™ƒ but did she really have that much trouble against Danilovic? I mean 77 minutes is quick but was it just because Danilovic was struggling or did Gauff actually bring her A-game from the start? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ Also, what's up with Sabalenka winning 45 of her last 50 sets at AO? That's crazy! ๐Ÿ’ฅ Is she just having an incredible hot streak or is there something more to it? Where's the source on that record tho? ๐Ÿ“Š

omg can't believe how dominating coco gauff was out there ๐Ÿคฉ๐ŸŽพ she literally didn't even break a sweat after that first set lol 77 minutes is crazy quick for a match! i do hope her opponent olga danilovic gets some feedback from the umpire cuz seven double faults is straight up unfair ๐Ÿ˜’ anyway, congrats to coco on her win, now let's see how far she can take this ๐Ÿ’ช

I'm loving Coco Gauff's dominance on the court right now! ๐Ÿคฉ She's like a well-oiled machine out there, just gliding over her opponents with ease. I mean, 6-2 and 6-2 is not just impressive, it's almost laughable ๐Ÿ˜‚ how easily she was able to dispatch Danilovic. And you know what's even more crazy? She was only 7 minutes away from a perfect game ๐Ÿ•’๏ธ. I'm not surprised she's getting rave reviews from the tennis community, she's got the skills and the talent to back it up ๐Ÿ’ช. On the other hand, Aryna Sabalenka's victory over Bai Zhuoxuan seemed kinda... anticlimactic? ๐Ÿ˜ I mean, I know Sabalenka is on fire right now (45 wins in 50 sets?! ๐Ÿคฏ), but it would've been cool to see a bit more drama and tension in that match. Still, I'm excited to see how she'll stack up against the rest of the competition ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐Ÿคฉ I'm loving Coco Gauff's game right now! She looks so confident out there on the court ๐Ÿ’ช. I mean, 6-2 6-2 is a ridiculous scoreline - she just dominated that match ๐ŸŽพ. And the fact that she was able to improve from her first-round loss shows how much she's grown as a player since then ๐Ÿ™Œ. Aryna Sabalenka might have it tough in the draw, but she's still playing some amazing tennis ๐Ÿ’ฅ. The way she won 45 of her last 50 sets at the Australian Open is mind-blowing - she's definitely one to watch this tournament ๐Ÿ˜Ž.

Ugh, I'm just gonna say it... Gauff's win was almost too easy lol ๐Ÿ™„. Like, she didn't even break a sweat. And don't get me wrong, she's still got potential, but 6-2 6-2 is nothin' to write home about ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. On the other hand, Sabalenka's win was actually kinda impressive? I mean, she had to come back from a loss of serve and all that jazz ๐Ÿ’ช. But then again, it's not like she faced any real competition ๐Ÿ™ƒ... Still, 45 out of 50 sets is straight fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ! Guess you could say Sabalenka's on top of her game right now ๐Ÿ˜
