Celtic accelerate move to take Wilfried Nancy from Columbus Crew as new manager

Celtic have accelerated talks with French manager Wilfried Nancy over the weekend, with the Columbus Crew boss poised to replace Brendan Rodgers in Glasgow. According to sources, the Scottish giants have informed the Major League Soccer club on Friday that they are planning to make a move for Nancy, and the negotiations are expected to move forward swiftly.

The accelerated approach comes as Celtic hope to have Nancy in place by their next match against St Mirren next weekend, which would bring an end to Martin O'Neill's caretaker spell. O'Neill was set to meet with Celtic's main shareholder Dermot Desmond in London on Friday but the talks may now be irrelevant if Nancy is indeed appointed.

It's worth noting that Nancy was seen as a long shot for the job when first linked, but he ticks all the boxes for Celtic's preferred profile of an emerging coach who can progress within their system and accept transfer policies. His experience managing Montreal led to Columbus Crew finishing seventh in the MLS Eastern Conference this season before they bowed out of the playoffs.

Nancy is not the only name that has been mentioned as a potential candidate, however. Kieran McKenna was initially favored for the job but Celtic have so far failed to approach Ipswich about their manager, who has expressed little willingness to leave Portman Road due to his high compensation clause and expected wage. Robbie Keane and BodΓΈ/Glimt's Kjetil Knutsen were also linked with the job before Paul Tisdale, Celtic's head of football operations, identified Nancy as his top choice.

πŸ€” so what I'm thinking is that Celtic's next move is kinda a big deal for them 'cause they're basically getting rid of Rodgers and whoever else was managing during O'Neill's caretaker spell. And now Wilfried Nancy seems like the top candidate, which is interesting because he didn't even start out as a favorite πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. But at the same time, it makes sense that Celtic would want someone who can fit into their system and all that jazz. I mean, McKenna was definitely in the mix but Ipswich wasn't keen on letting him go so... yeah, you never know what's gonna happen in football 🏈

omg u guys I just read about this & I'm like literally so excited for celtic! 🀩 they need a new manager ASAP & Wilfried Nancy seems like the perfect fit πŸ’‘ he has some amazing experience managing teams in different leagues & it's clear that celtic are looking for someone who can bring them success πŸ† plus he's not too expensive or anything, which is def a bonus πŸ’Έ I'm also kinda sad for martin o'Neill tho πŸ€• he was doing such a great job with the caretaker spell & I feel like they're moving too fast πŸ’¨ but fingers crossed for nancy & celtic! 🀞

I'm loving the drama around this transfer πŸ€©πŸ†. I think Celtic are making a bold move by going for Wilfried Nancy, and it's not hard to see why - he's got the skills to bring some fresh blood to the team. His experience managing Montreal was pretty impressive, especially considering they finished 7th in the MLS Eastern Conference πŸ“ˆ. It's also interesting that Celtic are trying to bring someone in who can progress within their system and accept transfer policies - I think this is a big factor in their decision-making process. What do you guys think about this move? Should Celtic be going for someone with some MLS experience, or should they stick with a local manager? πŸ’¬

OMG did you try that new vegan pizza place downtown? I mean I'm no expert but they have this amazing mushroom and truffle thingy πŸ•πŸ€€ and it literally changed my life. I know we were just talking about Celtic's manager situation, but seriously have you tried their cauliflower crust? It's a game changer! πŸ˜‚ Anyway back to Celtic... if Wilfried Nancy does end up taking the job, I hope they can fix their attacking issues, man that team can be so unpredictable 🀯.

just saw this about celtic's manager search πŸ€” they gotta find someone who can turn that team around ASAP... been hearing raves about wilfried nancy from american soccer circles think he might be the real deal πŸ‘ hope they don't mess it up

omg u guys i cant even handle the thought of wilfried nancy at celtic lol they need him so bad rn but seriously he would be a great fit 4 the club hes got all the qualifications and experience they need nancy wasnt even on my radar before but now im super excited bout the prospect of him bringin some new ideas 2 the team i mean he did do well at columbus crew last season & hes had some good success wit montreal too 3rd time luckys for celts hope dey can get him in place 4 next wkend so dey dont have 2 keep martin o neill on caretaker duty

OMG you guys 🀯 I just looked up Wilfried Nancy's stats and he's got an insane 64% win rate in MLS πŸ“ŠπŸ’ͺ And did you know Columbus Crew finished 7th in the Eastern Conference this season? That's like, really good! πŸ™Œ But wait, what about his experience with St Mirren's arch-rivals Rangers? πŸ€” Did he even manage any Scottish teams? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Anyway, I just checked Celtic's last 5 match results and they've lost like 3 straight games 😬 Can we talk about how much they need a win next weekend? πŸ†

omg can't believe celtic is seriously considering wilfried nancy 🀯 he's got some impressive experience in mls and proved himself with columbus crew last season πŸ† also, i think it's interesting that they're targeting an emerging coach who fits their system... hope he brings a fresh energy to parkhead πŸ’š as for the other names mentioned, kieran mckenna is still my fave but fingers crossed nancy becomes the new gaffer πŸ‘

