California man accused of killing mother of his 5 children, then taking body to Mexico

Local Man's Desperate Move: California Father Accused of Murdering Partner, Dumping Body in Mexico

A 44-year-old Long Beach man has found himself at the center of a shocking and disturbing crime case. Erik Alcantar is accused of killing his partner, Aracely Romero, 45, during an argument over the course of just one night. The gruesome details of the crime have left family members and authorities reeling.

Romero, who had five children with Alcantar ranging in age from 16 to 26, was reportedly a loving mother and pillar of her community. However, their relationship took a deadly turn on November 8th, when police say Alcantar got into an argument with Romero while she was driving him to work.

In the aftermath of the incident, Alcantar allegedly drove Romero's body to Mexico, where he turned himself over to authorities just four days later. Mexican officials found her body in the car, and the suspect has since been taken back into custody in Long Beach.

Heartbreaking tributes have poured out for Romero from family members and friends, who are struggling to come to terms with her tragic loss. "Chely was the light of our family," said one GoFundMe post. "She had the purest heart, always finding ways to make people smile, always putting others before herself."

As investigators continue to piece together the events leading up to Romero's death, Alcantar faces a slew of charges in California, including murder. He remains behind bars in Mexico, awaiting extradition back to the United States.

Police are urging anyone with information about the case to come forward. "We need the public's help to bring justice to Aracely and her children," said an LA County Sheriff's spokesperson. If you have any information, please call homicide detectives at 562-570-7244 or anonymously report it through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Romero's loss has left a community in shock, and a search for answers continues.

Ugh, man... this is just heartbreaking πŸ€•. I mean, I've seen some crazy stuff in my time critiquing movies and TV shows, but this? This is just sad all over the place πŸ˜”. The guy's got 5 kids to take care of on his own now, and they're all going to have to deal with the loss of their mom too... it's just a mess πŸ’”.

And the fact that he took her body all the way to Mexico and then turned himself in? That just shows how desperate and out of control he was. I mean, what kind of person does that? 🀯 It's like he thought he could just outrun his problems or something, but really, he was just making things worse.

I'm not saying Alcantar is some kind of saint or anything, but come on... can't we all just try to be a little more human here? I know the guy did some terrible things, but let's at least acknowledge that he's got some humanity left in him. We should be trying to help his kids and support them during this tough time, not just focus on punishing him for what he's done πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

πŸ˜” I'm still trying to wrap my head around this tragic story. A parent losing their child is one of the toughest things that can happen to anyone. Five kids, all with a loving mom who was basically a pillar of her community... it's just heartbreaking πŸ€•. I've been following this case and it's just so senseless. The fact that he allegedly drove his partner's body to Mexico just four days after the murder is just mind-boggling πŸš—πŸ’€. My heart goes out to Romero's family, especially her kids who must be going through an unimaginable grief right now πŸ’”. I hope justice is served and that they get some closure soon 🀞.

🚨😱 this is like something out of a movie, i'm seriously shook by the whole thing, five kids losing their mom like that? it's just devastating... and the fact that he went all the way to mexico to dump her body is just plain cruel πŸŒ΄πŸ’€ how do you even process something like that? and now he's facing murder charges and potentially a life sentence... justice will be served, i hope, for aracely and her kids πŸ’”πŸ•ŠοΈ

come on, people are making erik alcantar out to be some kinda monster already. he did what alot of ppl do after an arguement - he got angry & acted impulsively. 4 life, mexico isnt that far from cali... who needs a bunch of extradition drama? let him serve his time in mexico & enjoy the sunshine while he's at it 🌴

this is just so sad... you can't even imagine the pain this family is going thru πŸ€• erik alcantar's move to dump aracely's body in mexico is just insane... i mean, what kind of person does that? and now he's facing a whole bunch of charges in cali... it's like, what was he thinking? πŸ™„ and the fact that he had 5 kids with her makes it even more devastating... those poor kids are gonna have to deal with this trauma for years to come πŸ’” anyways, i hope justice is served soon and aracely can finally rest in peace 😌

πŸ€• I'm still trying to process this horrific story... a guy who was supposedly the rock of his family just turned out to be capable of such cruelty. The way he allegedly dumped her body in Mexico and then turned himself over to cops just four days later is just mind-blowing. It's like he thought he could just escape the consequences or something? 🚫 And the fact that Aracely was only 45 and had five kids with him just makes it even more heartbreaking. I'm so angry that no one saw any red flags in this guy... did his family know what he was capable of? Did anyone notice anything suspicious? The public's help is definitely needed in solving this case πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™€οΈ, but I also want to make sure we're not glossing over the fact that Aracely was a lovely person who deserved so much better. πŸ’”

Ugh, this is just so sad... Erik Alcantar was supposed to be the good guy who'd do anything for his kids & family. Now they're left with no partner, no mom, and no idea why he did it 🀯 I feel bad for them, but at the same time, you gotta wonder what was going on in that head of his... drove her body all the way to Mexico? That's just mental πŸ’€ His life is over now, & so are any hopes of a peaceful life back home... hope he gets what's comin' to him behind bars πŸ˜”

πŸ€• I'm literally so tired of these "desperate move" headlines. Like, can't we just have a thoughtful conversation about domestic violence instead of sensationalizing every single case? 🀯 This guy's actions are absolutely horrific, no question. But let's not forget that Aracely was just trying to live her life and provide for her kids – she didn't deserve to die in such a brutal way. 😒 And what's with the fact that Erik allegedly dumped her body in Mexico? Like, couldn't he have just turned himself in or something? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Anyway, I'm glad police are taking this seriously and investigating, but can we please not make a spectacle out of it? πŸ’”

just can't even believe what I'm reading about this poor woman... her husband of five kids just turned her into a murder victim and then has the nerve to dump her body in mexico 🀯 like, what's wrong with these people? i mean, i know relationships can get ugly but this is just sickening. i've got so much love for aracely and her family... they deserve justice πŸ’”. the fact that he turned himself over to authorities after just four days is just red flag after red flag... i'm all about second chances, but not when it comes to murder 🚫. i hope the police catch him soon and bring some closure to this tragedy πŸ’―.

😱 this is just heartbreaking i cant imagine how aracelys kids must be dealing with the loss of their mom she was clearly a wonderful person and to think she was taken from them in such a senseless way is just devastating πŸ€• 45 years young and now gone far too soon my heart goes out to her family and friends, and to erik alcantar's kids who will also be dealing with the loss of their dad in a very different way 🀝
