Azure is in recovery following an outage that affected Microsoft 365, Xbox and Minecraft

Microsoft's Azure cloud service is slowly coming back online after a widespread outage that affected some of its most popular services. At the peak of the issue, users reported difficulties accessing certain apps, including Microsoft 365, Xbox, and Minecraft. The outages were so severe that they even caused problems on airline websites.

According to the Azure status page, Microsoft first noticed technical issues at 12PM ET, prompting them to initiate a recovery process. In their latest update, the company claims to have successfully deployed "our last known good configuration" and reported initial signs of recovery for customers.

However, the recovery efforts are expected to take some time, with Microsoft predicting that Azure will be fully recovered by 6:20PM ET. The outage also had a ripple effect on other services, including Game Pass on Xbox consoles, which users reported could not be loaded at the height of the issue.

While the severity of this outage is still lower than last week's Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage, which kept popular apps offline for hours, it highlights the importance of cloud infrastructure reliability. Microsoft's response to the issue has been characterized as swift, with the company providing regular updates and reassurances about the recovery process.

As the situation continues to unfold, users are advised to check their Service Health Alerts for any further information or updates on the Azure outage.

I was thinking what if they tested it before releasing? I mean, millions of users got affected πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. They say its "last known good config" but how do we know that's really good? It takes forever to come back online and I'm still getting weird errors on my Xbox Game Pass πŸ˜’. And can't they just give a timeline instead of these vague ET times? I mean, who even uses those anymore πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

omg what a disaster 😱 just got back online after like an hour of being unable to access my favorite games and apps lol so frustrating! i feel bad for all those ppl whose work depends on azure tho πŸ€• hopefully it's back to normal soon... meanwhile, thinkin' about all the diy projects i can do while waitin' for azure to recover haha πŸ’»πŸ’‘

πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ just saw that azure was down and i'm still trying to figure out how my online gaming session ended up getting cut short lol what's with all these cloud service outages lately? it's like they're intentionally trying to drive us crazy 😩 anyway, kudos to microsoft for keeping us updated on the situation. but seriously, can't we just have a reliable internet connection for once? 🀯

Man I'm glad they're getting Azure back online πŸ™Œ. Last week's AWS outage was a major scare, you know? I mean who wants their Minecraft server down? πŸ˜‚ But seriously, this shows how important it is to have reliable cloud infrastructure. I remember when Google+ came out and everyone was all about it...now look at what happened to that πŸ’€. Anyway, Azure might be back online soon so fingers crossed for those Xbox users 🀞.

omg I cant even believe this is happening again 🀯 I mean I know it's not like anyone likes to talk about outages but come on msft can you guys just get it together?! 😩 Minecraft players are literally stuck in the dark ages right now and xbox gamers are gonna have a meltdown when game pass goes back online lol. I'm so glad they're providing updates tho, at least we know what's going on πŸ“Š 6:20PM ET cant come soon enough for me πŸ•°οΈ

um so i was trying to play minecraft last night but couldn't lol πŸ˜‚ anyway yeah this is kinda crazy that it affected airline websites too that's just insane what if you were flying somewhere and your app wouldn't load oh man 🀯 i'm glad they're working on it though i hate waiting for things to fix themselves or whatever like why can't they just hurry up πŸ’¨ so 6:20pm is a pretty long time to wait though 😴

Ugh, what a nightmare! Can't imagine having to deal with that much downtime... I mean, who needs Xbox when you can't even get online? Game Pass was so bugged too 🀯. Glad Microsoft is working hard to fix it though, at least they're keeping us updated about the progress πŸ’». Hope everyone's internet is back up and running smoothly by the evening πŸ™. Outages like this remind me to backup my files ASAP, don't wanna lose any important data πŸ“. Fingers crossed Azure will be back to normal soon! πŸ‘

I feel so frustrated when my kid is trying to do homework online or play Minecraft after school and they can't access it because of this outage 🀯😑. As a parent, I just want everything to work smoothly for them, you know? And airline websites were affected too?! That's just crazy talk! ✈️ My money could've been spent on buying them a new console instead of dealing with these technical issues πŸ˜‚. Microsoft seems like they're doing okay, though - at least they're keeping us updated and being transparent about the recovery process πŸ’». Fingers crossed that everything goes back to normal soon! 🀞

Dude I just got back from this crazy vacation in Hawaii and man my phone was down for like 2 days πŸŒ΄πŸ˜‚ I'm not even kidding it's so hard to relax when you're stuck in Wi-Fi purgatory... anyway, Microsoft outages are always a bummer, but at least they're being super transparent about what's going on. I mean, who needs Xbox when you've got sunshine and beaches, right? 🌊 Anyway, fingers crossed Azure comes back online soon, don't wanna be stuck in the dark ages πŸ˜‚

Ugh I'm literally having withdrawal from being able to play Minecraft online 🀯😩 I mean, what's even more infuriating is that airlines were affected too... like can't they just prioritize people's flights over a bunch of video games for once? πŸ’” On the other hand, kudos to Microsoft for getting back on their feet quickly... swift recovery is key, right? πŸ™Œ Now, let's hope it doesn't happen again anytime soon and I can get my gaming fix without any issues. πŸ˜…

I'm still getting a little anxious about this Azure outage 🀯... like, I get it, technical issues happen, but when it affects Xbox and Minecraft at the same time? That's a whole different level of chaos πŸ˜…. On the bright side, Microsoft's response has been pretty good – they're being transparent about what's going on and providing updates. But still, 6:20PM ET is a looong way off from full recovery πŸ•°οΈ... hopefully it's just a minor hiccup in an otherwise rock-solid cloud infrastructure πŸ’».

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this outage 🀯. I mean, how does a company like Microsoft not have a more robust backup system in place? Like, what's the point of having a "last known good configuration" if you're just going to rely on that alone during an outage? πŸ™„

And don't even get me started on the fact that it affected airline websites... I'm surprised no one got hurt or anything πŸ˜‚. But seriously, this is a wake-up call for all of us who rely on cloud services. We need to know more about these companies' disaster recovery plans and how they handle these types of situations.

I'm also kinda curious why there's still no official word on what caused the outage... like, was it a human error? A hardware failure? Something more complex? πŸ€” Sources, anyone?

πŸ€” This whole thing is quite a sobering reminder of how fragile our modern digital lives can be. I mean, think about it - we rely so heavily on these cloud services that when they go down, everything else comes to a grinding halt too. It's like that old saying goes: "Don't count your chickens before they hatch"... but instead, don't log onto Azure until it's back up, right? πŸ˜… Anyway, kudos to Microsoft for staying on top of things and providing those regular updates - hope the rest of the world can learn from their example.

omg what a disaster 😩 i was in the middle of building a new project on Microsoft 365 and it just stopped working out of the blue 🀯 i mean i know these things happen but still, can't believe it's affecting airline websites too? airlines? really? 🚫 how are they supposed to book flights when azure is down?

anyway, good on microsoft for being transparent about what's going on and providing updates like clockwork ⏰ their customer support should get a gold star for that πŸ‘ still not sure when things will be back online tho 6:20pm et seems like an eternity πŸ•°οΈ hoping it gets fixed ASAP so i can get my work done πŸ™Œ

Ugh, I was literally in the middle of a Minecraft marathon when this happened... 😩. Can't believe they brought down the whole Xbox and Game Pass thing too! It's like, how do you even have an outage that affects airline websites?! 🚫 Airlines are supposed to be so reliable! Anyway, I'm glad Microsoft is acknowledging the issue and working on it ASAP. Hopefully, things get back online soon and we can all get back to our gaming sessions... πŸ‘

😬 I'm not surprised that a major cloud service like Azure is prone to outages - it's just one of those things that comes with relying on massive amounts of interconnected tech πŸ€–. But, at the same time, it's concerning that Microsoft had to deal with so many services being affected, including some pretty popular ones like Minecraft and Xbox.

It's also interesting to see how this outage highlights the importance of cloud infrastructure reliability - if Azure was down for an hour, imagine what would happen to all those businesses that rely on it! πŸ’Ό And while Microsoft has been praised for their swift response, I think we can all agree that "last known good configuration" is not exactly a comforting phrase πŸ˜….

Overall, I'm just glad that the recovery efforts are underway and users will eventually get back online. The question now is how this whole thing plays out - did Azure have a major flaw that led to the outage? And what changes will Microsoft make to prevent something like this from happening again in the future? πŸ€”

man I'm so done with these cloud outages 🀯πŸ”₯ its like they're testing our patience or something idk how many times we have to hear "it's being restored" before it actually happens lol anyway i'm glad microsoft is at least providing updates and stuff but 6:20pm et? thats like a whole day of not having xbox or minecraft what if people have work or school commitments? can't they just give us a more realistic timeline? πŸ€”πŸ’»

Ugh, I'm so glad my kid's Minecraft server is back up πŸ™Œ! Can you even imagine if it was down all day? My little one would've been FREAKING OUT 😱. As a parent, you want your kids to be safe and have access to their favorite games and apps at all times. This outage just shows how important cloud infrastructure is for us as parents... I mean, users πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. We need our services to be reliable so we can keep up with our busy lives! Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly from now on πŸ‘