omg u guys 🀯 i cant believe celtic is seriously considering wilfried nancy! πŸ€” i know he didnt seem like a strong contender at first, but its actually kinda cool that he ticks all the boxes for their preferred profile πŸ™Œ. i mean, experience in MLS and canada, got it. and to be honest, it sounds like he would be a good fit for celtic's system πŸ’‘. im not sure about kieran mckenna tho πŸ€”, i wish they would just go after him instead of all the other options 😩. fingers crossed nancy can bring some fresh energy to parkhead ⚽️! πŸ‘

so they're thinkin about movin' on from brendan rodgers already πŸ€”... i mean, can't say i'm surprised, he did seem to be losin' control a bit this season, but still, wilfried nancy's gonna have some big shoes to fill, right? πŸ’ͺ he's got experience managin in europe and the us, so that's def a plus. but what makes celtic think he's the right guy for the job? is it just cuz they're lookin at someone who can progress within their system or is there somethin' else goin on here πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ...

I'm not sure if they're makin' a huge mistake or just gettin' things done ASAP πŸ€”. Wilfried Nancy's MLS gig didn't exactly set the world on fire, but at least he's got some experience in big games and has worked under some top coaches. The thing that excites me about this move is that Celtic are finally gettin' some fresh blood into their coaching setup after a few years of the same old faces πŸ”„. Now we just gotta see if Nancy can bring some new ideas to Parkhead and help them regain their winning edge ⚽️. Can't say I'm blown away by his credentials, but hey, at least he's a step in the right direction πŸ’¨.

"Believe you can and you're halfway there." πŸ†πŸ’ͺ As far as I'm concerned, Wilfried Nancy is definitely someone who could bring a fresh start to Celtic FC. His experience managing teams in different leagues will surely be beneficial for the club. It's great that he fits the profile of an emerging coach who can progress within their system. Who knows, maybe this move will be the spark Celtic need to kick-start their season! πŸ”₯πŸ’«

omg can't believe it!! 🀯 Celtic is finally moving forward with a new manager πŸ”„ and I'm low-key hoping it's Wilfried Nancy πŸ’ͺ! He seems like the perfect fit for the Hoops ⚽️ - all that experience in MLS & his ability to work within systems is huge πŸ“ˆ. Plus, he's got that whole emerging coach vibe going on πŸ‘, which would be a nice change from some of the other names they've mentioned πŸ€”. Fingers crossed we see him in Glasgow by next weekend! πŸ•°οΈ Can't wait for the season to start and see what Nancy brings to the table 🎯πŸ’₯ #CelticFC #WilfriedNancy #NewManager #Hoops

πŸš¨πŸ’” just heard that climate change is expected to cause a 1.5Β°C temperature increase by 2050 which will lead to devastating sea level rise and extreme weather events... πŸŒͺοΈπŸ˜“ how are we gonna prepare for this? πŸ€•

Just saw this news about Wilfried Nancy being in talks to manage Celtic FC πŸ€”πŸ‘€ and I gotta say, I'm kinda surprised it came out of nowhere πŸ’₯! Thought he was a long shot at first but now that I think about it, the experience he got from managing Montreal sounds really solid πŸ’ͺ. Plus, the whole MLS Eastern Conference thing shows he can handle big games πŸ†. Wonder if this is gonna shake things up for Celtic... βš”οΈ

omg i cant even believe its happening!!! wilfried nancy is defo our man to take us to the next level ! hes proven himself on the MLS scene and has the skillset to get us 10 trophies in a row lol just imagine it !! he ticks every box for celtic and id rather have him than kieran mckenna any day ! nancy's got the experience and the hunger to take us to europe and we need someone like that now !! lets make it happen celtic !!

Ugh πŸ™„ I don't know why people are so quick to assume Wilfried Nancy is the answer to all their problems at Celtic πŸ˜’ I mean, have you seen his record with Montreal? Seventh in the MLS Eastern Conference is not exactly setting the world on fire πŸ”₯ And what's with him being a "long shot" initially? Did they even do any real due diligence? πŸ€” It's all about perception over actual performance when it comes to this job.

πŸ€” So I'm mixed about this, you know? On one hand, Wilfried Nancy sounds like a solid coach who knows how to build teams from scratch. His experience in MLS is actually pretty impressive and he'd definitely bring some fresh blood to Glasgow 😊. Plus, Celtic need someone to sort out their defense, so if they can get him on board, that's a big plus πŸ›‘οΈ.

But on the other hand, I'm a bit skeptical about how quickly they're making this decision. It feels like they're rushing into something without thinking it through 🀯. And what's with all these other names being mentioned? It feels like Celtic are just throwing names at the wall to see which one sticks 🎯. We don't even know for sure if Nancy is interested or not, so let's not get ahead of ourselves πŸ‘€.

Overall, I'm cautiously optimistic about this, but we'll have to wait and see how it all plays out πŸ’

omg u gotta be kidding me they're actually considering wilfried nancy lol who would've thought right? but seriously tho he does sound like a solid pick for the job i mean he has that MLS experience under his belt and stuff so hopefully he can bring some stability to the team now about kieran mckenna tho idk why celtic never approached ipswich i feel like they couldve made it work but oh well at least paul tisdale is on board with nancy πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ
