Sonic Booms from Rocket Launches are Sending Shocks Through Santa Barbara, Including Singer Charlie Puth's Home.
Charley Puth is pleading with Elon Musk to curb sonic booms emanating from rocket launches in his area. The pop star recently tweeted at the SpaceX CEO, explaining that a recent launch has become increasingly loud and alarming for him and his pregnant wife.
At 3 am on December 10th, Puth experienced a particularly intense sonic boom that felt like 150-160 decibels and shook their house violently. "These sonic booms have gotten progressively louder since they started launching rockets in Santa Barbara," he wrote. "I hope they do not get louder."
The issue comes from SpaceX's Vandenberg Space Force Base, where launches are conducted at night. Musk has yet to respond to Puth's plea. His company acknowledges that residents may experience sonic booms depending on weather conditions.
Meanwhile, Charlie Puth recently announced the upcoming birth of his child in March. He even joked about being a dad saying "I hope baby likes music, because it's the only thing I'm good at."
