Bears coach Ben Johnson says final interception vs. Rams is on him, not Caleb Williams or DJ Moore

Bears Coach Ben Johnson Blames Interception on Himself, Not Caleb Williams or DJ Moore.

Bears head coach Ben Johnson took responsibility for the team's overtime loss to the Rams, saying that he was at fault for quarterback Caleb Williams' interception. The interception, which occurred with just seconds left in the game, allowed the Rams to score and win the game. Johnson stated that if there was any miscommunication between him and Williams, it was his problem.

Williams did not make a statement about the play after the game or during Monday's locker room clean-out. However, he called the interception "a miscommunication" between himself and wide receiver DJ Moore.

Moore finished the game with career lows in catches (50) and yards (682), as well as just seven total touchdowns. Despite his struggles on offense, Johnson credited Moore with playing through injuries, saying that his toughness had a positive impact on the team.

Johnson's comments come after a season-ending news conference where he reflected on the Bears' disappointing year. He stated that the team made progress, but ultimately fell short of its goals.

πŸ€” so like ben johnson is tryin to take one for the team here? i get it, as coach, u gotta own up 2 mistakes πŸ™, but it's also weird cuz Caleb Williams is still sayin he was miscommin with DJ Moore πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. anyhoo, ben johnson's right tho, if there were probs w/ the play, it's on him to fix 'em πŸ“. and props 2 DJ Moore 4 grindin thru injuries tho πŸ’ͺ🏽 that's what u call heart πŸ”₯

I feel for Ben Johnson, dude πŸ€•. Taking responsibility for your team's loss is huge, especially when it's just seconds away from winning. I think what bothers me is that Williams didn't say a word about it πŸ€”. Like, isn't he the QB? Shouldn't he at least acknowledge what went down? Moore played tough despite his struggles, so credit him for that πŸ’ͺ. Johnson being the coach, I guess you'd expect some accountability from him, but still... it's just one play that cost them the game 😩. Maybe next season they'll bounce back stronger πŸ’₯.

The guy's got balls for taking the blame like that πŸ™Œ. I mean, it's not easy to own up to a mistake like that, especially when you're in the spotlight like Ben Johnson is. And let's be real, if he didn't say anything, we'd all be speculating about what went wrong on that play. Caleb Williams might've called out Moore for the miscommunication, but at least Coach Johnson is being honest and taking responsibility for his own mistake.

And yeah, I get it, DJ Moore had a rough game overall, but credit to him for grinding through injuries - that's not easy to do. The thing is, if you're gonna give someone credit like that, it should be followed up with some actual improvement on the field, right? Instead, we saw more of the same struggles from Moore.

It's good to see Coach Johnson being so level-headed about it all, though. He's not making excuses or shifting blame onto others. He's owning up to his own mistake and trying to learn from it - that's leadership right there!

I'm still trying to process what happened last night... I mean, it was like watching an old familiar movie, you know? The underdog team gets taken down by a rival, and they can't seem to catch a break. Ben Johnson blaming himself for the interception is kinda refreshing, though - reminds me of when Brett Favre used to take those blame shots back in the day . And poor Caleb Williams, he just looks so lost out there... it's like watching a young Michael Vick try to navigate a new system . DJ Moore's struggles are crazy, I feel bad for him, man. That guy's been through some stuff on the field and off. Anyway, gotta wonder what went wrong this year... was it the coaching changes or just one of those seasons where nothing seems to click? πŸ€”πŸ˜

OMG you guys I just saw this interview with Coach Ben Johnson and I gotta say he seems like a really chill dude πŸ™. Like he's taking full responsibility for that last minute interception and putting it on himself instead of Caleb Williams or DJ Moore, which is actually pretty cool to see.

I get why some ppl might wanna shift the blame but not this guy...he just owns up to it and says "hey I messed up, let me fix it". That's leadership right? And btw it sounds like he really appreciates Moore for putting in a tough game despite his struggles. Let's give props to Coach Johnson for being all about teamwork 🀝!

I'm so done with the coach taking full responsibility for everything 🀯. Like, Ben Johnson can't even give his QB some credit? Caleb Williams was the one making plays all season, and this one interception changes everything? It's not on him to read minds, you know? DJ Moore's having a rough game, but that doesn't mean he's the reason for the loss πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. And what about the rest of the team? They weren't even mentioned in Johnson's post-game speech... it's all about the QB and his coach πŸ‘Š. Can we get some actual accountability around here?! 😑

🀯 I'm shocked Ben Johnson didn't take a shot at Williams for that dumb interception! It's gotta be tough to call out your QB on a play like that, especially when it was basically the game-winner πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ I mean, I get where he's coming from about miscommunication and all that, but come on coach, you're also the one calling the plays and making the adjustments. Can't have your QB just magically know what you want him to do without some decent communication πŸ“ž And Moore? Yeah, Johnson gave him credit for toughness, but let's be real, it's not like he had a monster game 🀣

Ugh I'm still trying to process this game 🀯...I mean Ben Johnson is right though πŸ™. We can't blame Caleb Williams for one play, he's a rookie QB in his first year playing in the NFL, it's not easy πŸ’ͺ. And DJ Moore got hurt, like what could he do? πŸ€• It's all on Coach Johnson for making those calls and trusting his players to make plays when it matters most πŸ’―. I feel bad for Caleb Williams though, that must've been so frustrating πŸ€”. Anyway, gotta respect the coach taking responsibility, that's leadership right there πŸ‘.

πŸ€” OMG u guys I'm sooo shocked!! Ben Johnson taking responsibility for Caleb Williams' interception πŸ™Œ like seriously what else can u do? It's not like it's Caleb's fault (imo) and he didn't even say anything about it lol. And btw DJ Moore had a super bad game πŸ˜‚ but at least he played through his injuries so that's something? Coach Johnson is literally the best πŸ™ for being honest with himself and acknowledging the mistakes. I'm loving this leadership πŸ’–

Man, I'm thinking... about responsibility and accountability... in sports, it's not just about winning or losing, it's about how we own up to our mistakes... Coach Ben Johnson taking the fall for that interception is a pretty bold move... I mean, you can't always shift the blame onto your players, but at the same time, as a coach, you've got to be able to make those tough calls and decisions under pressure...

It's also interesting how Caleb Williams and DJ Moore reacted differently to the play... Williams just kinda brushed it off as a miscommunication, while Johnson took full ownership of it... Maybe that says something about their mental toughness and leadership qualities?

And I guess what really got me is how Coach Johnson framed the loss as an opportunity for growth... "We made progress, but fell short"... That's some pretty philosophical stuff right there... It makes you wonder if the real goal isn't to win all the time, but to learn from our failures and come back stronger next season. πŸ€”

man i feel bad for ben johnson, he cant catch a break right now πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. that interception was def a game changer and to take the blame like that shows he's got some serious leadership skills πŸ’―. i mean who else would do that? it's easy to point fingers at wiliams or moore but ben's taking the fall, even though it was basically a play call gone wrong πŸ€”. i think it's actually kind of inspiring to see him own up to his mistake like that πŸ™. the bears might not have won that game but they're still building towards next year, and with leaders like ben on the team, i'm hopeful they can turn things around πŸ’ͺ

I don't usually comment but... I'm surprised Ben Johnson took ownership of that interception like that πŸ€”. I mean, it's not like Caleb Williams just threw a random pick or anything. It sounds like there was definitely some miscommunication going on between him and DJ Moore πŸ˜’. I get what Coach Johnson is saying about taking responsibility, but you've gotta feel for Williams too... he's the one getting roasted by fans and critics alike after that play πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. And can we talk about how tough it is to put in a performance like that when you're hurt? DJ Moore was basically out there giving it his all despite his injuries πŸ’ͺ.
