Bears begin offensive-coordinator search after Ravens hire Declan Doyle to same position

Bears Begin Search for New Offensive Coordinator After Hiring Ravens' Declan Doyle

Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson is on the hunt for a new offensive coordinator, just one year after crafting the offense and serving as play caller. The team has decided to let go of its current OC, Declan Doyle, who was hired by rival team the Baltimore Ravens. This development comes despite the fact that Johnson designed the offense and still calls plays.

Doyle, 29, is considered a rising star among NFL coaches and had interviewed with the Philadelphia Eagles during the offseason before withdrawing his candidacy. Despite this, Johnson's decision to let Doyle go suggests he may want to bring in someone new to lead the team's offense.

The Bears have several options for their next OC. Quarterbacks coach J.T. Barrett and passing-game coordinator Press Taylor are both strong contenders, given their experience working with Johnson over the past year. Barrett started his coaching career with the Detroit Lions in 2022, while Taylor has been an NFL assistant since 2013.

Another possibility is that the Bears will go outside the box, like they did last season when hiring Doyle. This could lead to a fresh perspective and new ideas for the team's offense.

omg can't believe the bears are letting go of declan doyle after just one year 🀯 what did he even do wrong? still a young coach with tons of potential... think ben johnson is trying to shake things up, maybe bring in someone new to keep qbs on their toes πŸ’‘ J.T. barrett and press taylor are solid choices tho πŸ‘Œ but idk if they're ready for the big time yet... going outside the box could be a good idea tho πŸ€” might just give them that extra edge to take it to the next level πŸš€

I'm surprised the Bears are letting go of Declan Doyle already. I mean, he was only here for one year and had some promising results. He's still young too, 29, so I guess you'd expect him to want a change of scenery or something. But now they're looking to bring in someone new and give J.T. Barrett and Press Taylor a shot. That could be cool, but I'm also curious to see if the Bears will go outside the box and get some fresh blood from somewhere else. They did that last season with Doyle, so why not again? It's all about finding that next big thing, right? πŸ€”

I'm not sure why they're letting Declan Doyle go so soon... I mean, he was only here one year! πŸ€” He seemed pretty good on paper too - Baltimore Ravens just gave him a big promotion? That doesn't add up in my head at all πŸ˜’. Either way, it'll be interesting to see who Ben Johnson picks as his new OC. J.T. Barrett and Press Taylor are both solid choices, but maybe the Bears should take a risk and go with someone entirely different... you never know what they might come up with πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ!

idk what's going on with the bears offense πŸ€”, but i think this change might just be the spark we need πŸ”₯! ben johnson is really showing he trusts his guys by keeping jt barrett and press taylor in key positions πŸ™Œ. and who knows maybe bringing in someone new will give us that x-factor we've been missing all these years πŸ’‘? it's crazy how fast declan doyle was scooped up by the ravens, but i'm low-key excited to see what ben johnson does next 🀞.

idk why johnson wants to change his OC already πŸ€”. one year ago he had everything figured out and now he's looking for someone new? also, what happened to doyle? was he not doing his job well? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ i think it would be a good idea to stick with what works, you know? but at the same time, maybe johnson just wants a change of pace or something. i'm curious to see who they'll end up hiring next 😊

OMG 🀯 I'm so here for some serious OC drama! I mean, Declan Doyle was only with the Bears for one year, but it's clear Ben Johnson is ready to shake things up πŸ”„. The fact that he let Doyle go already shows he's thinking ahead and wants someone new to bring fresh ideas to the table πŸ’‘.

I'm low-key loving the possibilities πŸ€” - J.T. Barrett or Press Taylor could be solid choices, but I think we might see a surprise hire πŸŽ‰. Maybe Ben Johnson is going to take a risk and bring in some outside talent? It's been a minute since he shook things up with Doyle last season 😏. Whoever gets the job, I'm hyped to see what the Bears' offense looks like next season πŸ”₯πŸ‘€

I'm surprised they're letting Doyle go already! I mean, he was only here for one year, but it seems like Ben Johnson wants someone new to shake things up. I think this is a good move for the team, we need some fresh blood around here! The Bears have been struggling to score points at times, so maybe they'll get something more out of their offense with a new coach. J.T. Barrett and Press Taylor are both solid choices, but it's also possible that Johnson might surprise us again like he did last season when he brought in Doyle from the Ravens. Fingers crossed for the Bears! 🀞

I'm not sure about this one... I mean, Declan Doyle was only with the Bears for a year and already he's outta there? πŸ€” It feels like they're trying to shake things up too quickly. I get it, innovation is key in the NFL, but do we really need to go through all these changes? πŸ˜’

I do think J.T. Barrett and Press Taylor are solid options tho... they've both worked with Ben Johnson before and know what he's all about. But I'm not sure if bringing someone new is the way to go, 'specially since Doyle was only 29 and seemed like a pretty talented young coach πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

I'm hoping for some good ol' fashioned DIY magic this time around... you know, where they just tweak what's already working instead of throwing everything out the window 😊. But hey, that's just my two cents! πŸ‘
