Can Trump legally stop federal funding to New York City if Mamdani wins?

so trump is trying to play hardball with ny city, threatening to cut off funding if mamdani wins... like, who does he think he is? 🤦‍♂️ this could have some major consequences for the city's budget, especially with 7.4 billion in federal funds needed next year... that's a big chunk of change. and what about cuomo? should we be worried that someone with a history of scandals like him might get funding if mamdani doesn't win? it feels like trump is trying to strong-arm the city into doing his bidding, but honestly, it's not that simple... 🤑
 
🤔 I'm not sure what's more concerning - Trump's threat to cut off federal funds or the fact that he thinks he can just do whatever he wants without Congress saying otherwise 🚫. Like, doesn't anyone fact-check his statements before they become "news"? And what's with Cuomo's history of scandals? Is it really fair to threaten him over funding when he has a checkered past himself? 🤷‍♂️ I need some credible sources on this one before I believe anything Trump says... 💸
 
I'm telling ya, this President Trump guy is something else 🤯... like what's his problem? He thinks he can just threaten to cut off funds to the city of New York because one of their mayoral candidates lost a primary? That's just basic politics 101 🙄. And now he's throwing around constitutional issues like it's going out of style... I mean, isn't that what Congress is for? 🤔

And let me tell you, if this happens and the city loses all that federal funding, we're gonna see some real problems on the streets of NYC 🔥. They rely on that money to do so many things, from maintaining parks to supporting homeless shelters... it's a huge deal.

I'm not saying Trump doesn't have his own issues, but come on, this is just another example of him trying to flex his muscles and show who's boss 💪. Newsflash, Mr. President: the Constitution ain't your plaything 📚.
 
🤔 this is so wild that trump thinks he can just threaten to cut off funds without even consulting congress first? i mean, isn't the impoundment control act like super clear on who gets to make decisions about federal funding? it's not like trump is a constitutional expert or anything 🙄 anyway, this would be a huge deal for nyc if trumps threat actually comes through. can you imagine how many people are going to get hurt because of his ego? $400m is a lot of money, and it's not just about the funds themselves, but also all the people who work in the city and rely on those funds 🤯
