Chelsea lose more ground in Bournemouth stalemate and suffer Delap blow

Chelsea's title hopes continue to slip away as Enzo Maresca's team settled for a stalemate against Bournemouth, leaving them eight points behind the top of the Premier League.

The visitors made it clear from the start that they were there to trouble Chelsea, and their relentless pressure eventually told. Just six minutes into the game, Antoine Semenyo should have given his side the lead, but Evanilson was marginally offside when he pounced on a loose ball inside the area. Moments later, Reece James was denied a blushes-saving equalizer after Justin Kluivert went down in the box, with the assistant's flag intervening.

Despite dominating possession and creating half-chances, Chelsea were unable to break down Andoni Iraola's team, who had nullified their threat down one side of the pitch. Cole Palmer made his first league start for months but failed to exert much influence, before being replaced by JoΓ£o Pedro at halftime.

It was an injury to Liam Delap that concerned Maresca the most, as the summer signing from Ipswich has already missed two months of the season with a hamstring injury. Delap's replacement, Marc Guiu, received little service and struggled to make an impact.

Bournemouth also had their share of scares, but ultimately were unable to capitalize on their chances. Semenyo tested Djordje Petrovic twice in the first half before Garnacho's header from Pedro Neto's cross went just wide off a post at the back.

The stalemate left Maresca's team with little cause for joy, despite having had better chances than Chelsea. "I think we had better chances than Chelsea," Iraola said after the game. "We've had games where we've played worse and you manage to get a goal, one set piece, you win 1-0. Now everything is costing us, but I think we can build on this performance."

For Chelsea, the draw was yet another missed opportunity in their quest for top spot. Despite picking up some momentum in the final week of November with victories over Barcelona and Arsenal, they appear to have lost ground since then. The loss leaves them eight points behind the leaders and raises concerns about their title hopes.

I'm getting a vibe that this season is gonna be super close 🀯... like, so close that you're not even sure if your team's gonna win or lose until the last minute of the game πŸ’₯... And Chelsea just had another one of those games where they dominated but couldn't score πŸ™„... It's like they need to find a way to click into gear and make all their chances count, 'cause if they don't, Man City is just gonna keep pulling away πŸ”΄... And Bournemouth was there for the taking, so it's def worth wondering what could've been 😐... Anyway, I think this is exactly why Maresca's comment after the game resonates - he thinks his team had better chances than Chelsea, and that's a fair call πŸ€”...

πŸ€” man I'm telling ya, Chelsea's title hopes are slipping away fast like sand between your fingers πŸ˜…. They're not just losing games, they're dropping points against teams that aren't even top 4 material πŸ™„. Bournemouth came at them hard and nullified their threat, can't say I blame 'em, those guys have been struggling to create chances too ⚽️. And now they're eight points behind, whoa that's a big gap to close πŸ’Έ. What's going on with Lampard's team, are they just not gelling or what? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Chelsea's season is getting more and more confusing πŸ€”... one minute they're on fire, next they're like that... 😴 can't seem to string together a win and now this πŸ™„ 8 points behind and it's all coming down to the wire πŸ’₯ would love to see them get back on track soon ⏰

omg what's going on with chelsea?? i feel so bad for them, they're just not getting those breaks anymore πŸ€•. enzo maresca's team played really solid defense and nullified chelsea's threat which is impressive. but at the same time, bournemouth was also pretty lucky to get that draw. cole palmer didn't even make an impact after coming on in the first half πŸ€”. i think this loss might be a setback for chelsea's title hopes... they need to regroup and find a way to break down those defenses πŸ’ͺ

omg u guys i'm literally dying lol chelsea is having such a rough season rn i feel bad for them cuz they're so close but just can't seem to get that one goal in 😩 i mean what's up with cole palmer?? he's been out for months and still hasn't made an impact πŸ€” i know bournemouth played well but come on chelsea u gotta step it up πŸ’ͺ anyway i'm rooting for them cuz they're my team lolπŸ˜‚

Ugh, Chelsea's season just went from bad to worse 😩. I mean, they're not even having fun playing games anymore. They gotta settle for draws? That's not how you win titles πŸ€”. And that Bournemouth team was all over them, but couldn't capitalize on their chances either... what's going on with Chelsea's defense? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ And Cole Palmer just sat on the bench like he wasn't even a part of the game πŸ˜’. It's not about being unlucky, it's about executing and scoring goals when you have the chance πŸ’ͺ. Maresca's team might've had better chances than Chelsea, but at least they showed some spirit, ya know? 🀯

Aww, poor Chelsea! πŸ˜” They were really close to getting that win but just couldn't quite get it together πŸ€”. I mean, you gotta feel for Emilio Iraola's team, Bournemouth - they played some great defense and nullified Chelsea's threat πŸ™Œ. And hey, at least Cole Palmer got his first league start in months πŸŽ‰! But yeah, that injury to Liam Delap is a big concern... fingers crossed he gets back soon πŸ’ͺ. Maybe this can be the wake-up call they need to push on? ⏱️ The season's not over yet, and Chelsea still have plenty of chances to make up ground 😊

omg that game was so tense 🀯! Bournemouth totally outplayed Chelsea πŸ‘ and got a well-deserved draw 😊. Iraola's team is on fire πŸ”₯ right now, but yeah, Maresca's squad can't catch a break πŸ˜”. those hamstrings are really getting in the way of Delap's progress πŸ€•. chelsea needs to get their act together ASAP ⏰ or they'll be sleepwalking into 2nd place 😴

Ugh, Bournemouth got robbed! πŸ˜’ They had so many legit chances and yet still couldn't capitalize on 'em. I mean, Semenyo's misses are just weird... did he even see that Evanilson was offside? πŸ€” And what's with Marc Guiu not getting any service? I get it, Delap's out, but come on! πŸ˜‚

And Chelsea... *sigh*... they're just having one of those weeks, I guess. I mean, 8 points behind is a big gap to close, and now they've gotta deal with this injury drama too. Liam Delap already down for two months? That's huge. And Cole Palmer not making an impact? Not exactly what you want from your star player... πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Ugh, Bournemouth totally stole this game from Chelsea πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. They were relentless in the press and just didn't let Chelsea create anything meaningful. I mean, I get that they're a good team but come on, 6 minutes into the game should've been enough to score? πŸ™„. And Cole Palmer's presence was basically non-existent, what's with the coach not giving him more chances to shine? πŸ˜’. Anyway, it's just another day of Chelsea's title hopes slipping away and I'm getting a bit worried about their chances of winning it all... 🀯

omg u no i just got back from the most amazing hike this wkend 🏞️😊 it was like 5 miles up a hill and the view from the top was insane!!! i saw so many different types of birds too, like ravens and falcons πŸ¦πŸ•ŠοΈ and i swear i almost saw a deer 🦌 but it ran away lol. anyway back to football... i feel bad for Chelsea tho, they need to get that momentum back ASAP βš½οΈπŸ˜…

omg this game was so intense 🀯 i feel bad for Chelsea they were so close but just couldn't break through πŸ˜” i think bournemouth played a solid game and deserve some credit for that πŸ™Œ andriy lunin should really focus on his shot save skills lol he made some crazy saves 🀣

😐 Chelsea's just not getting that lucky break right now, you feel? They've had some amazing games recently, but this one's got me thinking they might be losing focus a bit. πŸ€” Eight points behind Bournemouth is a massive gap to close down and it's gonna take more than just one draw like this to turn things around. πŸ’ͺ But I still got faith in them! They're too good a team to give up now, right? 😊

Ugh, can't believe Chelsea is slippin' away from that Premier League title πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ! I mean, I get it, Bournemouth played solid and nullified their attacks, but come on, Anto Semenyo was so close to scoring that loose ball just a minute in! 😱 Evanilson was offside tho, so can't give Bournemouth all the credit... still, it's another point dropped for Chelsea, and now they're 8 points behind 🚨. I don't think Cole Palmer's been back from his injury long enough to make an impact yet either, JoΓ£o Pedro should've started instead... anyway, gotta keep supporting The Blues, even if things aren't goin' our way right now πŸ’”

omg u guys its not looking good 4 chelsea atm πŸ€• they just drew against bournemouth & now they r 8 pts behind the top πŸ“‰ like whats goin on? theyve had some big wins recnt but cant seem 2 keep it up πŸ˜” and now bournemouth's team is talkin bout havin better chances dan them lol what a mess πŸ’β€β™€οΈ

Ugh I'm so done with Chelsea's season rn πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ They just can't seem to catch a break. And that ref decision was bs, Reece James would've gotten away with it if not for that flag 😑. Maresca's team played well, deserved the draw imo πŸ‘ And what's going on with Delap's hammy? That's two months already and they're still trying to get him fit πŸ’”

I mean... what a surprise, another game where Chelsea just can't seem to get it together πŸ™ƒ. I'm not saying Andoni Iraola's team was that good or anything, but they did manage to nullify Chelsea's threat down one side of the pitch. It's like they had a special task force sent in to stop Cole Palmer from being... well, Cole Palmer πŸ˜‚.

And can we talk about Liam Delap for a sec? Two months out with a hamstring injury and still causing problems? I guess that's what happens when you're a summer signing who's already struggling to make an impact πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

πŸ€” so i was watching this game live yesterday and i gotta say chelsea is getting worried πŸ™ˆ they're like 8 points behind now and it's not looking good for them, especially with liam delap missing out due to that hamstring injury 😬 it's like they're running out of time you know? and bournemouth was unlucky not to win it, semenyo should've scored that one in the first half, but evanilson got there just a split second too late πŸ•°οΈ anyway, i think maresca said he thinks his team had better chances than chelsea, which is true, they did create more half-chances and dominated possession πŸ‘ but it all came down to who could capitalize on their chances, and bournemouth just couldn't do it πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ
