. And let's be honest, it's gonna be tough to separate fact from fiction on screen.
I'm not saying it can't be done well, but we gotta remember that history is complex and messy

. We don't want some Hollywood version of these women that's just gonna perpetuate stereotypes or romanticize their experiences

. I hope the directors are doing their research and being thoughtful about how they're telling these stories.
Also, 86% of female prison population in New York? That's a whole lotta women who got caught up in some pretty desperate situations

. I'm not sure we're getting a nuanced portrayal of these women if we just focus on the crimes they committed. We need to explore what led them there and how society failed them.
