Bears seventh-round rookie Kyle Monangai shines in first start

Kyle Monangai Shines in First Career Start, Bears' Seventh-Round Rookie Exceeds Expectations.

The Chicago Bears' 2025 NFL Draft pick Kyle Monangai put on an impressive display in his first career start against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, running for a team-record 176 yards and three receptions for 22 yards. His stellar performance came with the Bears facing the league's worst run defense.

Monangai, the seventh-round rookie selection out of Maryland, was thrust into the starting role after D'Andre Swift suffered an injury in practice last week. The young back showed that he's more than just a backup, as his team dominated the Bengals on the ground with 283 yards and 7.6 yards per carry.

"It's like who [Monangai] has been since he's been here," said Bears coach Ben Johnson. "Very reliable. He's going to do what you're coaching. He's hard to bring down."

Meanwhile, Browns was called up from the practice squad on Saturday and made a significant impact in his first NFL game with 37 yards on five carries. Monangai was initially set to return after being taped up during the first quarter but remained on the field for several plays.

Quarterback Caleb Williams added 53 yards on five carries, while DJ Moore scored a touchdown on a run that will be reviewed after it appeared he fumbled in the end zone.

🏈 This is what I call a rookie season to remember, folks! 🀩 But let's not get too carried away here. The Bears' decision to throw Kyle Monangai into the starting role after D'Andre Swift got hurt is a great example of the team's commitment to innovation and adaptability - qualities that are often associated with progressive thinking. On the other hand, it raises questions about how teams handle injuries in the modern era. Should they be more proactive in developing their backup plans? And what does this say about the state of our sports leagues when a seventh-round rookie can single-handedly dominate a game like Monangai did?

By the way, have you noticed how the Browns' coach is playing it safe by calling up Browns from the practice squad? It's almost as if they're trying to avoid taking risks and embracing the future. I think we need more coaches who are willing to take bold steps and challenge the status quo - just like Kyle Monangai did on Sunday! πŸ’ͺ

man, this monangai kid is ON FIRE πŸ”₯!!! i mean, 176 yards and 3 catches? insane for a 7th round pick! ben johnson's right tho, he's always been reliable, but to see him shine like that in his first start? crazy. i'm loving the way he just goes straight through defenders without hesitation πŸ˜‚. and the coaching staff must be doing something right because he was able to stay on the field even when he got taped up πŸ€•. the browns guy's move from practice squad to main roster is also super impressive 🀯, maybe we're gonna see some other sleeper picks like this in the league soon? πŸ€”

🏈 I was just saying, Kyle Monangai is gonna be a big deal this season! πŸ‘ He's been quietly impressing me since the preseason and now he's putting up numbers that are hard to ignore πŸ“Š 176 yards on the ground? That's insane for a rookie! 😲 And those catches aren't bad either... I'm starting to think the Bears might've pulled off a bit of a sleeper pick with him πŸ€”. Anyway, can't wait to see what he does next week against the Packers πŸ‘€

I'm still getting used to these new rookie players πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Reminds me of when Michael Vick came out of college and became an instant sensation back in 2001! 😊 Those days were special, I remember watching him light up the league with his speed and agility. Anyway, this Kyle Monangai kid is definitely looking like a star πŸ”₯, especially considering he's not even drafted in the first round πŸ€”. The Bears' defense was pretty weak against the Bengals, but Monangai handled them just fine πŸ’ͺ. I'm not saying he's on Vick's level yet, but I do think he's got some serious potential πŸ’―. What a game, though! 😍

I'm lovin' what I just saw from Kyle Monangai!!! 🀩 This dude was born to run and boy, did he ever! 176 yards on the ground is straight fire πŸ”₯, especially when you consider the Bengals' defense was supposed to be the toughest one to crack. The fact that he showed up big time in his first start and helped lead his team to a W is just pure motivation πŸ’ͺ. And what I love most about this story is Monangai's humble beginnings as a 7th-round rookie - it goes to show anyone can shine with hard work and determination πŸ’«. The Hope Dealer approves! 😊

The way Kyle Monangai took center stage and totally crushed it in his first start is really inspiring 🀩! I mean, who would've thought a 7th-round pick could become a game-changer? It just goes to show that with hard work and dedication, anyone can prove themselves. The fact that he outperformed expectations, especially against the Bengals' weak run defense, is super impressive πŸ’ͺ. And coach Ben Johnson's praise of Monangai's reliability and work ethic is spot on πŸ™Œ. It'll be exciting to see how this rookie continues to develop and grow with his team! πŸ‘

man this kyle monangai dude is like proof that if u stick to ur grind & never lose faith in urself, u can achieve greatness 🏈πŸ’ͺ. 7th round pick? forget about it! he just went out there & crushed it πŸ˜‚. coaches r right, he's been playing like a pro since day one, just did what we coached him to do. you can't teach that kinda heart & determination πŸ”₯. kudos to the dude for stepping up & proving everyone wrong πŸ’―. reminds me of when i was trying to get into freelance writing, ppl told me i wasn't good enough but i kept pushing & now i'm making a living out of it πŸ“πŸ’Ό. keep believing in urself no matter what 😎
