CBS News poll finds more Americans say ICE being too tough; Republicans feel protesters have gone too far

According to a recent CBS News/YouGov poll, Americans are increasingly critical of the tactics employed by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), with more than half describing their operations as "too tough" when stopping and detaining people.

The same survey found that a significant majority of Republicans feel that protesters have gone too far, while Democrats say they've been peaceful.

A growing number of Americans believe the administration's deportation program is targeting more people than just dangerous criminals. The program has roughly divided the nation for months, with strong backing from Republicans and especially from MAGA supporters. However, overall support for it has dipped in recent weeks.

Most Americans think the U.S. does have strategic interests in Iran, but they are more divided on whether or not it has moral responsibilities there. The idea of using military force to take Greenland faces overwhelming opposition across party lines, including most MAGA Republicans, who say they would disapprove.

Meanwhile, a majority of Americans believe that the Trump administration's policies might bring about peace and stability in 2026, though many are pessimistic about what these policies might achieve.

I'm genuinely surprised by the divide on ICE tactics 🤔. I mean, who doesn't want to keep their country safe? But on the other hand, is detaining people without a clear charge or reason really the way forward? It feels like we're just trying to fill a quota instead of actually solving problems.

And can we talk about how weird it is that Republicans think protesters have gone too far when ICE is doing this stuff? 🤷‍♂️ I'm not saying everyone's being peaceful, but it seems like there's always someone at the other end of the spectrum. And what about those who get caught in the middle? They deserve some compassion, right?

As for Iran, yeah, we do have strategic interests there... but does that mean we should just jump into bed with whoever's most powerful and hope for the best? 😒 I don't think so. We need to be smart about our foreign policy, not just wing it.

Lastly, Trump's policies and all... can we really believe they're going to bring peace and stability in 2026? 🤔 It feels like a pipe dream. But hey, maybe they'll surprise us! 😊

I dont get why ppl r still backing that deportation program 🤔 it feels like its just targeting ppl for political points and not even necessarily about public safety, u feel? The fact that most americans think its targeting innocent people is crazy to me 😱. And omg what's up with the maga republicans tho, like how can they support violence towards others? 🤷‍♂️

ICE is literally ruining lives over here 🤯 I don't get why ppl gotta make such a big deal about stoppin' & detaining folks who maybe aren't even doin' anything wrong? They're just tryin' to do their job, but it's like they're bein' super aggressive about it. And yeah, the deportation program is straight up targetin' innocent people 🚫. I mean, who wants a bunch of deportations happenin'? It's all so stressful & unfair.

And can we talk about Iran for sec? 🤔 Most ppl think the US has strategic interests there, but like, what even are those? Are they just gonna use military force 4 no reason? No way, fam! It's not that simple. And Greenland? For real, why would anyone even consider that?! 😂 It's like, we got enough problems in our own country, let's focus on that 1st.

And Trump's policies? 🤷‍♂️ I don't know, dude... some ppl think they'll bring peace & stability, but others are all like "no way, José". And honestly, I can see why they'd be skeptical. Like, how can we just expect everything 2 magically work out? That's just not real life, fam 🤦‍♂️.

ICE tactics are getting too much heat 🤕. I mean, I get it, not everyone is happy with how they're treating detainees, but some people think they're being too harsh 😐. It's like, we need to find that balance between keeping the country safe and being humane, you know? 🤝

And don't even get me started on this whole deportation program 🚫. I'm not sure if it's really targeting just bad guys or if it's more of a... complicated issue 🤔. Either way, it's got everyone pretty divided.

But hey, being optimistic is what we do in America 💪. Even though some people are skeptical about the Trump admin's policies, they still think it might bring us peace and stability in 2026 🌟. Fingers crossed, right? ✨

ICE is like trying to catch cats with a fishing rod 🎣🕵️‍♀️. They just can't seem to land anyone. I'm not surprised most people think they're being too tough, but you'd think they'd at least try to be stealthy about it 😏. And oh, Republicans thinking protesters have gone too far? That's rich coming from the same crowd that still thinks tweeting "fake news" is a legitimate critique 🤦‍♂️.

And can we talk about how this entire deportation program thing is just a huge mess? I mean, who thought it was a good idea to divide the country like that over immigration policy? It's like they're trying to create a new national pastime: "Guess Which Group of People ICE Will Detain Next" 🤔. On Iran and Greenland though... yeah, I think most people are just tired of hearing about these issues from politicians who seem more interested in stirring up drama than actually solving problems 🙄.

As for that whole Trump administration thing... I'm all for hoping for peace and stability, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here. We're still living in 2025, folks!

The way ICE is handling these immigration issues is super sketchy 🤕. I get it, they're trying to keep our country safe, but detaining people for doing nothing wrong? It's just not right. The poll results show that a lot of Americans are against this approach and I'm with them on that.

It's also wild how divided we are as a nation on certain issues. Some folks think protesters have gone too far, while others think they're peaceful... what about us in the middle? We just want to express our opinions without getting hurt or arrested 😬.

The Trump policies might bring about peace and stability, but at what cost? I'm not sure if that's really a fair trade-off. And can we please focus on finding solutions instead of taking sides? We're all human beings here 👥

ICE is just trying to do its job, but I guess it's doing it in a way that's super frustrating for people. Like, what's expected of them? They can't just let everyone walk all over the US borders and expect everything to be okay. But at the same time, I don't think they should be coming after innocent people either... I mean, some people are really upset about it because they feel like ICE is targeting the wrong people. 🤔 And yeah, I can see why people would say protesters have gone too far or not gone far enough... but isn't that kinda subjective? Like, what's peaceful to one person might be super scary to another. 🙃

OMG u guys i cant even!! 🤯 like seriously people r gettin really frustrated w/ ICE tactics n its about time we start havin a diff convo about how we wanna deal w/ deportation & immigration... some ppl think it's just about catchin bad dudes but idk can't we also consider the human side of it? 🤗
