Australian teen swam hours to shore to get help for mother and siblings swept out to sea - WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports | Fort Lauderdale

omg 🤯 what an incredible story! i mean, 13 is super young to be swimming for hours in rough seas with no life jacket... that's like, insane 💪 but at the same time, so inspiring? austin's determination and bravery are truly commendable 😊 his mom is being super cool too, trying not to show her emotions 🙏 i think this story shows us that even in the toughest situations, we all have it within us to tap into our inner strength and get through it 💫

omg did you know that i just got the craziest idea for a new snack food? like imagine a cross between a chip and a popcorn kernel... 🍿😂 i was thinking we could make it a 'dunkable' thing where you can just dunk it in your favorite sauce and devour. what do u think?! 🤔

🤯 Can we talk about this story for a second? I mean, what's the government gonna do about all these young Aussies out there who are basically being forced to grow up too fast because of natural disasters and climate change? 🌪️ Like, Austin Appelbee was literally 13 years old when he's gotta make life-or-death decisions on his own. That's some serious pressure, you know?

And don't even get me started on the infrastructure in Western Australia. Are we really expecting these families to be out there kayaking and paddleboarding without proper safety nets? 🤔 It's like, we need to invest more in coastal protection and emergency services, not just rely on individual heroes like Austin to bail us out.

I'm all for a good underdog story, but let's not forget that this kid was basically swimming against the odds (no pun intended) to save his family. What about our government's role in preventing these kinds of situations from happening in the first place? 🤔

🙏 That's just wow! I mean, 4 km in rough seas is crazy enough, but to do that without a life jacket and still think about saving your family? 🤯 Austin Appelbee is literally a hero, you guys! His mom is so proud of him, and rightfully so - he's just an amazing young dude who stayed calm under pressure. I've got a huge amount of respect for people like Austin who put themselves in harm's way to help others. And the fact that he swam for over 2 hours without resting? That's superhuman! 🌊❤️
