Australia’s social media ban is “problematic,” but platforms will comply anyway

🤔 I think this new regulation is an interesting attempt to curb underage access on social media, but it's also kinda worrying how some experts are warning about its limitations... Like, what if the face scan tech isn't accurate enough? That could lead to a lot of false positives and actual minors getting banned. 📦 And yeah, I can see how this might push kids into darker corners of the internet, that's definitely not the vibe we want.

It's also kinda weird that YouTube is so opposed to it, considering they've been all about being 'safe' online lately... Maybe they just have concerns about the logistics or something? Either way, I think it's good that these companies are getting a bit nervous and wanting to make sure they're doing things right. 🤓 But ultimately, this feels like one of those laws where everyone has a valid concern!

I'm kinda worried about this new rule 🤔... I mean, what's the point of removing all those underage accounts if there's still gonna be ways for them to sneak back in? Like, face scans are already flawed as it is... can't these platforms just come up with something better? 💡 Meanwhile, some kids might end up in even darker corners online, which is super scary 😱. And what about all the times when people just lie about their age on social media anyway? 🤷‍♀️ It's gonna be a mess trying to keep track of it all...

I don't think this is gonna work 🤔. They're trying to keep kids safe on social media but they're basically just pushing them into the dark corners of the internet, where it's harder to control what happens. I mean, think about it - if you can't access certain content online, isn't that just gonna make them wanna look for it in other places? 🤷‍♀️ It's like trying to keep kids from drinking by making the liquor stores invisible... they'll just find another way, ya know? 😂 And what about all the legit 15-year-olds who are already mature enough to handle social media on their own? This law is just gonna stifle them too. 🤦‍♀️

I'm so concerned about this new regulation 🤔📊. It's not that hard to imagine millions of kids trying to find workarounds to bypass these age checks, and I honestly think it's going to create more problems than it solves 🚫💻. The thing is, technology moves way faster than any law can keep up with. By the time they update their systems, those sneaky young minds will have already found a way around it 😒.

And let's be real, even if these companies do implement better age checks, how are we going to know that it's actually working? 🤷‍♀️ We're just talking about a generation of kids who are tech-savvy and clever. They'll find ways to adapt, and the system will always be one step behind them 💻.

I think what's really scary here is that we're treating this as if it's some kind of simple problem with a simple solution 🤦‍♀️. But online safety is so much more complex than that. We need to be having real conversations about how we're raising our kids, not just slapping regulations on tech companies and expecting them to fix everything 💬.

🤔 I'm not sure about this new regulation... think it's better to be safe than sorry though. 🙏 still worried about those younger ones getting access to bad stuff online. maybe they should just use parental controls on their devices instead? 👀
